Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Injury Update

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie says there is no tear in groin. Has already done light running. Thinks there is chance to play Monday night.
He is one tough man...
okiegiant : 9/28/2016 4:08 pm : link
So many times I thought he was badly hurt on a play and he'd be right back in.
Wonder why he didn't return to the game then.
Brown Recluse : 9/28/2016 4:11 pm : link
Not questioning his toughness or anything. Strictly curious.
Because three days later he's limited to light running?
Giantfan in skinland : 9/28/2016 4:12 pm : link
No tear doesn't mean no injury/no pain.
Not putting him back in the game is precautionary
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/28/2016 4:13 pm : link
He's a DB. His job involves running. Try running on a pulled groin. When you're done crying we'll talk about it.

Yes, I'm aware that no tear doesn't mean no injury. Thank you.

Eli Apple says his hamstring is improving. Taking it day by day. #Giants

Because why risk further serious injury in Week 3 when already clearly hurt?

I do not understand this response. There aren't instant MRI's. They take time and you have to be cautios when you get the information immediately. You have to slowly test it out. Muscle injuries are very tricky. A simple pull could keep a player out weeks. A tear can end a season. It says he might be able to play Monday. That is over a week later and he MIGHT play. Why would you think he should have went back in game?
These injuries turned the corner position back into the 2015 version

in less than a month. I can't take too much more of Trevin Wade.

Wait your question is if a player may be available to play in the following week, why can't he play in the following hour? Did I get that straight?
Hey at least we signed Jack Rabbit
beatrixkiddo : 9/28/2016 4:21 pm : link
instead of Prince or else all 3 of our starting CB's would be out. So there is that.
agreed
David B. : 9/28/2016 4:24 pm : link
If you ever pulled a groin muscle, you can't even lift your leg -- it's the muscle that lifts your leg so you can move it forward. It's brutal. Pulled hamstrings are also excruciating. Add pulled quads to that list too. I've had them all playing recreational sports years ago -- you go down in an agonizing heap and need help to get off the field.

These are "minor" injuries compared to ACLs, fractures etc., but they hurt like hell and these guys are NOT pussies for not playing through them. If you don't let them heal, you re injure them.
I don't know if he should have went back in or not.
Brown Recluse : 9/28/2016 4:25 pm : link
Guess my first assumption was that if it was bad enough to keep him out of the game, it would've been bad enough to stay out another week. Maybe I posted before my brain thought it through.

Look, I'm sorry ok? I've never pulled a groin. My muscles are made of graphene so I don't have the same issues you fragile humans do when it comes to these kinds of injuries.
And I kinda doubt he'll play Monday...
okiegiant : 9/28/2016 4:29 pm : link
All thought it's just a guess, but it's good to know it wasn't as bad as it could've been and he'll be back soon.

Same with Apple.

This....

My man seems like he's always dinged up yet always plays ... at a really demanding position (actually aren't they all demanding positions?).

DRC is a gamer.
It all depends on the severity
David B. : 9/28/2016 4:33 pm : link
of the pull.
Yes, as I said earlier, he's a gamer.
Big Blue '56 : 9/28/2016 4:42 pm : link
That said and as a fan, I would not be happy with him giving it the 'ol college try at say, the 70% level..I'd rather him sit

Eli Apple has not tested out his hamstring injury yet by running, so sure sounds like DRC has better chance for Monday. Both still uncertain

Andrew Adams said last 48 hours were agonizing. Was uncertain about his place on the team until arriving at facility today. #Giants
I'm assuming our new S&C coach
RobCarpenter : 9/28/2016 4:50 pm : link
will take a different approach to rehabbing these players than the previous one.

It's only the other lousy options at TE that kept him on the team.

Wrong Adams.andrew is the safety that screwed up the blocked punt play Jerrell is the TE.
Sorry

My bad
Even if neither plays

That's encouraging news moving forward.

Also for this week, that Leon Hall signing is looking like a big one.

Jenkins and Hall would be a suitable set of starters on most teams. We really do have nice depth here... for now... wood being knocked on.
I have had a groin injury for 2 months
OBJ_AllDay : 9/28/2016 5:35 pm : link
After someone threw a bad ball to first in a softball game and I had to stretch weirdly for it. For 5 days I had to lift my leg every time I wanted to get in the car and the slightest movement would kill. I still can't run on it and have developed hip pain as a result of it and a clicking sound in my hip if I open my stride longer than that of a slow walk. Those questioning why he didn't return must not know how painful these injuries are. Cutting motions will result in someone looking like they were shot. It's very painful.

Seeing the way he was gimping around on the sidelines and knowing it's a hamstring, I would be shocked if Apple played vs. Minny, or even the week after, unless the Giants' docs are to be found guilty of malpractice. Hammies that hurt that much, even in a 21-year old, just don't "heal" that fast.
Are the players

Crazy that DRC has only missed 1 game since he's been here.
arcarsenal : 9/28/2016 7:07 pm : link
He's dealt with a lot of nagging issues. He's a tough dude.

Diggs is a stud but aside from him, the MIN WR's aren't the scariest bunch. I'd love for him to give it a go if he can but if holding out one week will benefit him for the long-run, I'd almost rather he did that.
Anyone who has had a strained groin knows the pain
Jerry "Championship" Reese : 9/28/2016 8:36 pm : link
A strain is still very debilitating and painful, really glad to hear it wasn't a tear which could be devastating.
