NFT: Ryder Cup - Day 2

Saos1n : 10/1/2016 8:48 am
Foursomes to start

Phil and Fowler starting us off... Fowler just made a birdie putt after driving off right in the bunker...

And Pieters just matched it and shushes the crowd after, ala Patrick Reed
And Koepka just pulled his tee shot on 1

Toward the portapotty fence...

Phil Mickelson is a joke. Has an excuse and a finger to point for everything. For someone with his talent, it's a shame his heart doesn't match his mouth.

And I was always a Phil guy during the Tiger/Phil battles.
Phil and Rickie are a joke together

And this is after that putt by Phil... break this pairing up... for once

Has been terrible...
Walker and Zach Johnson
Stufftherun : 10/1/2016 12:25 pm : link
have been dreadful. Not on line with their approach shots, poor putting including missing some near gimmees, just poor overall.
I would not
batman11 : 10/1/2016 12:51 pm : link
have sat DJ, especially on this course. Sit Michelson. I also would have had Bubba on the team. D Love better hope they win....
Phil and Kuch playing together this afternoon
jlukes : 10/1/2016 1:12 pm : link
Love coaching as if he doesn't want to piss Phil off.
Incredible that gravity
Stufftherun : 10/1/2016 1:13 pm : link
didn't pull that Spieth putt down, just incredibly bad luck.
Spieth and Reed
MookGiants : 10/1/2016 1:14 pm : link

Yup, they're just about to cap off a titanic choke.
Reed
gmenatlarge : 10/1/2016 1:26 pm : link
Stupidly hits driver on 15 and pisses the hole away ,leading to euro comeback. Gave away a half point!
Europe
gmenatlarge : 10/1/2016 1:30 pm : link
Slowly chipping away at the American lead and have the momentum, don't know if I can stand to watch anymore choking.
I have never
PaulN : 10/1/2016 2:44 pm : link
Seen such chokers in my life, its the same shit every time they play. I think I am giving it up also, only aggravation awaits.
The jingoism on both sides repulses me.

Great golf, great competition, but...
this thread is worse than a Giants gameday thread

Finally

A great shot from the Americans Reed with the hole out for eagle!
Rory needs to put on a hat.
Kivorkian : 10/1/2016 4:19 pm : link
His mug is tough to take.
Reed
dep026 : 10/1/2016 4:25 pm : link
carrying team USA!!!
Reed
AcidTest : 10/1/2016 4:40 pm : link
is at home in the zone. Five under through four holes, including an eagle. Wow.
Phil Mickelson to BBI:
Stu11 : 10/1/2016 7:01 pm : link
Hows my ass taste?
If Patrick Reed gets this point
dpinzow : 10/1/2016 7:10 pm : link
he would have beaten Stenson and Rose almost singlehandedly.

Westwood with a massive choke on 18 to give that match to the US 1 up
Reed with an insane round to win the final match
dpinzow : 10/1/2016 7:15 pm : link
The US goes into the singles matches up 9 1/2 to 6 1/2
Reed playing great
section125 : 10/1/2016 7:19 pm : link
golf.

Who'd have thought Jordan Spieth would be the weakest player on the team. I'd play him against Andy Sullivan tomorrow.
yea that match may as well have been Reed and some guy from BBI
Stu11 : 10/1/2016 7:19 pm : link
and the US still would have won the point.

Spieth hasn't been the same since his meltdown at Augusta. He still hasn't' fixed his 2 major problems: That miss to the right and lack of distance off the tee. Now he's got the Master's Meltdown on his mind. He's could take a big fall next season.

I agree the Master's meltdown has scarred him badly. I don't worry about distance. He'll never have it more than Tour average. His short game is very shaky.

Euros will make it very close tomorrow. US needs 5 wins.

I expect Phil, Holmes, and Spieth to lose. On the fence with Kuchar.

Expect Rory and Stenson to win. Westwood and Sullivan are most vulnerable for the Euros.

On second thought, Spieth on Rose might be doable.

The picks and matching will be interesting. I might sacrifice a weak player on McIlroy and concede the win. Stenson and Phil might be interesting, but DJ would be my choice vs Stenson.
Lee westwood

Missed the shortest putt I have seen in professional golf in a long time Unbelievable!

dep026 : 10/1/2016 8:43 pm : link
You will see some amazing shots, and some WTF ones.
Spieth wasn't the only one
Greg from LI : 10/1/2016 9:23 pm : link
Holmes carried Moore all afternoon too
i would have sacrificed against McIlroy
markky : 10/1/2016 9:51 pm : link
we could easily lose the first 4. will be very interesting.
you don't want to sacrifice
MookGiants : 10/1/2016 10:04 pm : link
against Rory, especially with him going first. You can't let Europe go out there and get the momentum right from the start.
Spieth will bounce back from a bad Saturday four ball session
Torrag : 10/2/2016 6:16 am : link
It seemed to me that putt from the 17th in the morning session stayed with him. He had played well until then. It burned the hole and missing it cost the US team a halve.

The emotions of this format are such a roller coaster. Managing them, having a short memory and staying in the moment are key.

I guess you didn't see Ernie Els 4 putt in the (I think) Masters?

But yes they were 2 big time chokes! I'd love to see him with a pressure putt. That guy has been the biggest choke of all time. How many times has this guy held a lead going into Sunday and he hasn't won anything!

stretch234 : 10/2/2016 8:54 am : link
If they can't seal the deal with this lineup will it ever happen. The Euro powerhouse lineup: Wood, Sullivan, Fitzpatrick and mightily struggling Kaymer, Willett & Westwood.

I cant see the US finishing less than 16-12

F'n disgusting how some "fans" feel entitled to act so boorishly.
