This is a true and false statement. While not all officers lean left, proportionally, more officers lean left than enlisted.
I learned something new - officers are leftist(?) - I might call BS on this one.
Maybe your peers aren't so much left leaners, but I've met many more officers than I originally assumed, who do lean left not only politically but socially as well. And this isn't just small groups in specific services.
Now I'm not saying that officers in general lean left, but a sizable number do. And compared to our enlisted counterparts, it is far greater proportionally.
And this is just my opinion based on my anecdotal experience, but I find those (military personnel) who do lean left more critical thinkers with more empathy than those leaning traditionally right. This is, by no means backed by any empirical evidence, but it's almost like those who fall into the traditional conservative service member stereotype seek path of least resistance when forming their opinions on various social and political issues. I know I'll get shit ton of hate for that, but that's what I've seen in my 18 years in the military (in one capacity or another).

I've learned that these Friday threads used to be entertaining.

I've learned that radar knows more about football than 90% of the posters on this thread ( and 95% of posters on this board) but has no clue about Dylan's contribution to society as it has formed because of him ( and I'm more a street poet ( Springsteen) follower than a revolutionary). Fault me for being younger than needed or excessive use of parenthesis.
I've also learned, as a former bouncer and current resident of Wilmington, NC ( 40 minutes south of Camp LeJuene) that most Marines are complete assholes that need their ass kicked occasionally no matter the protection duty they are charged with.
But I do agree that most Marines are, indeed, assholes and need their asses kicked. I'm sure you've done your fair share of asskicking, and I think we all owe you our appreciation.
