If not for some other worldly goaltending at times, a mind numbing number of untimely post clangers, and ridiculously wide open nets that somehow the puck did not find the back of, this Ranger team would be could be and should be undefeated.

And you know what? That's why I think the Rangers stand a pretty good chance of having a very good season. Pucks will eventually bounce their way and they are going to take off. They are playing very well, things will turn around if they keep it up. I'm not discouraged at all. Yet. Ha.
at getting empty netters and this year they already have four
When we were so fast the SCF year the forwards were skating to where the pass should go. Then the Ds started having trouble moving the puck and forwards were hanging back to accept passes. This year they've reverted to going to the open spot down the ice. It's leading to more breakouts and more ENGs.
By how willing vesey was to go to the dirty areas. I thought we were getting Hayes 2.0 (which would still be a win) but he looks willing to use his size

Rick Nash played his best game as well. Its really clear to see....if Nash would just go hard to pucks, go hard to the net, then it changes his game. If Vesey being a rookie willing to get dirty is what gets Nash going, so be it. But Nash has improved so much of his defensive game, he just needs to play with that same "jam" and it always helps the team win because of the impact he makes. I mean Nash at the net on the PP and we score....shocker..

This is the frustration of Nash. If he played with more jam on offense, which he has done in the past, he'd be a top 20 player.
I think he's been their second best dman so far (didn't watch last night's game, though).
AV sucks sometimes.
Ex-ham and egg Dman AV has a type of D he likes. He'd trade a Yandle for a steady #4 type any day. He'll trade 5 good plays to eliminate 1 bad play. The Girardi blindness is a separate issue.
You take the good and the bad with coaches. Still think we're lucky to have him.
I think the NHL struggles with evaluating defenseman, especially as the game has changed - the decision makers today are guys who were moving through the ranks/playing when you could get away with being a mediocre skater/passer back on D.
I also abhor the risk aversion most professional coaches show. I don't think AV is unique in his faults, and I agree, he does a lot well.
Because given the way AV likes the team to play, I would think he'd prefer a puck mover to a more stay at home type. I don't agree with the loyalty to Girardi but I semi understand it.. but playing him in Clendennings place instead of Holden's makes no sense to me.
And BTW, the attendance is embarrassing. Look how many empty seats there are.

It's a sellout and there are a ton of Ranger fans there...the DC Ranger fan club on Facebook can clearly be heard.
Save us Henrik!

Seems like its mostly Rangers fans there, Hudson but there are a TON of empty seats. Look around.

Does he remind anybody of a young Chris Drury?

Hell yeah! PP Goal

Tough to see the comp when Vesey has 5 inches on Drury, and uses his full frame to his advantage.
Props if you made that up

How about scoring when you need it? Grinding when you need it. His game is very similar. Gosh, anal or hangover Sunday morning around here.

is far more power type of player with far more natural god given talent. Drury was Girardi at forward.
