Say it ain't so...

Carson53 : 10/21/2016 12:32 pm
I read this on Pro Football Talk. All I could do was shake
my damn head. How the hell can Mara say it like that!

Owner John Mara didn’t make things better yesterday, when he said that Brown: “admitted to us he’d abused his wife in the past. What’s a little unclear is the extent of that.”

If Brown is not gone next week, this organization is going
to look much worse than it already does!
I hate to have another Brown thread, but...

Wait, Mara said something about Brown that one could

While I agree 100% that the should and must get rid of Brown,

keep in mind there are legalities involved, so the actual cutting may not happen as fast as we all would like. Remember Brown has already been disciplined by the league for his domestic abuse. I suspect they have to make sure all the legal t's are crossed and i's are dotted before they take additional disciplinary action.
and besides, it's not like he was probably, maybe involved

second hand in telling some that he thought he could kick the ball better it it was over inflated. He would get at least 4 games for that. ;-)

What extent he tolerates? It's obviously not zero tolerance. Maybe you can just smack her around every now and then and you're good in his book, as long as you give her a breather every blue moon

It's a disgusting quote, I mentioned it on another thread, and I will forever associate it with him, permanently superimposed on his forehead every time I see him. At best he's an idiot, at worst he is just straight up condoning some degree of domestic violence.

I hope you are talking about the owner when you say 'sick'.
On my end, nothing sick about it.
Now we know why he wasnt immediately cut

it would make the suits look bad if Brown were to come out and say the NFL and the Giants knew from a longtime ago, wow. wtf?!

Zero leagalties for the Giants to cut a player, he is one
of 53+ players, do a little homework.

Originally I took Josh Brown's side in this. He grabbed the wrist of his wife who appeared at the time to be bat shit crazy. While his ex wife may indeed be bat shit crazy , we now know there is more to Brown's behavior and the Giants were aware of at least some of it.

The original incident for which he was suspended for and which the Giants and NFL knew about occurred in 2015. If this was an isolated incident I can understand the Giants coming to his defense. But at the Pro Bowl in 2016 there was another incident of violent behavior which the Giants clearly knew about and chose to ignore. At that point Josh Brown should have been cut. IMHO this is another black mark against Resse. Between the Pro Bowl and the start of this season was plenty of time to find another competent place kicker. Instead the Giants waited until a league suspension is inevitable and are now scrambling to sign some scrub to do the kicking. I can't even blame Mara. His attempts at damage control are lame, but its not clear that he knew of the Pro Bowl incident or to what extent he knew of Brown's previous behavior. These are the decisions you pay a GM to make.

Give Ravens an exemption on RR?
And I think Mara, league, NFLPA, Brown/lawyer, are working on structuring a way out to put this away asap, and saving face for B,L,and,M.

The exempt list wasn't really relevant - he was suspended before the season had even begun.

Well, people are saying that he was "verbally abusing" her. That's a lot different than physical abuse. Because anything could be verbal abuse. You get in an argument and you say mean things that can be considered verbal abuse. If we're talking about physical abuse that's different. But nowadays everything is called abuse against women. Not necessarily hitting them. Saying mean things is also abuse.
