There was no explanation of why he was even signed in the first place.
He has bounced around from one training camp to the next and never recorded even a tackle in an NFL game and yet the Giants saw fit to sign him to the 53-man roster in place of Hughes, a guy with some experience and upside (I know Hughes has since been re-added).
I understand the young man has apparently been "ill" since signing with the Giants and he hasn't even practiced with the team yet. Whatever his ailment, it must be serious and I wish him a speedy recovery, but what is he doing on the active roster? Why would the Giants sign a guy with an illness to take up a precious roster spot? Again, I'm not taking the illness lightly, but this team doesn't even have a fullback on the roster, is thin int the secondary and offensive line, and yet we have a sickly inexperienced player on the team instead?
Is it possible the Giants are hiding something about "Robert Thomas"? Does anyone have any inside information as to why he is on the team as a 5th DT when we are in dire need of help at other positions?
Can't he be placed on some non-football injury list or jettisoned with pay?
Just wondering if anyone has any inside information or insights. The Giants have been very tight-lipped about this and has me wondering what the real story is here.
I'd love for the beats to do some more digging around to help us understand. I understand the desire to protect his privacy regarding his health issues, but the questions related to keeping him on the 53 man roster are valid, imo.
Ahhh - gotcha...
Well, then they must really like Thomas to carry him on the 53 for 4 weeks inactive. Strange.
You feel the turning of the world so soft and slow.
I wouldn't rule anything out at this point. The Giants are keeping something from us I suspect.
Are you unsure that he is a real person?
The lying beat reporters say Thomas is sick, but he's actually the healthiest defensive tackle in the history of football. And rich. Really, really rich. Why should he suit up if he gets paid anyway? That makes him smart. It's called business, by the way.
He wouldn't be anywhere near the locker room if he had that!
That is highly contagious, maybe it's just bubonic plague?
That last part is a joke...

Well, at this point we getting close to not having any healthy scratches (or having to dress 3 QBs):
Josh Johnson
Jennings
Thompson
DRC
Apple
Behre
Newhouse
And considering 4 of those guys are DBs (plus M Thompson on IR), to many, it seems that that roster spot would be better used on getting an extra DB up to speed rather than a 10th DL.
DL are more likely to get hurt and need extra depth/ DRC may play as may Apple.
You don't know what you don't know.

That's why you have a practice squad. They could sign an extra player from the PS, that's been there for a few weeks, to the active roster and then replace said player on the PS with another. Obviously the new PS player would be to add depth to whatever position appears thin.
And yes, Josh Johnson is definitely dead weight.
Email Reese and check it out...
Hopefully, the reason is that all of them are really good players or prospects, not the usual roster filler fodder.
I heard he took the pullman porter's key for the pull down bed
