well they would still need teams to lose. if Bama, Clemson, Ohio St, and Houston go undefeated - they would be left out.
They have by far the weakest schedule out of any contender.

A power 5 conference school with a conference title game is never being left out of the playoff if they go undefeated.

Even with wins against Houston and Louisville? Eek. That would suck. Washington would be 14 point underdogs to any of the top 3.
And yes even with wins against both of those. The power 5 conferences have way too much power.
