Nah Kyle Bogart or WTF his name is did a horrible job
against us . Tonight every other play there is a
hankie . Some are so ticky tack I mean Christ let them
play football.
Signing Fitz was a mistake. He had his best season ever last year and that wasn't enough to make the playoffs. He's a solid backup prone to throwing picks at the wrong time.
Seems like the Jets defense has taken a step back this season.
More horrendous officiating by Blandino's troupe of ass monkeys.
So with all the rest of the Jets woes, here comes a QB controversy!
A fumble and pick was actually pretty terrible.
Eh, the pick was on 4th down with everyone covered and nowhere to run, not a great pass but considering it was forced not the worst.
The fumble was courtesy of his protection going to shit. He still hasn't had any meaningful playing time, all things considered he wasn't any worse than Fitzpatrick.
If they have a QB controversy over what we just saw,
that would be laugh out loud funny. They both suck and Geno isn't going to do shit. He didn't look particularly good.
Yeah, but Fitzpatrick's been worse and he's old as dirt. If I know Jets fans (and sadly I've got more than my fair share near me), they'll be calling for a change tomorrow.
Aaah. Just watched the replay on NFLN. No matter how bad things get,
rather it should be between Petty & Hackenberg. Clearly, the Jets are going nowhere quickly and an aging Fitzpatrick along with a 27 year old Geno are not suddenly morphing into the quality players that they have demonstrated themselves not to be for years. Hell, even Bryce Petty is 25 years old and has shown less than Ryan Nassib. At least Hackenberg has a lot of youth on his side...
The irony is that the Jets have committed four roster spots to quarterbacks, with none of them demonstrating any ability to produce at this point. In the preseason many Jets fans were mentioning that their QB logjam was a nice problem to have while operating under some false illusion that quantity counts over quality in the NFL. In hindsight it would've been prudent for the Jets to have picked their veteran (Geno or Fitz) and discard the other while developing Petty & Hackenberg. Now, as it stands, you have two veteran QBs hogging the practice reps and mucking up the QB room while your developmental players languish.
Chalk this entire situation up to another case study in why Eli Manning has been a godsend for the NY Giants.

I was/am a big Hackenberg guy. I was hoping he'd slip to the 4th round or so into the Giants lap...that being said, Franklin really screwed him up. He basically has to learn how to throw again.
Add that to the fact he's with the Jets, who haven't developed a QB since...well, it's been a while.
Hack has the tools, and had the arm.. but right now he's erratic/inconsistent/inaccurate. He's a mess.

See, I'm figuring the Jets will easily retain one or both of Petty/Hackenburg until next camp. Smith, on the other hand, doesn't likely play into their plans in any way. He's got one more year left on his contract after this one.
If they can get him to show any ability whatsoever this year, they can either reverse course and try to retain him (unlikely), or trade him before his contract expires for whatever they can get in return.

Same camp here. Guy was a legit prospect after his freshman year, but Franklin was the absolute worst fit. If you look at McSorely now, he's basically making plays with his feet - no mechanics whatsoever.
Too bad for Hackenberg he went to an organization whose track record with developing QBs since Namath is O'Brien and Pennington.
Yep..if I were to handicap the chances of the Jets QBs going forward..
I'd think that Hackeberg is my guy. Not to suggest that he's a tremendous prospect but Hackenberg has youth (21), a sterling HS pedigree (suggests pure talent), and some demonstrated collegiate success in a pro-style system (with Bill OB). Meanwhile, unless Petty is the second coming of Tony Romo, history is not on the side of a 25 year old coming from a collegiate spread offense and who has failed to ascend to QB2 through a couple years.
As for Geno, I'm not so sure that he has much value to the Jets or otherwise next year. This is a guy who clearly believes he can/should start, is rankled when not starting, and doesn't appear to be the best teammate (ex. broken jaw). I'm not sure that any organization will be looking to take a chance on a 28 year old Geno to start and would want to introduce him to their QB room as a backup.

The problem is, Hack is a project at this point..which is FINE because of his age, but the Jets don't have a great track record on developing QBs.
Does anyone know how much dead money, or sunk cost, the Jets have tied up in Geno and Fitz? Can't remember if they gave Fitz a one year deal for 2016. What a waste. I guess the Jets thought Fitz would be better than last year and that they would make a run into the playoffs. Must be really brutal to be a Jets fan.
He'd rather say "fause start" about 10 times a game and throw flags like it is rice at a wedding than actually make good calls.
Haven't bothered to follow the media's take on the officiating, so i'll ask, are they making any noise over this? Enough noise to get Goodell's attention? The owners have to notice..
I guess because the Giants won that not much fallout happened because of the DRC call. Which is bad.
I'm actually more shocked that more wasn't made of the Duke Johnson fumble recovery. It made the rounds on the highlight shows and I think it was even part of the "C'mon Man!" segment, but there was never any real discussion on how the hell a team is awarded the ball in a victory when the opposition has it in a potential go ahead drive.
It was more of a topic of laughter than "How the fuck did that just happen".
I do not know the exact details, but it was reported that Fitzpatrick signed what is essentially a 1-year contract. It would seem obvious to anyone (hopefully even to Bowles) that investing any more time in him is a total waste.
Unless there was an extension I am not aware of, Geno is on the final year of his 4-year contract as a non-1st rd draft choice. He is young enough to re-sign, and probably would be relatively cheap. This probably is not in the cards as I believe that Bowles blames him (with or without justification) for messing up Plan A with the broken jaw last year. The honest truth is that in year 4 the Jets do not know what they have here, but evidently Geno has not been creating such a storm in practice that he is forcing himself into the lineup.
Hackenburg is probably a 2-year reinvention just to get the mechanics back. Plenty of physical talent, but the same can be said of Geno.
That really leaves Petty. You almost have to do this unless what he is showing in practice demonstrates no chance that he is ready to be competitive.
Smith does not have another year on his deal. I think that they held on to him expecting to get some kind of pick back - with all the QB injuries it looked like they might. I can't believe that the guy was waving his arms around like they should put him in and they actually did. I'd have sent him back to the lockers for that shit. They will hold him and hope his next contracts help them net a compensatory pick.
Fitzpatrick is on a one year deal, but it was structured with a voidable year so it is somehow $7M/$5M instead of straight $12M. I don't know how that plays into next year because I doubt they will want him back.
Petty may have been the #2, but he hurt his shoulder during the preseason. He actually looked better than I expected. Worlds better than last preseason.
Hopefully Hackenberg will amount to something, but they will be in a difficult position next year. They needed a middling vet to hold the fort, while they brought Petty and Hack along. Fitzpatrick was good for that, but at $12M you can't sit him and you can't bring him back next year, unless it is for pure backup money. Add to that the fact that the coaching has been suspect (they look unprepared, undisciplined - though some of last night's penalties were ridiculous, and with a defensive guru DB as head coach you would think they wouldn't have so many blown coverages) these guys will have to make a splash next year because they are not likely to give this FO the opportunity to develop a QB.
And continued his bashing of Marshall, along with asking Wilkerson to give some money back -- the same guy he was BEGGING the Jets to have back a few months ago.
didn't catch the Duke Johnson play and controversy...what was the deal on replay?
also, for the poster above who said Petty is no better than our very own Ryan Nassib, Petty had a nice exhibition outing or two in pre-season, and our guy looks to have regressed and to not give a shit...Giants are going to have to spend some draft pick coin pretty darn soon at the QB position
In the Redskins-Browns game, the Browns were down 3 or 4 and had the ball at about their own 40. They ran a running play, the ball came out and bounced right back up to Duke Johnson. While he is standing OUTSIDE the pile with the ball, the female ref on Triplette's crew signals that it is Washington's ball. While coaches and Johnson are arguing the call from the sidelines, the refs put the ball in play without seemingly ever doing a replay.
Blandino came out after the game and said the female ref saw a clear recovery by Washington before Duke Johnson had the ball, which couldn't have been disputed by replay. Unfortunately, the video doesn't support it and the replay never happened.
Awful.
If I was good at photoshop I'd make one of the Giants running out of the tunnel yesterday with flags coming in from all directions
no teeth ? Or marbles in his mouth .
Somehow I remember Bogus screwing us in a game ..

I don't care if he has to use sign language to deliver the calls, just do a better job of officiating and enable your crew to do it as well.
