NGT: CFB. Brian Kelly to be head coach for 2017 season.

That is from the Notre Dame AD Jack Swarback. I have been a Kelly supporter since he was hired but after last weeks loss I would not have minded if he went. Now that it's confirmed he will stay he needs to find one hell of a defensive coordinator and really ramp up his recruiting. One 2017 commit DT/DE Donovan Jeter has already decomitted. He was a 4 star recruit. We can't lose anymore. Promise the damn farm to these kids if u have to. Bring in some stupid ones and let them take basket weaving and intro to the Simpsons.

but it would make no sense to fire him unless there was a 100% no doubt knockout candidate. I can't imagine that person exists.

Even going back to Davies they've had decent recruiting classes. Better than the results they end up with on the field. Kelly's classes have ranked around #10 each year. They always seem to have guys in the NFL. I'm not a Kelly fan or hater but if he doesn't get a quality D.C. he's toast

and this is his first year stubbing his toe. Besides having great depth at the QB position, they lost a lot of good players last year, and they are playing an extremely young team.

I think most college teams(or at least their fan bases) are way to quick to fire their head coaches.

7 years. No major bowl wins. Humiliated the university on the biggest stage after interviewing for the Eagles job a few nights before the national title game.

He's 2-5 in 2016. Unnacceptable. This wasn't supposed to be a rebuilding year. He's basically the 4th best coach the area nearby ND (Meyer, Harbaugh, D'Antonio all better). If ND keeps Kelly they are content with being mediocre. I'll still love the university but they can forget about my annual donation and attendance at games until this coach is gone.
