| Giants kicker Josh Brown admitted to physical abuse toward his wife on multiple occasions in emailed letters, personal journal entries and counseling exercises, according to police documents obtained by NJ Advance Media. The written admissions were evidence in an investigation file by a King County (Wash.) Sheriff Department detective that concluded with two charges of fourth-degree domestic violence against Brown being recommended to the King County Prosecuting Attorney on Sept. 14, 2016. According to police documents, Det. Robin L. Ostrum found there was probable cause for charges after investigating allegations of repeated domestic abuse made by Brown's then-wife after Brown was arrested on May 22, 2015 on a charge of domestic violence. It is not clear the status of the recommended charges. A message left with the prosecuting attorney's office has not yet been returned. Brown was suspended one game by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy. That punishment received significant national backlash, as did the Giants' decision to retain Brown. But Giants president and CEO John Mara expressed full confidence in Brown and the decision to keep the kicker, saying the Giants had investigated the situation. The latest release of documents, and Brown's written admissions, could be cause for the NFL to re-open its case and hand down further punishment to Brown. In the police documents is a photocopy of a "contract" through a Seattle-area counselor dated March 28, 2013 and signed by Brown in which he admits one of his "offenses" is that "I have physically, verbally and emotionally abused my wife." In a letter to friends from Brown in March of 2014, also included in the police documents, Brown writes that "... I become an abuser and hurt [his wife] physically, emotionally and verbally." In a personal journal entry attributed to Brown that appears to be from 2013 and is also included in the police documents, he writes: "I have physically, mentally, emotionally and verbally been a repulsive man. ... I have abused my wife." Brown also writes in the journal that, "I may need an anger counselor."... |

NJ.com reports that Molly Brown informed Det. Robin L. Ostrum of the King County (Wash.) Sheriff Department that NFL security had to move her and her children to an undisclosed location at the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl after Brown showed up at her hotel room drunk.
Brown’s wife also told Ostrum she took her three children to Hawaii in January of 2016 when Brown was playing in the Pro Bowl. But Brown and his wife did not get along, and she alleged to Ostrum that Brown showed up at her hotel room drunk and began pounding the door, demanding to be let in. Brown’s wife told Ostrum she called the league and hotel security, and that the NFL moved her and the children to a new hotel where their location was unknown to Brown.
As it had been previously reported, Molly has apparently feared backlash from both the Giants and NFL, telling Ostrum that the team and league would pressure her into making the accusations vanish.
Brown’s wife told Ostrum she feared the NFL and the Giants would pressure her “into making this all go away” after Brown’s arrest, and the league will “look to cover things up.” Brown’s wife also expressed fear media backlash could impact Brown’s career, and that his arrest and actions could lead to his release.
When the league contacted Brown’s wife, she told Ostrum “that the NFL would only be looking to bury this whole incident and protect Josh,” according to the documents.
Earlier this year, Giants co-owner John Mara said the team was aware of all the reported incidents involving Brown and felt comfortable re-signing him based on what they knew....

As for the Kaepernick example, its not offensive, its a social issue that has 2 wildly different POV's that just so happens to be going on a couple months before our nations biggest election.
I don't think the two situations are at all comparable and there's no need to curse at strangers on the internet, no one will take you seriously, nor should they.
There is no excusing his actions, his abuse. None.
But what this latest bit of information tells us is he's owning this. He not only apologized to her, but he wrote a letter to his friends and family. He's not hiding/denying it. It seems he's admitting his mistakes and seeking help for controlling his anger issues.
We all know the Giants organization at this point, and I have absolutely no doubt they told him either get help or get a new team. Even if you look at it simply from a business perspective, it makes no sense for the Giants to hold onto a kicker they can (relatively) easily replace and absorb unnecessary blowback from the public.
They clearly see someone trying to better himself. Giving him a chance to be better is not mutually exclusive with excusing his actions.
He said in the documents "I have been a repulsive man." This doesn't like someone trying to get any with anything. I trust the Giants to do right here, both by him, his family, and the organization.
I'm inclined to agree. Although not a professional counsellor in these matters, my work locates me in the middle of abusive relationships like this on a somewhat regular basis. A few observations based on that experience:
Apologies, explanations, defenses, declarations of love, and "never again" resolutions offered by the abuser can be extremely convincing, especially when it seems like the victim is inclined to accept them. These are meaningless unless they are accompanied by:
1) A complete and uncensored admission by the abuser of what they've done.
2) An agreement to end the relationship.
3) Acknowledgement of guilt.
4) Proactive efforts to seek professional help.
Bottom line: We are on the outside looking in, so we know neither if Brown has done all of these things completely, nor the level of sincerity with which he's approached doing them. What we do know from the public record is that he's not denying the accusations, he's not describing them (publicly, at least) as isolated incidents that will never happen again, he has ended the relationship, and he's acknowledged he has a problem and needs help.
As for the Giants organization, we simply don't know what level of due diligence they've applied to this situation. We can only speculate about whether they were simply taking advantage of an opportunity to sign an excellent kicker on the cheap, or they completely investigated the situation and decided on a course of action they felt was just and appropriate, or they've pursued some perceived gray area or "middle way".
At this point I'm not terribly interested in how much of a PR hit the organization takes from this shitshow, and frankly, if the heat gets to the point where they decide to cut Brown, so be it, he has nothing to complain about. The most important thing is that Brown's ex-wife gets as much healing as possible, and that Brown himself gets the help he needs before he victimizes anyone else.

I've admitted that I had a knee jerk reaction to Kaepernick that I changed my mind on, but I think I was consistent that he always had a right to protest in the manner he chose, but I simply preferred he find a different way to demonstrate that was unifying vs divisive like many teams who following Kaepernick's lead have actually managed to do.
Josh Brown beating his wife is entirely different IMO. There is no other side of it at this point.
And from day 1 the national voices I listen to found the Brown punishment by the NFL and the Giants handling of it questionable at best. Now it's growing to more than questionable as it should.

I have two daughters approaching teenage years and I'm not far from the day where I have to worry about murdering some josh brown character that comes into their lives. I don't want this piece of shit anywhere near my team, I'm sick looking at him
