also vouch for that, but he and I might have a dead heat in the 40, assuming either of us can make it that far before sundown.

I'm not attesting to anything about the smell of your nutsack or any painful friction in your nads.

I will vouch for the fact that we are both slower than Jason Taylor trying to close on Eli running to the corner of the end zone.
the wife has been talking it up
Greg from LI : 10/24/2016 10:37 am : link
We wanted three kids originally, but both of her pregnancies were difficult and both kids were premature - my son by just a little bit, and then my daughter was several weeks earlier than him. Plus I'm almost 40 now and she's 38, so yeah, we won't be having another kid.

But it's so final, and such a marker of middle age, that I can't bring myself to consider it yet. I'm sure I'll get there eventually, probably when I get tired of the "So who are you planning on impregnating in the future, because it's not going to be me? Must be saving yourself for your second wife" comments....haha

Heisenberg : 10/24/2016 10:41 am : link
This is good advice. I didn't listen to that. Picked up my toddler son and then had some, um, swelling that led to needing to surreptitiously icing my nuts at work.
...had it done years ago - no issues

other than slight, and I mean slight discomfort. But I do recall the smell (from the good ol' 'branding iron'). Ugh.
Yeah

I had to have it done twice. First time failed and that first time was a shitty experience. The second time I was put under and it went pretty smoothly.

When did you find out it failed?
had one after my 2nd
Gordo : 10/24/2016 11:22 am : link
would do it again in a heart beat.
the doctor that performed the surgery was called Dr. Stopp...no joke...he did my dad's too.. died a few years after i got mine done. No problem just take it easy...the worst part was the medical tape around the neck...

seems so final even though they're reversible.

Plus, I still have some sporadic delusions about slipping another one past the goalie.

Holy crap. Post of the year.
the procedure is not final, can be reversed if wanted

I recommend that
PaulBlakeTSU : 10/24/2016 11:58 am : link
you reschedule for March 15, 2017 which is the day before March Madness starts.

This way you're home recovering for that Thursday and Friday with all of the games going on.
My wife is pushing me towards it too
MadPlaid : 10/24/2016 12:00 pm : link
I completely understand why logically, but emotionally, I am reluctant to do it. Go figure. I'm almost 50, so I will get it done. I don't want any accidents calling me Daddy.

but the longer you wait between vasectomy and reversal the less successful the reversal process.

but the wife and I got to talking about a possibility of a third kid, so I'm holding off until we make the final decision.

And burned flesh? Sounds tasty.

Jonald : 10/24/2016 12:15 pm : link
I did have one a few years ago after my son was borne. It's really no big deal. I was put under and 20 minutes later it was done. Some bruising for a week but no real pain to speak of.

50 - just wait her out. Couple more years and she'll be done.....
It's a piece of cake. Just do what the doctor tells you do.
Steve L : 10/24/2016 12:30 pm : link
Mine was easy. My now ex (then wife) got me a sheet pizza, two dozen wings, a case of beer, war movies and new video games. Then took the kids away for the weekend. I took pain killers, smoked weed, drank and played video games all weekend.

A friend of mine, on the other hand, did not listen to the doc. He had sex the day he had his procedure and couldn't understand why his testicles swelled up to the size of golf balls. Moron.

The worst part
Steve L : 10/24/2016 12:33 pm : link
was the numbing shot. He told me it would feel like a bee sting. Obviously I had never been stung by a bee on my balls. After that...it was nothing.
i think my anxiety is getting the best of me then

Ask your doctor

for a valium or xanax to calm you down before the procedure.

or RUN, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, GET OUT BEFORE THEY SNIP YOUR NUT SACK OPEN AND STOP YOUR REPRODUCTIVE CAPABILITY.

FUCK.

So much for catching up on BBI while eating lunch in your office.

Motherfucker.
One other thing to add to your list of worry
pjcas18 : 10/24/2016 1:03 pm : link
is they usually send some 22 year old super model nursing student in to shave your nuts and pubic area. You need to be careful not to become aroused during this or it impacts the procedure making it far more painful that it would normally be.
I never really understand the whole angst about these things.
Beezer : 10/24/2016 1:07 pm : link
You do it or you don't.

Seems that if there's any doubt or misinterest in having the procedure, you just wouldn't have the procedure.

No amount of pressure from someone else - including my wife - would ever compel me to have such a thing done.

Thankfully, she's never pressured me, and I have no interest. There are plenty of ways around this stuff if you're not interested.

For you fellas who have had the procedure ... if you're pleased? Perfect.
doubt or disinterest***

afterwards, you only can lay down right?
GMAN4LIFE : 10/24/2016 1:12 pm : link
you cant sit down or anything correct?
First, glad I did it.
Crispino : 10/24/2016 1:27 pm : link
Second, glad they put me under. Both times. Yup. Twice for me too because they couldn't complete it the first time due to scar tissue from a previous hernia operation. So I got one side done, then had to go back for round two.

Third, no one has mentioned the best part. After the procedure, you've got to fire the gun like 10 or 12 times and then submit a sample to make sure there are no remaining swimmers. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do whether the wife lends a hand or not, so to speak.😁

do i have to lay down the entire weekend? as in lay down 24/7 or just as much as you can?
You don't have to lay down at all....
Britt in VA : 10/24/2016 1:38 pm : link
Everything is fine, just a little soreness. Next to nothing. Just put a bag of frozen peas on it and sit around for a couple days.
really? doctor said to lay down so blood doesnt flow
GMAN4LIFE : 10/24/2016 1:41 pm : link
all down there. Could be just doctor being precautious.

Never considered it before, and the thought of "smelling my nutsack being seared by the soldering tool" pretty much closes the book on it for me. Thanks Fats! :-)

just relax. It's an outpatient procedure that takes less than an hour to complete. Hundreds of thousands of men have gotten it. Don't psych yourself out.
They did ask me if I had a living will, though....

Nobody knows what is going to happen in the future.

Even though you might think your marriage will last forever, the reality is you just don't know. Death, infidelity, and the unknown can always happen.

My GF's father got one because he was sure he was done having kids. But then he wound up with a much younger woman and she wanted kids. Long story short, he investigated having it reversed. No luck. They got married but it is an issue and now the clock is ticking on her and I would not be surprised to see her ditch.

I haven't had a vasectomy, I just made this up to try and get GMAN4LIFE worried about something besides the procedure. I figured if he spent his time trying to avoid arousal it would take his mind away from the fact there is going to be a needle/laser in his balls.

just because my wife doesn't want more kids
