Knicks up 1 @ 1Q end ...

KP with 10. Baker has a nice touch.
Baker...
TyreeHelmet : 10/19/2016 8:16 pm : link
Baker looks good. Hope he gets a spot.

Jennings is going to drive us crazy.

The D has the potential to be pretty strong with KP and Noah protecting the rim.
Knicks end up crushing.

box score - ( New Window )
I thought that O'Quinn played a nice game, as did Kuz.
yatqb : 10/19/2016 10:37 pm : link
Each could contribute this year. I like that little jump shot OQ has, and Kuz is very active.
Baker looks like a nice role player.

Phil and the scouts have done some damn good work.
4 of 5 Celtics starters
AJ23 : 10/19/2016 10:50 pm : link
IT, Bradley, Crowder, Horford - all DNPs. Fifth-best starter Johnson saw 9 minutes, 6th man Marcus Smart got 16 minutes.

So a solid showing for the New York Knicks vs. the Celtics bench and members of the Maine Red Claws

fair point, but Melo and Rose were also DNPs and the bench Knicks got a lot of burn. Hey - it's preseason, just fun to see some of these guys ...

Anthony Bennett, Hasheem Thabeet...what's next? A Darko reunion? Emeka Okafor?
Kennedy

Three NBA teams – the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Washington Wizards – recently worked out Thabeet because they wanted to see his transformation up close in person. The Knicks (on September 1) and the Wizards (on September 9) sent executives to his training site in San Francisco and worked him out there. The Lakers, meanwhile, brought Thabeet to their facility for a two-day free agent workout on September 19-20.

“When the Knicks came out to see him, they were like, ‘Holy sh**!’” Matrisciano said. “[New York’s Director of Player Personnel] Mark Hughes and others came out, and the first thing they all said was, ‘Holy sh**, look at this guy’s body! He is so muscular.’ They go, ‘Look his legs! Look at his back muscles coming out of his shirt!’ I said, ‘I know!’ Now that’s all well and good, but I knew that would happen; it wasn’t a surprise to me. I said, ‘Now, watch how it translates to the court.’ And when they saw the stuff he did on the court, they were like, ‘Holy sh**.’ He’s moving well, he’s fluid, he’s jumping, he’s showing the athleticism, he’s knocking down shots. I had him at 84 percent shooting, I believe, from the free throw line. It was all documented. It was incredible, and again, that’s why they want to see it. It’s not just about looking great. You may be in the best physical shape of your life, but if you can’t translate it to the court, what good is it? It has translated for Hasheem.

Well, I'd rather have Thabeet than Amundson or Plumlee...
Coming back to the KOQ discussion from the other day
Aspano! : 10/20/2016 10:05 am : link
He actually looked pretty good last night. The thing I noticed was that he was finally decisive with the ball instead of holding onto it for inordinate amount of time. If he continues to do that, I think he's a pretty good rotation piece.
so basically it looks like
djm : 10/20/2016 10:44 am : link
Thabeet is going to play like 2004 Ben Wallace but better FT shooting. Fair expectations or too much?
So, this Thabeet chatter
Beezer : 10/20/2016 10:57 am : link
is intriguing, but September 1? September 9? If there was something there, why hasn't he signed somewhere?

DMM, how does this sort of thing work? Is there a restriction, as far as NBA dates or whatever, on signing a guy like that?

They can sign him any time they want. The only "restriction" is 10 day contracts can't be given out until January. Thabeet has been a TOTAL bust but I'd still take a shot on him over an Amundsen. Can't teach tall. It is sort of scary how quickly so many teams have given up on him but no character concerns I know of... why not?
Thabeet
DanMetroMan : 10/20/2016 11:25 am : link
averaged 9 and 7 with 2.5 blocks in the dleague, before Greg comes to tell me Thabeet sucks and is a stiff, I agree. I just don't see any downside.
Everyone and their mother knew Thabeet would bust
Anakim : 10/20/2016 1:17 pm : link
All he was was tall and was a decent shot blocker. He had no other facet to his game.

Wouldn't be a bad #3 PG for us, but his price is probably somewhat steep...or steeper than we're willing to pay.
