These last two games, but he's actually making confident decisions with the ball in his hands. Makes a huge difference. Now if only he could avoid dumb mistakes...

Yup, and in so much better shape too...clearly worked hard this offseason.
With a new team give the vet the nod over the green player. These young players hit a wall in the NBA so let KOQ lose the job. Hernangomez will get his shot. It just doesn't need to be right now. Let this team start to gel because that will take time and hopefully Hernangomez can be a spark when needed.
On another note, a nice thing for me is how the Knicks are moving the ball so willingly. Triangle-like spacing and ball movement.
I didn't get to watch many preseason games but I think, and I am totally guessing here, that when players trust one another that the ball moves more. We've seen this numerous times with Melo. Melo has a label as a ball hog but for those that watch him every game there have been countless times where he has passed a lot to get his teammates in the game and the results were not great so he will revert back to what he knows and that is to shoot. That isn't a negative. He gets paid a shitload of money to shoot. Now, with a better supporting cast the mentality might be to get that ball moving all over the place because you know your teammates are not only going to be able to score but also they will be smart with it. This team should have a high basketball IQ. Noah is one of the better passing bigs. Porzingis is unselfish. We have our best PG ... excuse me, best 2 PGs in a long ass time. Courtney Lee is a great glue guy that doesn't need the ball to be productive but is no slouch with the ball either.
Plumlee and Tokoto are the obvious cuts, imo. If one more, Vujacic, although he's playing better this preseason than he did until the latter stages last year.
in part because they can send N'Dour and Plumlee to Westchester on guaranteed contracts. Still doesn't make any sensed to me, with Baker and Randle seemingly fighting for the 15th slot. Both have showed value. Randle looks like a player. Baker surprised me TBH. He actually has some skills and instincts.
actually mentioned KP seeing some time at the 5 so on that issue Isola isn't being "nuts"
i think what hornacek meant was when the knicks start the 2nd quarter with kp and oquinn, kp would technically be the 5...
Hornacek will stagger rose, melo and kp so at least 1 is on the court at all times...
i actually think jennings holiday thomas oquinn kp will be a good lineup starting the 2nd
No after the previous game he was asked about who the backup 5 was and he said they had a few guys who will see time at the 5 and mentioned KP. It wasn't like he said he will be there all the time. It was a throwaway line but it did sound like on occasion that could be the lineup for minutes at a time.
C'mon. KP's a 4 right now who can play the 5, and Noah is a good defensive and rebounding C who is also a great passer. How can he not be in our best starting lineup...unless Isola has an agenda, which we know he does.
"We still haven't seen what the Knicks will be this season. Opening night will be the first time the starting five is whole. But the two concerns both myself and Phil Jackson had were health and depth. The first will always remain an issue. The second, however, is very intriguing with some young guys like Hernangomez and Kuzminskas and even Ron Baker. O'Quinn is a vet you can trust so I see him getting the early nod at backup center and Jennings looked like he found his swagger and maybe the perfect role for him as first guard off the bench. But Hornacek really liked the chemistry and pace the second unit guys played with in the preseason. That can be a difference maker on most nights, especially in back to backs.
Underrated stat from the preseason: Melo was 53% from 3PT range in five games. So many catch-and-shoot opportunities for him now with ball-dominant guards getting dribble penetration.
The last question to answer is how long will it take Derrick Rose to re-acclimate with the team?
OK I lied. The biggest question that remains is: will this team be able to defend?:

The flip side is that you could argue Melo's best position is PF and playing KP at the 5 would be a massive mismatch since C's won't want to guard him out on the perimeter. If you get a solid 3 and D guy at the 3, you won't lose a ton defensively. Could be the 'best' lineup for certain matchups at least.
2. The Knicks depth will be an advantage for them, as they can run a second unit that can get the job done and keep the one's fresh. Not that the talent is equivalent, but I loved it back in the day when Cazzie, Stallworth, Memminger and Bowman would come in and just expand leads.
I don't think O'Quinn is going to keep that job very long.
yes, fun to watch and effective.

I don't disagree, but who loses time because of that - Lance Thomas probably, right? Looks like Lance is with the 3d string tonight.
Haha, I was just saying to myself, "He would have been a great character in Dazed and Confused."
If Brooklyn wantes to win this game, they would put my man Joe Harris back in.
box score - ( New Window )
Yeah, that makes sense, Greg. Although we don't have great depth at PF unless Billy plays some there (and Melo, of course).
SG - Lee, Holiday, Baker, Vujacic (4)
SF - Melo, Thomas, Kuzminskas (3)
PF - Porzingis, O'Quinn (2)
C - Noah, Hernangomez (2)
SG - Lee, Holiday, Baker, Vujacic (4)
SF - Melo, Thomas, Kuzminskas (3)
PF - Porzingis, O'Quinn (2)
C - Noah, Hernangomez (2)
I count 14 there. If you are going for the 15-man roster, there's room for one more. 12 active on game day.
Quote:
PG - Rose, Jennings, Randle (3)

C - Noah, Hernangomez (2)

Yeah, sorry, my bad. I meant my 14 man roster because didn't Phil/Steve Mills say mention the last roster spot may be omitted for salary cap reasons?
Or am I thinking of the Rangers? Haha
If he can't see that the Knicks are moving around freely and passing to the open man more than in the last 5 years he's blind.
And the best unit would have KP at C and Melo at PF? WTF?

A lot of Knicks fans live in Brooklyn.
