Q: On that drive against Washington where you had the 19-yarder and 24-yarder, were you starting to get the feel of taking over a game again? A: Yes. It’s just unfortunate that it was as late as it was. You wait all game and then it finally comes around at the end. It makes it a lot more difficult. It’s like you’re playing catchup instead of being on top of it from the start. I felt like we could’ve done that all game. From the very beginning of the game, even with the coverages that they were playing. I felt like we could’ve took advantage of that but we didn’t. We just keep it moving from here. Like I said, we’re going against one of the top defenses in the league and we have to come out and play our best. |

Q: Ben McAdoo said you have to do a better job controlling your emotions. Is that something that you have to do? A: No. I’m in a great place right now mentally, physically and spiritually. There’s not really much that bothers me at all, to be honest. I’m going to go out and play football the only way I know how to play. Try my best to be the best teammate that I possibly can be. At the end of the day you play for the guys who are wearing the jersey. They’re the ones that take the field for you. They’re the ones who you shed blood, sweat and tears with. I’m just going to go out and be who I am. Q: Is there any concern that you could be a distraction? That’s what he said. A: He said, she said. I’m not really concerned about anything except the Minnesota Vikings. |

He does it literally every day that he walks out on the field. He's an emotional young man. He wears his emotions on his sleeve. "I will never ... I will not defend his actions yesterday because they were wrong and this particular franchise and organization does not tolerate that. So I will not do that. I will defend the young man and the quality of the person I will defend him as long as I'm able." |
Well espn says it... then it must be true!!!

What happens is when team's know the ball is going to one guy in the red zone, they stop it, either through the coverage or breaking up the pass.
He caught 10 of 12 targets in a win (AJ Green) had his team started trailing I guarantee both those numbers go up significantly. Pretty good for someone with no help at WR.
Wait... if someone has help at WR, why would your force it to him?
Ugh.. because Odell is a threat for six points with every touch unlike all the 'help' it's not like Sheppard and Cruz are gashing guys they are playing well as expected. But Odell should lead the league in targets in this style of offense even with 'help' ' at WR. We don't have three number one recevers.

Again... let's slow it down for you... despite going up and down the field at will thr last two weeks.... you rather ditch that game plan and just force feed beckham so he has the chance to score? Amazing logic.
A guy like him doesn't come around too often, at least to us, so I think we can put up with some childish shit from time to time in exchange for some extraordinary production..At least, fwiw, his occasional stupidity emanates from a fervent desire to win, to be the best.
Good for him

Pulling my inner radar.... how has that worked in the past?
Again 21-9. Moving the ball at will. 360 yards passing last week. 380 against the saints. Where is the problem moving the ball? Simple question. No continue to be a fucking cunt while I continue to make you look like an ass.
We didn't score enough. Those numbers are misleading. We were up 14-3 and we lost everyhing, all momentum. Not because of TO's because those didn't hurt us until the second half. We played scared and Odell became lost in our offense. The Skins played fearless and we played scared. Re watch the play calls after we went up 14-3.
I think yo need to watch more, post less. We moved thr ball all game. This cannot be disputed.
We did not involve our best player. Wether you think it's diva ish or not the point is if hes involved we have a better chance to win wether we are moving it or not it, we did not get in the end zone enough. You can Pull In Your Inner Radar all day bro.

Agreed.
The reason we didn't score enough points was due to correctable mistakes not giving obj more chances.

We were up 21-16 just before the half, the Redskins shit the bed at the goal line just before the end of half. After a 14-3 start. And after 21 in one half what happened in the second? Don't give me the turnover crap. Because Eli forced one to Tye. And the final one came in the final drive. Beckham became a non factor and don't give me that Redskins tripled teamed him crap. Because as soon as hey started forcing it to him he took over! To late!

We had 21 points before half. Am I missing something? Actually it seems when we involved him more, we scored less. So again if we are scoring TDs with him being a minimal contributor... and scoring less when we go to him.... maybe your point is moot.

I was lambasted in the game thread about the play calling .
It was like we went into the fetal position to protect
the lead run on 1st and 2nd down for little to no gain
and punt . I am still waiting for this offense to run a
play that actually fools the other team . When we run the
ball especially when Eli checks out of a play the
opposition seems to know exactly where we are running it to .
Where are the new wrinkles ? It looks like the same plays
we ran in pre-season that were unsuccessful especially
in the run game ..
How many slants did we run or screen passes or quick outs ?
I'm probably way off base here but i expected to see
some different looks and play designs is it possible
that after two years of success that teams have figured
our offense out ?
+1

Or perhaps, Eli knows his players better than anybody, knows his system better than anybody and that perhaps he's instructed to go through his reads a certain way because there are expectations of who will be open, depending on the play?
Nah. You're right.
So if I ascribe to that, then we're 2-1 unless the rules of record contention has changed..😎

So, is your thought that Eli doesn't know that OBJ is great but instead tries to move the ball around just to be "fair to the players"?

Nah. You're right.
You're right Randy. Eli is perfect and we should never critique him.
Too funny.
Eli tried to fire one between two players to OBJ early in this past contest. I think the pass went off Norman's hands and was almost picked.
If Beckham wins his match up and is open, Eli will put it on him, that is what he does. If he is bracketed then someone else will (hopefully) be open since Beckham has tilted the field his way. This is called team sports, which football might be the ultimate example of.
On the Tye pick (which was a one handed INT catch, awesome play) we learned from post game interviews that Tye was the hot read. When the pressure came Eli could have ate it, or put it up to Tye. I have read multiple times that Beckham was open etc., but Eli can not just throw it up to him under duress if that is not what is designed.
I hope Beckham, who to me seems a bit crazy but he obviously brings it on the field, was not upset because the ball was going elsewhere. He will be getting plenty of chances this season and already has. He should be more pissed about the case of the dropsies he has had so far. Eli and Cruz bailed him out week 2 or this team might be 1 - 2.By the way, the big play to Cruz was a one on one where Cruz one the battle, that is how you make a great play. Tye and Rainey lost theirs this past week.
100% agree
If anyone should be upset at a player it's Richburg and his stupid shot on that bucktoothed mental patient Norman leading to his ejection and replacement.
There are two separate issues here: Odell's sideline antics and the 'targets' issue. And even within each of those topics there are multiple discussion points.
I think it safe to say Odell should not be throwing tantrums on the sideline. He can play with heart and passion without losing his composure.
And Go Terps is right. Whether he gets one or twenty touches he should not behave ridiculously.
However, suggesting this is poison or we can't win with this player, which some have done here....well that's ludicrous.
NOW, the issue of targets is a separate issue altogether. It is perfectly reasonable to point out Odell was not targeted often and the Giants put up 21 points. It's also reasonable to point out how much yardage the Giants put up.
BUT, it's also reasonable to point out watching the game, the Giants had a rut for about a good twenty minute stretch where Washington adjusted to the horizontal offense the Giants were playing and the offense stalled out.
AND in spite of the yardage this offense is not putting points on the board. Avg 20 points per game is disappointing thus far.
Odell and Cruz imo should have each received more targets during that stretch where the o stalled out. Cruz should have been more involved period. To me that's the bigger crime.
The other advantage of Odell touching the ball more-guy scores a lot. The Giants need not force him the ball-which many posters are suggesting they would have to do, utter nonsense he was open most of the game and the beauty of the three receiver set is no one can get more than a corner and safety.
BUT, It's possible Odell should have received more looks and still behaved poorly and a bit of a jerk.
You get the sense here Odell was right to get more touches and would be justified in hitting Eli with a chair. And the other side, that views more targets for him as madden ball and that he is a cancer like Terrel Owens.
#NEVERFORGETHOWTHE2014SEASONSTARTED
So Eli shouldnt throw to open receivers if they arent Cruz, Shephard, or Beckham.
BBI is getting worse..... theres no doubt about it.
Even the Redskins said they were surprised they weren't more exploited.
Forcing the ball to a player is not a great strategy when the opposition can quickly adjust.
How many red zone targets did Beckham Cruz and Shepard get? Just curious.....
How many red zone targets did Beckham Cruz and Shepard get? Just curious.....
8 passes
4 to OBJ
1 SS
1 to rainey
1 to Tye
1 to Vereen.
Definitely execution played a bigger culprit that distribution, even though I still feel nyg missed an opp to torch Washington d even more.
And generally I hate the questioning of a specific decision or play.
So if I ascribe to that, then we're 2-1 unless the rules of record contention has changed..😎
It's a valid point, but with the infusion of talent it's hard to compare that to last year. IMO it just seems as if these games are being played too close to the vest at times that results in them being closer then they should. When you do that you end up at times losing to a team your beating by 12 points halfway through the game
Just asinine that this was brought to the media by our HC
link - ( New Window )
It just feels like such a long time since the Giants have set a tone for a game and leveraged a large lead going into the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Its only three games so its early. But with this team, if both in not in the top three by end of year we left yards on the field.
And Odell is capable of being a runaway #1 in ypg. If he ends up 9th, unless Shepard and Cruz are both in the top 15 its a criminal underuse.
Or that 6 & half foot Tight End who managed to do it 3 times in a single game last season against the same opponent...but fade route to Rainey instead.

Barber criticized Beckham for his emotional outbursts, including the one caught on camera during the Giants' loss to the Redskins on Sunday. That outburst -- where he slammed his helmet into the kicking net and then may or may not have been crying afterwards -- sparked head coach Ben McAdoo to say his star receiver "needs to control his emotions better and be less of a distraction."
Just asinine that this was brought to the media by our HC link - ( New Window )
What do you mean brought to the media by the HC? Are you trying to say that no one asked or discussed Beckham for 8 hours a day the last week and the coach called them over to say his WR is this and that?
I think the person is saying that it served no purpose for McAdoo to make those public comments regardless of how he felt about the issue. Address the player(s) in private instead of contributing to a situation that becomes a DISTRACTION when media chicken littles start running to all the players for responses. As annoying as he can be, there's a method to Bill Belichick's madness of saying nothing to the media. McAdoo will hopefully learn that too.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa???? What the hell is going on here...is everyone losing their marbles?
Did anyone just hear Banks on talking to Evan Roberts? He made the point that needed to be explained to people. ROberts is pressing and pressing on Beckham and changinf his personality and Banks just basically said "this is all some bullshit you guys are making up and now demand answwrs to their own agenda. He said the media just wants to tear the guy down and he's not the guy you want to do that to.
Why do the kid's own fans and media want to tear him down every damn week? All he does is rack up catches and yards and wants to win as much as his QB

Are you just being silly with this, or do you actually not know?
That is putting it out there to the general public. Who gives a shit if the media is talking about it, you don't feed them more fodder by doing this. Why is that hard to understand?
It's not a huge deal but it's unneccesary to make this bigger than the minor issue it was.
I agree. I think it was a rookie HC mistake. I don't expect anything like it to happen again.
