Sunday with the Minn pass rush... unless they are way more confident in his pass protection since the pre-season. I think at some point (and now seems like a pretty good time) you need to see what you have, but you might end up seeing a lot of different people in the backfield blocking this week.
I know he has a year left on an extremely reasonable deal, but cutting him after this season save us a couple million with only $562k in dead cap.
Considering his inability to avoid getting nicked up and that he'll be age 32 heading into next season, it seems like a possibility. Wouldn't surprise me to see us in the market for a new starting RB next offseason.
But its going to be the Darkwa and Rainey show on Monday.
Or, "Dark and Rainy" as one BBIer coined a few days ago, haha
Oh, that's awesome! And since it's Monday night we'll have a Dark and Rainey night! Please let the running game take off...for the headline writers sake.
solid veteran, but he doesn't have the wheels to do the job IMO. He gets to the line too slowly and gets stood up a bunch, especially with this line. You saw the difference in running styles with Vereen in there last week and the success he had getting through the line quickly. I think the guys toting the ball right now can be successful and I would leave Jennings for some short yardage duty and possibly goal line duty when he's ready to return, but I can't see him as a starter anymore. I think we need to start to maintain some consistency with a ball carrier(s) and stop the constant shuffling of starters. Only question with Darkwa is his ability to block.
Dark and Rainy. That could stick if these guys produce.
than losing Jennings. Jennings, who I do like to watch, is becoming a JAG. He would be the IDEAL backup RB but he is thrusted into the starting role. Perkins probably has more talent than anyone on the roster and Darkwa now is give his chance. If these 2 can learn to pass block, this might be a blessing in disguise.
...from the days of signing Hillis and Jacobs off the street to replace Andre Brown and David Wilson because the alternatives on the roster were Michael Cox, Da'Rel Scott and such.
The depth chart at RB is pretty straightforward: Darkwa replaces Jennings and Rainey replaces Vereen. I will be VERY surprised to see much of Perkins unless one of the other two gets hurt or screws up.
The issue with the replacements isn't that they represent a major dropoff in playmaking ability. The problem is that they carry a much higher likelihood of negative plays. We saw it on Sunday with Rainey in his brief appearance, and I worry that we'll see it again on Monday night. We just have to hope they do the good things we know they can do without too many costly mistakes.

the more snaps earned and gotten by Darkwa, Perkins and Adams, the better for the Giants long term this season.
I understand that snaps because of injury aren't earned, but the experience gives these three players a better chance of earning them in the future.
Jennings is solid but he doesn't get much more than what the blocking provides. He's not going to break one on his own. Perkins and to a lesser extent Darkwa can.
Similarly our TEs suck. Better hope Adams can play.
to make a huge assignment gaffe. That comes to him by experience and being bright. As far as running and receiving, the other three don't represent any sort of drop off, in my opinion.
Mention here that Coughlin's view of Jennings' game-that he wears down, is prone to an increased risk of injury, as well as fumbling, if he is used too much, is born out. At least at this stage in his career, be is a rotation back.

Quick! swap first rounders with the Browns!
I would think they both better be brushing up on their pass protection.

Who can we expect to fumble this week.. Darkwa or Perkins?
Why not both?!
I don't expect to see much of Perkins unless Darkwa or Rainey fumble
I guess we'll be looking at Paul Perkins sooner than I thought.

Yes, I believe so.

Would you mind contributing a useful football thought for once? Dep makes a good post and you respond with that...

Leonard Fournette, anyone?
Quick! swap first rounders with the Browns!
We may not need to :)
