S Landon Collins
Postgame vs. Baltimore, October 16, 2016
Q: As a fellow defensive back, can you describe your thoughts on the Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie pass interference call?
A: The referee made the call that he saw. As a defensive player, we all know that you see other things and you see a different way. But the refs made the call and we have to live with it.
Q: How much does a victory like that re-invigorate the confidence in the locker room?
A: It does a lot. It gives us a momentum and a boost that we fought and won. We trusted that we have the confidence in each other to win the game.
Q: What was the biggest difference for you guys between the first half and the second half?
A: Confidence that defense was going to come out and play our best game. Play strong and come out with the win.
Q: As the game went on, the defense gained confidence. How did the (Ravens’) receivers respond to that? It looked like they were more confident in the first quarter than they were as the game went on.
A: We were just trying to create a force and make tackles to make sure they (felt our pressure), make them not catch any balls. They caught a few but we were trying to make sure they didn’t get any. (INAUDIBLE)
Q: On that goal line stand, what was your pressure?
A: That’s what we’re built for. That’s the defense we made. (INAUDIBLE)…That’s what we want out of it.
Q: You guys talk a lot about flushing plays that don’t go your way. What do you guys do to maintain your poise, especially when you give them the lead on a questionable call?
A: Just turn the page. We have a (dynamic) offense that we have a lot of trust in. We have the confidence that they’re going to march the ball down the field and get us back in the game. We, as the defense, we try to stop them (and you get bad calls sometimes). But we fight all the way to the end.
Q: You had a third down where (Joe) Flacco threw the ball and your man caught it. What’d you see on that play? You had the underneath on (Kamar Aiken).
A: When I looked back, I lost the ball because something was in my face. (REMAINDER IS INAUDIBLE)
Q: When you’re on the sideline and you’re looking at what Odell Beckham Jr. and Eli Manning are doing to an opposing defense, what’s going through your mind?
A: That’s what we expect. That’s what we try to get out of offense at all times. That’s a great duo and they did a great job today. Just have to get the ball in his hands and make those opportunities count.
Q: The defense played 35 minutes on the field, 76 plays. Can you talk about what the defense is talking about on the field to stick together and make those plays?
A: We have confidence in one another to make plays and make sure we (INAUDIBLE) on third down. That’s our biggest key. We had problems with doing that last year and getting the ball back to the offense so they can get down the field and score. That’s where our mindset it. Make a play and get off the field.
Q: Early on, on third downs, you guys had problems. What changed?
A: The mindset of our defense. We knew what we had to do and we knew the kind of dashes on the couple third downs from the first quarter. We could not have that, because we knew what kind of defense we are and that we had to get off the field.
Would be nice see what the Giants have in D Thompson if that day ever comes...
Cowboys' FS Roy Williams made it five times, so...

And he still is pretty poor at it.

He also made a really poor play on that jump ball.
But he's really good near the line of scrimmage. Glad to see the coaching staff scheming to his strengths.

Must kill you that Collins is our best player on defense. Absolute dominant again today.

Nice non-sequitur. But yeah, actually it does. When a SS who can't cover is your best player, you're very unlikely to have a great defense. And sure enough, we'd be a lot better if someone else like one of the DL was having a monster year.
But he's been very good and I'm glad about that. Team first, unlike you who seemingly would rather take an L so long as Eli looks good.

lol, yes I root for the Giants to lose. Must have killed you seeing Eli throw a 4th quarter GW TD. I know you take great happiness seeing him struggle. You team guy!
Yeah that's a weird comment. And he wasn't dominant today. He was good, like many players on the D. Jenkins, DRC, Casillas, JPP, Snacks Harrison. (Not loving Vernon yet).
No one is playing lights out. But that's fine because they're clearly out of the NFL basement as a defense which will allow them to win close games moving forward if the offense performs. It's a huge relief after reliable swiss cheese of the past few years.
Best SS we have had in a long time he is also good
on the blitz and can lay the wood . Its his 2nd year
for gods sake ..
