CB Janoris Jenkins

October 19, 2016

Q: How hard was it to leave the Rams?

A: It was hard, but business is business. I am gone and I am here now.

Q: Do you keep in touch with any of those guys?

A: Oh yeah, I keep in touch with Trumaine Johnson, E.J. Gaines, the safety Mo Alexander, we communicate a lot.

Q: Jeff Fisher said that he thinks you are playing like the best cornerback in the league right now. Do you think he is buttering you up?

A: I don’t know. I am just playing football and doing what I do. That is a nice compliment, but I am just going to stay focused and continue to play football.

Q: Do you ever think about being the best corner in the league?

A: I mean, I don’t talk about it. I let people like you all do the ratings and say what you all have to say. I just play football.

Q: Did you think that you were going to end up back with the Rams before free agency started?

A: I had no idea. I was up in the air and I was just waiting and now I am here.

Q: How would you evaluate how you have played this year?

A: I think I have played good. I can play better. Nothing major, but just keep improving every week.

Q: When a defensive back knows the receivers and the quarterback, who has the advantage and why?

A: It can go both ways. Either I have the advantage or they have the advantage. I have the advantage about knowing what is coming and they have the advantage of thinking I know what is coming, but double moving, so I have to stay on my heels and on my toes.

Q: You got to see Case Keenum last year in person as a teammate and this year on tape. What is the biggest difference you have seen?

A: Just controlling the game, no turnovers and keeping the ball and getting positive yards. He is a great quarterback, he has a feel for the offense and he just keeps it rolling over there.

Q: Is Kenny Britt just a big receiver?

A: Kenny, he is physical, he is big, he is going to give you a lot of pushing and shoving, but we just have to go out there and play football.

Q: Most times when new players get to New York, there is a transition period. Why do you think you haven’t had that?

A: Because I never give in to the hype or the ‘he says, she says’. Wherever I go, I just look forward to playing football and that will be my main focus.

Q: Do you feel like there is more pressure in New York?

A: There is no pressure. There are just more lights. That is it.

Q: Last time when the Giants and Rams played, there was a little scuffle on the sidelines. Was there any carryover from that?

A: As far as the New York Giants, I don’t think so. I can’t speak on what the Rams have got going on, but we are going to come out and play football and play between the whistles.

Q: You guys kind of hit Beckham in that game. Was that a game plan?

A: Man, it was just playing football and just playing defense. That is just part of football.

Q: Did you and Odell ever discuss that game?

A: Oh, no, we didn’t really discuss it, but he brought it up a few times. When I first got here, he would walk past my locker and go, ‘Y’all just tried to fight me last year.’ But it was all jokes. We have moved forward, we are teammates now and we are just ready to come out and get a victory.

Q: When you hear the talk about you being a top 5 corner, what is your reaction?

A: Stay focused.

Q: Did you get involved at all with the sideline situation?

A: No, man. I tried to stay away from that because I know that people like you guys look for things like that to blow up, so me, I stay away.

Q: The Rams have a reputation as a team that plays on the edge and plays a little dirty. Having been there for all those years, what do you think about that?

A: That is how they play Rams defense. You can’t blame anybody, you can’t fault anybody, you just have to come and play football because you know they are going to play all out, 110 percent between the whistles and even after the whistles. You just know that they are going to bring it at all times.

Q: You had to deal with Todd Gurley during practice last year. What is the best piece of advice that you can give to your teammates?

A: Just team tackle, man. Tackle him low. You do not have to hit him high. He is a great running back, we all know that, so just team tackling and swarming to the ball.

Q: Jeff Fisher told us that he thought you wanted to stay there.

A: Yeah, we talked. Before I signed with the Giants, I told them that I wanted to stay, but like I said, it was part of a business plan and it didn’t work out.

Q: Did you like the idea of coming to the bright lights of New York?

A: I was just looking for somewhere to be at the time that I was a free agent. It didn’t really matter.

Q: Did the uncertainty of where the Rams were going to be play into your decision?

A: No, not really. It was a business decision, like I said.

Q: Do you expect there to be any extra motivation in going up against your old teammates?

A: For me? I don’t need any extra motivation, man. I play football every day. Me coming out to play football, that is my motivation.

Q: What about Gregg Williams? What are your feelings about him?

A: Oh man, that is my guy. Cool, outspoken, he is going to always keep it real and he just tries to bring the best out of you. He also fits his schemes around what you can do and what you can’t do, so big shout out to Coach Gregg Williams.

Q: Did he mention anything about Odell before that game in 2014?

A: Man, no. The only thing he said was to come out and play football.

Q: No bounties?

A: No, I haven’t heard anything like that. All he wanted us to do was to go 110 percent.

Q: Jeff Fisher said that word got around that Odell was talking about setting records before that game. Did you remember hearing that?

A: I don’t remember hearing it. Like I said, I just focus on the week and the team that we have and I let people like you guys entertain that because that is not what I am about.

Q: Did Odell have a reputation going into that game that you need to get under his skin?

A: No. All they said was to come out and play football. Finish to the whistle and just compete.

Q: Did you have him at all in that game?

A: I had him a little bit. Not much though.

Q: What is the biggest adjustment as a defense you guys have to make going from New York City over to London?

A: Just sleep, man. Just sleep, rest, being more focused and being more locked in as a team and a defensive unit.
It makes me cringe

when all the beater writers want to do, is try to create controversy and bait Janoris Jenkins, with all those questions regarding OBJ.
Very impressed with this guy.

A solid head on his shoulders..
Jenkins has contributed a lot this season so far.

And bull-shit the Rams didn't go after OBJ that last game...
We all know what was going on that day...

Jackrabbit isn't going to answer those questions though and he handled it the right way. I'm glad he's here now, I'm sure he'll have a quick word or two for Odell as far as how to handle it this time around and what Fisher/Williams will have their players doing.
love his answers

whether they are true or not, he diffuses any nuggets of bulletin board material.
Excellent

He has better than expected I can remember people saying
he gambles to much that he will give up scores because
of it . On the contrary he really shows no weaknesses .
He always seems to be in position to make a play .
A few time he looks like he will get beat but closes and
comes up with a PD .
Prince was decent with tackling and covering but not
even close to being the play-maker Janoris is .
Nor does he have the speed or in-stinks . Add in the missed
time due to injuries . Prince looks to be a reach and the
fact that he fell as he did in the draft makes me think
we didn't do enough homework on the guy or was just
bad luck.
Those are the answers
