"It's hard for me a little bit. I have a lot of respect for the kids who are out here fighting. But it's hard for me to understand why we have to go to war, why kids have to kill kids around the world," Noah said after Friday's practice. "So I have mixed feelings about being here. I'm very proud of this country. I love America but I just don't understand kids killing kids around the world."
Noah added: "At the end of the day, I'm not anti-troops. It's just not comfortable for me to see kids going out to war and coming back having seen what they've seen, having done what they've done. It's sad for me. It's sad for me because they're just sent out for things that I don't really want to get into it to be honest with you. It's hard for me." |
Ok, I'm all for freedom of speech and expression, but Noah is coming off like a moron in this instance, when there are photos of him yukking it up with the President, who is actually more directly responsible for our foreign agendas than West Point.

I'm sure the cadets wondered where the F is Joakim Noah?
The cadets (or whatever the proper term is) at West Point probably cared a hundred times less than anyone in the media will.
Plus I got hit so hard one year (maybe my sophomore year) I skated to the wrong bench. I could have sworn it was an actual tank on the ice, otherwise beautiful campus great atmosphere and I loved being there.
I do reiterate though I don't think anyone cared that Noah skipped this event.
It's so sad that the ass raping that Bill gave you didn't stick...
Good to see people once again getting the courage to speak their minds--regardless of who it offends.

All good if you're not an NBA fan, but FYI Noah (although he's dealt with some injury issues) is a very good player. So-so scorer but excellent defender & rebounder. DPOY in 2014 (?).
Not that that should or should not legitimize his stance, but he's most definitely not the hoops equivalent of a 2nd string quarterback.
It was a bad trip but a beautiful campus.

I would question your idea of "worst hair" but we aren't allowed to name politicians here.
if it's somewhere else, then the comparison need not apply as the POTUS is more than just C-I-C.

of work in the community. He's a bit of a hippy, but he's probably contributed more to the world then most of the posters here who reflexively dismiss any stance that can be construed as anti military/police/country/authority.

Hes like bacterial resistant MRSA. I just real would love to know if he believes the crap he posts or not.

When you distill it down, these are as much college kids as anything else.
I met this guy on a plane last year who taught at West Point. Either History or English, I can't remember. But i said to him. "It must be great teaching at West Point because all the students must do the reading and being really disciplined." Nope. Slackers, just like everywhere else. Constantly on their phones etc . . . . I had to laugh. Shows we all have preconceptions.

You are kidding right? You are not allowed to offend anyone. That is why there are safe spaces, trigger warnings and political correctness. Controversy is not allowed on campus if your view doesn't meet the academic elite.

I thought it was more recent, but it was several years ago at Bulls camp. Only reason I thought it was recent was the photo showed him and Rose in blue jerseys, so I assumed those were Knicks jerseys.

I agree. But I also see political correctness coming from the Right, not just the Left.
To me, old-fashioned courtesy should be the rule. If I know you come from a military family, I won't say anything against the military because that would just be rude and needlessly offensive. Ditto for comments about race, gender, sexual orientation etc. . .. If you are hanging out with your African American coworker, don't call the boss a "slavedriver." If you are hanging out with your female coworker, don't call somebody a "pussy" or a "twat." That's just politeness and consideration.

I would like to see the typical college kid endure a week at West Point.
As for the hoopster. That's his call. Nobody really gives a shit do they?

I disagree with your 1st sentence and totally agree with your second.
But now I am treading on thin ice and don't wish to be banned.
Just what corporation does ISIS fight for or Abu Sayyef, or Al Qaeda?
Agreed.
Agree. I don't think that narcissist could have squeezed in another "I" or "me" despite how much he loves himself.
Think about the contrast between the students at West Point and most of the rest of their generation.

Forget about it MG. It's a whole other world of beliefs and responsibilities.
Agreed.
Plenty of people care, it's a massive issue right now. Atleast he did this on his own time, but that's where defending him stops. I don't agree with the message it sends but he's free to do what he wants. I'd have a problem if he did this during a Knicks game.

But seriously, so he didn't want to go, does it really matter for what reason? It's his choice.
Let people protest anything they want, it's their right. The fact that the media covers it is the confusing part.
