FF Thread 10-3

superspynyg : 10/3/2016 8:42 am
Yesterday was brutal for me. I got KILLED in one league 195-115. The other I sweated out all last nights game. Julio gets me 45 points. The rest of my team stunk the bed. I did not take the lead till about 2:00 left in the 4th when they finally gave the ball to Ware and he broke a 34 yard run.

I will be 3-1 in both leagues. Going into week 5 byes.
i will probably suffer my 1st loss
UConn4523 : 10/3/2016 8:45 am : link
i need Beckham to score 6 more points than Cruz, I don't really like my chances against a good defense.

Cam, Sims, and Snead really shit the bed for me.

Had I have gone with my gut and subbed Graham in over Snead I would have been golden, but that's fantasy. Speaking of Graham, how bout him? I think he will be a weekly starter for me moving forward.
I can't get the QBs right
giantsfan44ab : 10/3/2016 8:47 am : link
Each week my bench QB(s) outscore my starter. I played cousins over car Carr and Wilson. Also played Blount over Marshall. Might actually lose if Odell+McKinnon get 17 points + in standard. Looked good but then Big hen went off and then Kelce got a garbage time score. Helped me in another league where I had Brown and Big Ben. I'm up 8.5 against Sheppard in half Ppr. I'll readily accept losses in both leagues as long as the Giants win.
Ever have one of those weeks?
dep026 : 10/3/2016 8:47 am : link
Yeah, well I just had it big time.

Brees - ok
Miller and Forte - blah
Landry and Beasley - double blech
Howard - decent
Bailey - another missed FG
Chiefs - yeah, well ya know.

Still get Beckham but I have no prayer. Still waiting for my top 3 picks to get into the end zone.
LIkely 0 - 2 this week
pjcas18 : 10/3/2016 8:53 am : link
played against Julio Jones AND F-ING Le'Veon Bell in both leagues.

One league is way out of reach, the guy also had huge games from Will Fuller, and other players I can't remember, but it's out of reach.

The other league I have a glimmer of hope, PPR and I need 66 points (to tie) from Eli, Beckham, Shepard, and Giants D.

That would be something like:

Eli: 200 yards and 2 TDs: 20 pts
Beckham: 6 catches, 80 yards and 1 TD: 20 pts
Shepard: 6 catches 60 yards and 1 TD: 18 pts
Giants D: under 20 points allowed, 2 sacks, 1 pick: 9 pts

= 67 points

possible, but unlikely

Graham has played well.
robbieballs2003 : 10/3/2016 8:55 am : link
I too had a horrendous week but I can still pull some out. I won my work league but I am the high scorer with the Giants D still left. The guy I am playing was the third highest scorer. Other than that, my other teams didnt play well.

I have only one TE on my roster and that is Julius Thomas. I tried picking up another TE but was outbid. I was contemplating trading for another TE but that guy was injured. I am up by a few points with Beckham and Josh Brown against McKinnon and the Giants D. Hopefully I can pull that out.

I am down by 52 points in another league with Eli and the Giants D left. I truly doubt that happens. It would be awesome if it does though.

In another I am down 12 points with Walsh and the Giants D against McKinnon. Not looking good.

In my other one I am getting destroyed by 43 points with just the Giants D left. Not happening. Haha.
Wow, I am off to a terrible start to the season
MadPlaid : 10/3/2016 9:01 am : link
0-4. UGH!!!

The first three weeks I was mostly unlucky, losing by only an average of less than 5 points. But this week I got spanked. My opponent had Matt Ryan, and most of my team couldn't smell a touchdown let alone score one. To say I am bummed out, is putting it mildly. Pity party for Bradley.

I also had a bad week despite starting 3-0.

The Lions game + Cooks drove me nuts. Need 35 from Orleans and Rudolph tonight lol

At least I have Brady coming back next week

a bad week too**
Finally "won" my first game...
TheEvilLurker : 10/3/2016 9:37 am : link
Had trouble with players scoring last 3 weeks, not this week.

Winning by 30 with my opponent having a field goal kicker left.
I commited the cardinal sin of Fantasy Football
Drewcon40 : 10/3/2016 10:16 am : link
Driving to my son's soccer game, I am listening to sports radio. I started chatting with other fathers who had some skin in the Jags/Colts. I say to one "Man, the local media has the Jets holding the Seahawks to 14 to 17 points. I picked up Trevor Siemian and thinking about starting him." Other father "Me too! I am starting Siemian!". I then launch the CBS app and make the switch.

My opponent had Julio Jones and Michael Crabtree.

Thank you for reading but 20 years of Fantasy Footall I broke the "never bench your studs!" I hope this prevents my BBI friends from a similar fate.
^^sorry Russell Wilson was the QB in the previous post

One of my teams is going to be 3-1 and is loaded...
arcarsenal : 10/3/2016 10:23 am : link
The other is 1-3 and in trouble. Of course, benching Eli for Stafford totally backfired. Lockett is playing with a PCL injury and might not even be worth rostering anymore.. missed out on Smith Sr by $2 and was stupid not to bid more aggressively on him. And I have to wait another week to put Charles in my lineup because KC has a bye now. Ugh.
never bench your studs is right

there's of course scenarios where it makes sense, but the majority of the time you will be guessing wrong.

Kelce. 2nd week in a row I've lost on the last play. Luckily, I'm in good shape going forward in those leagues. Unfortunately, went to 0-4 in another.
I am up 44 points
santacruzom : 10/3/2016 11:01 am : link
But I hope I lose, as my opponent has Eli as his only remaining player.
I had Julio and Crabtree

He and Gronkowski have combined to give me 8 points total in 2 weeks. Add in Cooks and they gave me 13 for my 3 top guys over two weeks. Still won again because I got lucky. Kelvin Benjamin at least scored a TD. Much better than the goose egg he got week 3.

I need help going forward. I have a ton of injured guys - Decker, Moncrief, Martin, Stewart and Ingram and Cooks will be on the bye. Going to have to waive somebody I like.

Unless you're in a deep league, I think it's Moncrief. But wait as long as you can, because there is still a chance that Decker is placed on IR. I waived Moncrief shortly after the injury because I have several injured I wanted to retain and needed to make an add. Nobody has touched him (10 team league). I do expect that eventually someone will pick him up, but probably about a week before he's expected to return.

TL/DR: Waive Moncrief.
I have a pretty good chance of going 4-0
allstarjim : 10/3/2016 12:16 pm : link
And am almost assuredly going at least 3-1.

I need about 38 points from Eli, Beckham, and Giants Def. Sounds like a lot, but just one 25 yard TD from Eli to Beckham is 15.5 points by itself. Formula is at least 20 fantasy points from Eli, at least a dozen from Beckham, and at least 6 from the Defense... entirely doable.
Also, that's 4-0 for the week
allstarjim : 10/3/2016 12:20 pm : link
It's been a good weekend for me. I have Julio in one league, but didn't face him in any of the other 3 leagues.

My scorecard is:

12 Team "pro" league: 'W' 3-1
10 Team standard money league: 4-0
10 Team keeper money league: 1-2, need the 38 points to improve to 2-2 (injuries have hit hard).
6 Team friends "for fun" league: 1-3 (bad luck, posting good scoring weeks but running into other team's good weeks, too).
I need Eli
Reeses Pieces : 10/3/2016 12:26 pm : link
to go for 15 tonight to secure the win. 6pt TD The win is not even in question!!
I got hosed by...
BamaBlue : 10/3/2016 12:27 pm : link
Cam
Pitta
Snead

I got some good numbers from:
Antonio Brown
Bengals Defense
Justin Tucker

I got Darkwa and Beckham tonight. They would have to score 60 points for me to win... yeah, that'll happen.
I also gave some bad fantasy advice on yahoo
allstarjim : 10/3/2016 12:47 pm : link
Guy had Fuller vs TEN, Pryor vs Redskins (and Josh Norman), and Travis Benjamin against the terrible Saints.

Of course, looking at that delicious matchup, and with T. Benjamin in a premium passing offense with a good passing QB, I recommended him.

Benjamin has his worst game of the season, just 48 yards, no TD, and a lost fumble, 2.8 fantasy points.

Pryor only gets 46 yards receiving, and -6 rushing, but hits paydirt with a score, so 10.0 fantasy points.

Fuller goes off on Tennessee, with 81 yards and a TD, plus a return TD, for 20.10 fantasy points.

Well... that's fantasy football for you. I did have Fuller playing in one league, so at least I benefitted a little. Traded him for Shepard in another league straight up, and the guy I traded him to didn't start him... started Benjamin instead, and lost by 13. Would've won by 4. Ouch.
Is Terrence West worthy of #1 waiver pick?

Also would any of you trade Julio + 1
DennyInDenville : 10/3/2016 12:52 pm : link
For Gronk and Bell?
I've dropped to 2-2
giantgiantfan : 10/3/2016 12:59 pm : link
But in that time I've picked up Doug Martin off waivers and the Philly Defense. Hoping I can go on a nice little win streak coming up here. Play #1 team in my league next week, my god damn friends mom has to be in for a down week sometime.

Depends on who your other WRs are and the scoring system in your league.
Man, my team freaking rocks thus far
santacruzom : 10/3/2016 1:04 pm : link
Roethlisberger, AB, Freeman, and Hyde alone put me in position to win most games. Tucker usually scores 10+ as a kicker. Delanie Walker has disappointed but Hunter Henry is emerging.

I just gotta figure out if I want to keep Michael Floyd.

It really depends on your league settings and your roster. What type of league... PPR/Standard? Are you deep at receiver? Who do you have at the TE position currently?

You said Julio and 1... is this a keeper league? I think a first rounder is too steep for you to give up, but depending on the other questions above, I would negotiate to a 4th or a 5th. Possibly as high as a 3rd, but it really depends on your situation. Julio's stock is, of course, way up after yesterday. Good time to capitalize (also not necessarily a bad idea to just enjoy the ride with him).

No he is not. That RB situation is very fluid in Baltimore, and he could be relegated to the bench as soon as week 6. This is not the week to blow your waiver priority.
Dixon is the back to own in Baltimore
UConn4523 : 10/3/2016 1:09 pm : link
I picked him up a couple weeks back and every report since sounds like the team is begging for him to pan out. I wouldn't use a high waiver on anyone but him when it comes to that backfield.

Question
giantgiantfan : 10/3/2016 1:19 pm : link
Playing #1 seed this week. They have Drew Brees (bye) and no other QBs. Should I pick up Carson Wentz to deny her a quality QB? This would leave them with Winston, Tannehill, and other less than ideal options.

I have Arian Foster and am not too worried about dropping him as I have Gurley, Gordon, Michael, and Martin.

Keeper league? I'd pick up Wentz just in general based on who your own backup QB is anyway. Granted 3-game sample, but he looks legit. Like I wish he wasn't on the Eagles legit.

I don't know that I'd drop Arian Foster for him, but I dropped Justin Forsett for him and felt good about it.

Non-keeper, PPR. QBs are Ryan / Manning.

I'll elaborate more on the jones offer another time

Is WR John Brown worthy of a number 1 waiver claim??

I have J Jones, Landry, Cooper, Benjamin currently but was relying on Josh Gordon as depth/starter, Michael Thomas and Tavon Austin are my bench guys. Should I use number 1 waiver on John Brown?
I'm gonna do it
giantgiantfan : 10/3/2016 2:12 pm : link
Realized I have Miami defense on my bench for some reason, if there are no worthy wire pickups then I'll grab Wentz. I am very needy at TE though, but I can probably grab Wentz then drop him Saturday night for some garbage TE if I can't find a worthy one..

He's a feast or famine guy IMO. You have a solid 1-2 punch with Jones and Cooper. So really he's a bye-week guy or potential flex play. If he's the best available, get him, if nothing else you deny a potential flex-play to an opponent.

Thanks, to elaborate more

It's 10 team league but the format is .5 PPR and you start

3 WR
1 RB
And 2 flex RB/WR
1 TE
1QB
1 K
1 D
In that

Well that gets closer to a toss up. Who is the backup QB in AZ? Palmer likely misses this week. But I'd look at long term picture here.
Then again
giantgiantfan : 10/3/2016 2:31 pm : link
do you want to listen to a guy who is barely 2-2 in his league and lost last week by Benching Allen Robinson in favor of Travis Benjamin?

I am very conservative when it comes to my waiver priority. I try to add guys I like via free agency whenever possible. I don't think your 5th through 7th best receiver is worthy of your #1 waiver priority. So I would be a 'no'. If a guy ends up passing through waivers, get him as a free agent ASAP.

I recently used my waiver priority on Jordan Howard. I had managed my priority until I was #1. I was getting a 3 down RB that had shown immense ability and has no one ahead of him. He will be a weekly starter on my team, likely as my RB2 every week. This is the kind of player I want to use my waiver priority on. But the main test is, would this player start for me weekly and be an obvious upgrade? If the answer is yes, you should probably do it. If not, then your waiver priority will be used on someone else before too long in which the answer will be a clear and definitive 'YES'.
