On Ranger threads as in years past. Maybe some feel we will be doormats in the East. I'm not one of those. Frankly the influx of youth has got me more excited this year. I think the road game tonight will be a big test.
I think we're still outside contenders. We have a goalie and forward depth. Still enough assets to upgrade the blue line. The early exit from the playoffs may leave our guys more rested for this year.
are a favorite in the East like the past couple seasons, but still consider them playoff contenders, and then as we have all seen once you get in the playoffs seeding means little.
and if Hank is on his game the Rangers have a goalie who is capable of winning a cup.
I don't think there's less posting on threads because people are down on the team, it's just October and a Saturday.
My wife was wrapped up in a nursery school fundraiser all day, so I was flying solo with the kids. Had a blast with them, but long day! My 2 year old son just put a nice exclamation point on it by taking a shit in the bathtub. So I got to re-bathe him in my shower, and now bleaching the tub and toys in his bathroom.
Vodka. Rocks. Hockey. It is known.
90 more minutes to straighten this joint out and then I'm getting stuck on the sectional.
I feel like the Rangers management on the D is like the Giants management on the OL.
What are they seeing that I'm not????
John Jerry, I mean Mark Staal, is the best.
Well it sounds like you agree -- though I think it's Newhouse and Girardi, LOL
I would really try for Jacob Trouba and wait for Shattenkirk next offseason. Somehow they have to drop Nash and/or, by some miracle, move Staal or Girardi. It was so dumb to resign Staal long term.

Sorry but I had to lol nothing worse than the dreaded floater. Kick back and enjoy the game you earned it. I have only one, nearly 3 year old daughter but she's got energy to burn and then some. Was out all day with her -- awesome but exhausting.
A smile, but I am smiling. This team looks promising, much more than I thought before the season started. Still very early though, plenty of time for them to disappoint me
Didn't see the game but through two games at least we seem to be controlling play unlike last year.
Would like to see Hank start to shut down teams though. Obviously really early but it's been a year now since he got on one of those rolls.
He's got another gear or two in the arsenal from what we've seen, but he's been completely hung out to dry on a number of these goals. He didn't stand on his head tonight, but there's not much of a gripe to be had.
That is one of the best games I have seen the Rangers play in 2 years. This team appears to be the polar opposite of last year's team, and seems to be well-balanced. They have tons of skill, good size, youth, speed, improved special teams, strong puck possession, and of course great goaltending. Too bad they couldn't have come away with a win tonight, but this is a fun team to watch. Having 4 really strong lines all with scoring touch is excellent. Mika Zibanejad has instantly become my favorite player on the team, he does it all. Vesey and Buchnevich are both making a big impact (though Buchnevich has been prone to some bad turnovers the first few games).
That all said, they lost. Schedule is really tough coming up with San Jose and Detroit coming to MSG, then going to DC next Saturday. Can we get McIlrath in there for Holden? I feel like Holden has been a turnover machine so far, and made a really poor play on the second Blues goal.
Is this the year he finally takes it to the next level? Sure looks like it, but we have seen this from him before, only to see him disappear for a couple weeks at a time.

Lundquist usually starts slow. None of the goals looked "bad" to me. But, yeah, you would like him to stop either Tarashenko or the power play goal. But those were also two good shots. Hank did not move on the power play goal. I think he was expecting him to go high over the shoulder--to his weak spot. Got outguessed
Hutton didn't steal anything. The fucking post did. Yeah he made a lot of nice saves but include the two wide open nets Vesey missed and the four or five clanks off the post this could have been a blowout. Take into account they had 15 shots on goal to the Blues 0 in the third including two of those posts and this was one of those games that defies logic. No puck luck.
I had to watch the Blues feed and Darren Pang was very effusive in his praise of how well the Rangers played and thinks they are going to be a very entertaining team to watch this year. He likes their size and speed and basically called it like he saw it. He felt the Blues were very fortunate to win. Just one of those games. That's hockey.
"Think something could be up. Those dudes don't usually do that "
DOn't get it though. Put anyone in there and its an upgrade. Just find a guy who can shoot right, play 22 min, block shots and hit everyone its not really something worth fretting over or giving up assets.

#NYR have Chris Drury and Gordie Clark in attendance here tonight. Could be checking out Ducks' D-men.
I hope they aren't after Fowler.
I don't get AV's treatment of McIlrath. I think he showed he's an NHL defenseman last year - just not sure if that's top four or just a third pair guy.
I like Clendening so far. I think he looks really good - don't know his back story and why he hasn't stuck anywhere.

Saw him in Hartford three times and he is a very, very stay at home defenseman b/c he doesn't skate well. Players will blow right by him if he's caught up ice a bit. No question though, he does seek out others to make contact with. Would like to see him out there yet i can understand why he might not be out there.
how the Rangers, who have some cap room but not a lot, are going to help out a capped team. We can't fit a player like Fowler and they're certainly not looking or able to take back one of our shit contracts.
I read something recently suggesting that his problem is short area skating. He can do a fine job getting back from blue line to blue line, but that he's plodding getting from the corner to the crease. I'll have to watch for that.

I mumbled a few four letter words when it happened, but I'm blessed to have that little bath-shitter to clean up after.
But yeah, #thatvodkatho
this is the goal you're referencing?
May be a Russian training preference. I recall there was a shirtless pic of Ovie a few years ago and his upper body was completely undeveloped.

Apparently has really thick legs.

I remember the same thing with Malkin.
Ovechkin kind of looks chubby now. Not quite Phil Kessel, obviously.

It's just a blatant duff at the blue line directly handing him a breakaway

What else would I be referencing, Seth?
I thought it was a weakish call.
McD-Clendo
Staal-G
Skjei-Holden
?
No?
Definitely mixing it up though.
Whatever it is, more Clendenning please
Holy shit.
I'll take it. Let's roll the dice.
lol - please don't ask such silly questions
Staal sucks
The 2nd unit is the guy McD is used to playing PP with, and Clendo moves the puck chop-quick.
Also even with the extra man it looked like even skating. What shitty possession once they pulled Hank.
Vesey-step-Zucc deserves some pay dirt soon.

I'm not one to constantly be trading in my fan-brain, but with Lindberg coming back soon, they need to think about upgrading the top 4 defensemen.
We have 1 top-pairing guy and like 7 guys who are perfectly acceptable to be 3rd-6th best defensemen in a good team.

Of course, the Rangers can't fit him under the cap either.
