That's fuck you money. Probably didn't have the performance left in him to be a HOFer after injuries, not likely to win a Super Bowl, what did he have left to play for? Understand the decision, he will have a life after football.

He's an intellectually engaged guy. Lots of diverse cultural interests. I think he'll be plenty fulfilled in his retirement.

The likelihood that he was going to play long enough and well enough for HOF consideration was small, especially with all his injuries.

Agreed. He was always a smart and complex guy. I'm sure he has lots of plans for post-football life...
