"If the Patriots were fined $1 million and stripped of a first- and fourth-round draft pick for potentially deflating footballs, how can the Giants, who explicitly kept an abuser on its roster and withheld information from the league, not receive an at least equally harsh penalty? "

As opposed to implicitly?
Does she mean knowingly?
This is a domestic abuse case. As was Ray Rice. All the other drug issues the league has and other off the field stuff.
The deflating footballs, as minor as many think it is, was something that was used to ALTER THE OUTCOME OF A FOOTBALL GAME!! It was considered cheating within field of play.
As minor an edge as it seems to people, to me included especially considering that game was a blowout, they have been penalized as an organization FOR CHEATING!
One has literally nothing to do with the other.

They were trying to equate the two on Mike and Mike this morning on ESPN radio this morning, and I was screaming the same thing in my car. The distinction between cheating during a game and personnel decisions regarding whom to maintain on a roster should be painfully obvious to anyone.
If the claim is that they withheld evidence of Brown admitting to Mara that he abused Molly, then I'd ask how the NFL concluded its investigation without actually interviewing Brown?
Precisely. The Giants deserve plenty of blame, but they were working hand in hand with the league.
2007 Gainesville bar fight
On April 28, 2007, according to a police report in Gainesville, Florida, 17-year-old Hernandez consumed two alcoholic drinks in a restaurant, refused to pay the bill, and was escorted out by a restaurant employee. As the employee walked away, Hernandez punched him on the side of the head and ruptured his eardrum. Although the police department recommended charging Hernandez with felony battery, the incident was settled out of court with a deferred prosecution agreement.[29][30]
2007 Gainesville double shooting
On September 30, 2007, five shots were fired into a car containing Randall Carson, Justin Glass, and Corey Smith while they were waiting at a Gainesville stoplight after having left a nightclub. Carson, a passenger sitting in the back seat who was uninjured, told police that the shooter was a "Hawaiian" or "Hispanic" male with a large build weighing about 230 pounds with a lot of tattoos. Glass, the driver, was shot in the arm, and Smith was shot in the back of the head and still suffers seizures as a result of the shooting. Hernandez invoked his right to counsel and refused to talk to police, and no charges were filed at the time. However, due to his 2013 arrest and subsequent conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd, Massachusetts authorities have reached out to police in Florida to determine whether Hernandez may have had a role in the 2007 shooting
Number one there is no evidence the Giants withheld anything. The NFL security is the ones who moved Molly Brown and the kids at the Pro-Bowl. Is the author alleging somehow NFL security did something and told the Giants about it, but not the league?
She should lose her job for being so reckless and people wonder why there are so many complaints about journalists.
Second, comparing what the Patriots did to this is beyond ridiculous. Even if the Patriots received ZERO on-field advantage, they cheated. Pure and simple, cheating. The Giants while the moral argument is legitimate, broke zero rules. It's almost as if this was written by some 8 year old with 5th grade logic.
Melissa Jacobs launched The Football Girl in September '09 to provide a source for women and others to get off the sidelines and get engaged in the x's and o's of the greatest game there is. Melissa brings a rich career in the sports industry, starting out as the youngest executive producer ever at KNBR Radio in San Francisco and continuing on to ESPN, where she helped start the Talent Production Department and served as a talent producer for SportsCenter, NFL Lines, Outside the Lines and more. She also helped produce Jim Rome is Burning and served a managerial role at the ESPY Awards. While at ESPN, Melissa won two Sports Emmys for her work.

So she's saying that the team knew about the Pro Bowl incident, and didn't tell the league, so should be punished. Now she includes a link to Mara's disclosure, and that link, which she apparently didn't even bother to read, even though she linked it, states that Mara acknowledged being aware of NFL Security having to intervene between Brown and his wife at the Pro Bowl. So, the information she is suggesting Mara failed to disclose to the league, is information about an NFL Security incident. Mara somehow hid from the league information about it's own security team. I mean, even if she was too lazy to do any research at all about the incident and read for herself that it was NFL security who responded to it, it's in her own link. How frickin' lazy and incompetent do you have to be to write crap like that.
[FTR, I even agree with her that if the Giants knew about a domestic violence incident and kept that from the league, they should face some discipline. But that's a completely different set of facts from what we have here].
The investigation, suspension etc. was by the NFL for the NFL. The Giants aren't getting docked a pick nor should they.
This is troubling poor logic and journalism.
Now, I don't agree with what she's saying one bit...but are you fucking kidding me? Go fall in a well.
Dupes? That moron registered 15 years ago.
Brown told the Giants' about the incident this year, they reported it to the league, he got suspended. What are they supposed to do, have private eyes follow around every player on the squad? Administer sodium pentothal to everybody on the roster regularly and grill 'em?
There's a big difference between deliberately covering up cheating and a requiring every club to be the police for every aspect of every player's personal life. Simply BS!

ESPN had good old Ray Lewis on their payroll. Didn't bother Mike and Mike right. Is he found God after he helped cover up a murder.
She works for Fox. I wonder if anyone at Fox has a records of DV. Josh Brown needs to be punished for Josh Brown. No one else.
You buy in once and everything afterward is all the same thing.
2) The comparison to deflategate is ridiciulous
But 3...
It's mildly amusing seeing the "fuck that scumbag Josh Brown" crowd all of a sudden drawing the line with their precious Giants being called out. Mighty interesting how one's conviction can so easily be abandoned when one's our self-interests are on the table.
People see the disconnect between unrelated things and object. Nothing strange about that.

If you don't see the difference between holding Josh Brown accountable and actually taking draft picks from the Giants, you are even more obtuse than I thought. And that's saying something. By your ridiculous (again) post, everyone that condemns Browns actions should all be standing shoulder to shoulder rooting for draft picks to be taken. It would be comical if it wasn't so damn stupid
I condemn Josh Brown's actions but don't think the Giants should lose draft picks. Soo.. try again? Turns out you are't really understanding my post. Be smarter.
I don't expect what I said to go over well because it calls out BBI, so please (predictably) fire away. You're behaving as someone like you is expected to. But my point was that it's ironic all the outrage here this week and all of the people ready to "leave Brown in England" (when it was thought he was making the trip) are the same people who are gasping at the idea of holding the Giants accountable, too.
I don't hate Josh Brown, but (of course) condemn what he did. I hope he gets the help he needs.

not advocating harassment but she posted her email address on her twitter profile and encourages people to contact her. You guys make a lot of strong points and I'd be curious of her response

Some on here brought up some valid points regarding the timeline and I said I'd be curious her response to said facts. That's really not a fair statement at all sorry. I authentically was curious if she would have a valid response to those suggesting the Giants didn't know etc.

You're really reaching here. Not one person is arguing whether Josh Brown is a scum bag or not or if the Giants look bad.
Not one person that I've read has changed their conviction about anything.
Josh Brown can in fact still be a scum bag and the author can be guilty of shoddy journalism.
At what point does the moral standard = lost picks?
Hey bud. Are you gonna be dragging the eagle in 2 weeks?

I was kidding but come one man. You posted her email on BBI. BBI is where posters go on Linkedin to attack refs... Posting her email
and imploring people to email her even with the 100% disclaimer is bound to give a bunch of trolls and idiots the idea to harass her.
Opinion is valid.
I just noticed she put her email on her twitter profile and suggested people contact her. I was curious about a potential response
To the "concerns" some noted on here. I think Josh Brown is a piece of garbage and while I disagree with the writer I don't think she's off her rocker. I'm not for internet harassment of any kind.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner

And she published her email, she's been around long enough in a male-dominated industry... I'm sure she has her big girl panties on to handle a few emails trolling her for her moronic click-bait article. In other words.... whooooo caaaaaares?!
Some of you need to not take every freaking comment on a message board so damn seriously.

too bad and the Giants and NFL deserve all the crap they are going to take. As employers and the employers trade association they decided to stick their noses into the personal lives of their employees. They are finding out that far from getting credit, they are on a slippery and never-ending slope and no matter what they do, it's not enough. They should have butted out.
What? I don't get it. You think someone who commits any sort of serious criminal behavior or is alleged to have done so isn't putting their professional livelihood at risk? Especially in a very public position?
This isn't just "their personal lives." These are businesses, and the NFL is a business. The players are representatives of those businesses and their conduct is, rightfully or wrongfully representative of their team. As such, the NFL and its member organizations are duly within their rights and even their responsibility to deliver punishment.
If this were not true, the Eagles would not have suffered the PR uproar they did for signing Mike Vick years ago. People actually boycotted them.
If this were not true, people wouldn't have been upset about the Cowboys signing Greg Hardy when they did.
The NFL and the teams should, in their own interests, be involved in these issues.
The image of the NFL when Tagliabue was commissioner was not good, because of a lack of league accountability for the actions of the players. Goodell came in and took control of the personal conduct problem, and it was a problem, and the league, IMO, is better off for it. He hasn't been perfect (Ray Rice), but at least he did something about it, when Tagliabue would pretty much look the other way and leave discipline (for better or for worse) to the teams.

To be fair, the worst comments were Carl in CT and Blackbeard, who are both bottom of the barrel posters who no one actually pays attention to.
