Halak in net, Pulock in for Leddy who's day to day. Strome moves to center line w/ Beauvillier & Quine.
Capuano says Leddy is out, day-to-day with upper-body injury. Pulock makes his season debut. Same forwards (Barzal out). Halak in

Grabbed a couple of tweets above. Yes some info doubled but lets discuss.

Halak in net - In a must win game tonight otherwise shit starts hitting the fan, this dude needs to be lights out. No easy goals against tonight.
Leddy is out, has been a stalwart on defense since his arrival. Interesting piece out of the lineup tonight.
Enter Pulock, due to injury you didn't think Pulock would be replacing Leddy. Maybe Seidenberg, de Haan or even Boychuk since he looks hurt of old. Hope the kid brings it tonight.

I was talking to a friend of mine, not BBI Islanders guy. We both agree Beau should be on L1 with JT and Ladd and leave him there to grow with JT. But not the case. We have these kids looking over their shoulder, are they playing tonight, is this a 9 game tryout etc.
Capuano probably hurt the growth of Strome, Bailey and Nelson with these antics. Does he not learn? Will he ruin Barzal and Beau?

My lines would be this:

Ladd,JT, Beau
Brock, Strome, Ders
Bailey, Barzal, Chimera
Cal, Zeeker, Kule (who needs to be cut)

I would let the kids know you are here to stay and have an awesome career here. Simply not the case however.

If a loss tonight the fans will blow up and the chants of Capuana gone will grow louder.
A win and keeps things quiet...... for now.

No reason to lose tonight.

Lets get 2.

Nice game thread post

You're right. They need to win tonight. Lose tonight to a bad team and it's 1-4 and panic city.

It looks like Barzal is sitting again and Cap wants to talk to Snow about him. Has Quine really played that good that we can't get Barzal in there?

I hope Leddy's injury isn't serious because we already have enough trouble transitioning from D to O and Leddy is probably our best guy at that. Hopefully Pulock can spark the power play.
I totally agree with your friend.
Mike in Long Beach : 10/21/2016 11:19 am : link
This staff has never had any grasp on the difference between holding players accountable and having to look over your shoulder after every bad shift. There's a balance there that Capuano has just butchered. Strome being sent down last year was a joke.

And now, pinning these two kids against each other for playing time doesn't "push them" to be better. It's not simply "healthy competition." It could even turn them into selfish players looking to either A) Rake up points or B) Not make mistakes. Which ever extreme they choose, it's only the Islanders that lose.

Make some God Damn decisions and stick with them. Let them make mistakes, and let them make up for those mistakes. The team in both the long and short term will be better off for it.

I like your lines. Nice mix of vets/youth on most of them and reuniting the "kid line" on the other one.
Leddy and Hamonic

Have been awful so far. Maybe this injury has been bothering Leddy. Im sure they'll turn it around but its scary to think De Haan-Seidenberg has been the best D pair so far

Agreed, and it's not just corsi. They're both failing the ole' eye test, too. Anyone watching our team for the first time would assume they're our bottom pair.

Yep. Let Strome know he is the second line center on this team. Let him know he is not gonna be sent down or playing Wing anymore.

Great questions.

The issue, according to Fred, is that Barzal is a center. Fred believes center is strong enough from 1-4. He won't play Barzal at wing, which is why Quine is playing. But, you can't have this kid not playing, whether here or juniors. They have to figure it out before another young player is bungled.

Good coaches fit their lineup and strategy to their players strengths and get their best players on the ice. It's frustrating that they can't find a way to figure this out.
Also...
Metnut : 10/21/2016 1:42 pm : link
the last two games, wasn't Quine playing at center, not Strome? Capuano says "the centers are playing well" and then puts Strome back at center. How does that make sense?

(I think that Strome should be at center but Cap's logic for sitting Barzal doesn't really make sense)

Everything is always a shuffle that does not make sense. I used to have patience for it but now that you see kids aren't developing as you would hope then maybe make sense for once? The other way to look at it is, we won a playoff series so things are coming along just fine.

He was on the first PP. On the last one he wasn't on the ice or the bench so speculation was injury or equipment issue

Channeling his inner Grabner. Is it too late to rescind his FA signing?

The hard part about tonight is that there's a clear talent difference, but the Isles are content to play slow and muddle. It would suit them to attack each shift, because when they play with that attacking posture, they're dominating possession and shot chances. Need to be sharper, more urgent. If so, this game is 6 or 7-2 right now.

Lower body injury. I know a lot of folks want to blame the ice conditions based on Clutter and Boychuk's postgame comments, but it's being reported the injury had nothing to do with the surface.

Plus side, Leddy was back skating at practice today.

Thoughts on Ho-Sang and Dal Colle?

Ho Sang was best player on ice. Granted, AHL leaves him more room to do his thing. He is definitely a pass first player. He set up Dal Colle beautifully for his goal.

Dal Colle is more active than I expected. He doesn't float at all. Nice hands. he has a great shot!

Leduc is massive. Reminds me of Chara when he was coming up. Looks awkward skating. When he figured that out he will be an NHLer.

Gibson looked solid.

Horrible PP. Weight must be giving commands haha.
