AT& T has agreed to buy Time Warner for more than $80 billion, a person briefed on the matter said on Saturday, a move that would create a new colossus in the worlds of media and telecommunications. The proposed transaction could be announced as soon as Saturday evening, this person added. The potential union would probably face heavy scrutiny from government regulators, who have shown increasing skepticism about such mega-mergers. |
We can only hope.
You're thinking of Time Warner Cable - that deal fell apart. TWC merged with Charter.
AT&T is buying Time Warner - which owns HBO, Turner, CNN, etc.
I know a Steve that can make a Case against that
They have that kind of cash, why are they not beefing up the cell phone infrastructure?
Deej, my understanding is the NBC/Comcast deal had conditions too hard to properly monitor. I think the FCC putting pressure on TWC/Comcast was the right move. I suspect the next administration (regardless of who wins) will be tougher than the current one. I think this deal is a bit more up in the air of going through than consensus seems to think.
