NFT: Traveling to Disneyland Xmas/New Year's Timeframe

Boy Cord : 10/17/2016 4:37 pm
I have never flown on or around Xmas and New Year's. Any suggestions on which days to stay away from? Flying from DC area.

Also, can anyone recommend hotels in the Anaheim area? We have two children 3 and 9. Desert Palms Hotel & Suites looks decent with good reviews and they have some kitchenettes.

Thanks.

in a hotel without kitchen services and one microwave in the lobby's snack room. Go for the kitchenette, even if it's just heating up last night's leftovers.
Busiest time of year for Disney area

Do yourself a favor...get the fast pass. It costs but it saves you a crap load of time. Especially with young impatient kids.

I live in the area so I dont stay at local hotels but I would focus on Embassy Suites or any Marriott brand hotel. The hotels around Disney are kind of beat up.

There are some real rat holes.

That's their busiest time. The lines are looooooooooong even for the lame rides.
Christmas and New Years at Disneyland

On the good side, Disneyland does Christmas very, very well. There are lots of special attractions and shows, and the whole place is redone. Also, I've always thought that Disneyland is better than Disney World for families with very young children because its more compact and easier to get to your hotel.

On the bad side its very very crowded. Disneyland park was built in the 50's and does not accommodate large crowds as well as the Magic Kingdom. The California Adventure , however does and has rides that would appeal to your 3 year old. The Disneyland hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel are right next to the park. The Grand Californian is in the Park. All three are expensive. Of the non Disney hotels the closest is the Hilton. As Hiltons go, its not overly expensive

The disneyland fast pass doesn't cost, however you have to get fast passes individually for each ride. Space Mountain and Indiana Jones are generally the most in demand rides although this year Star Tours should be hot.

Disneyland is awesome. Went in July. Disney seems to do everything well. I enjoyed California Adventure more than Disneyland, but the whole experience was aweome. First disney experience at age 33.
just came back from Disneyland Halloween Party

had a blast...download the app for wait times and fast pass times...the majority of the fast passes were either shut down, "sold out" and/or late fast pass times.
