Let's Go!!!
+++
I'm battling mixed emotions. Definitely want the road win tonight and to ruin Bron-Bron's party. (Best night for me would be Knicks/Cubs wins.) But also realize it's a long damn haul.
Hoping for 45-plus wins. I'd view that as a very solid season, especially if they went into the playoffs with decent health (and especially that of the main rotation guys).
Can I even dare to wish for a few bench surprises and a better-than-expected contribution there?
There's still time to dream, and that's exactly what I plan to do.
Let's beat the dreaded Cavaliers!!!
He's a superstar
some people just hate melo no matter what

And I'm not one of them. I just get frustrated with the ball hogging sometimes. The Knicks need to spread the ball around more to get open looks.
Really? Think he sounds terrible. He is definitely not a natural at it-sounds stiff.
The guy can definitely shoot

huh? he has 19 points on 50% shooting and 3 assists
there is going to be games you love him and games you hate him, that is why he is 6th man, he is the knicks new jr smith
first game, these guys still have no idea how to play with each other yet

Holliday especially. They need to spread it out, pass, and get better looks.

That's a cop out. They're just missing shots and rushing.

you rush when you are still learning how to play with the guy next to you...
its going to take at minimum 20 games before you really start to see the starting 5 play well with each other...

I agree with that aspect of what you're saying.
1 - Called Hernangomez 'hernandez' at least 5 times in first half.
2 - 'Melo is finally happy to be playing for a former player in horneck.' Do the last three coaches not count?
3 - 'vujacic is back with the knicks after playing last season with LA and nets'. Was on knicks all last season.
Marv had to correct him multiple times. Did he only have two months to prepare for this game? I guess he is so dumb, he count basic numbers like timeouts!
Give Rose some time with the team and they should come together nicely at some point.
Actually, some promising signs this team could be more competitive this season, need time to gel
But it's kind of a bummer that 4 years into the Jax reign and we're really. O closer to competing with the Cavs than we were on day 1
At least we have Zinger to build around once Melo, Rose et al are gone
Well, we have the second quarter to hang our hat on. They played really well the second quarter...
LBJ did not like the O charge call against him and then just said I have had enough of the JV team and proceeded to work on his ESPN highlight reel - throw down, throw down, block, assist, game time.
Seeing Melo barking on the bench after his third quarter, which sucked, annoyed me.

admittedly, I watched about 25% Knicks game, 75% World Series game last night. so didn't see enough of the game to offer an informed review, just being a cranky Knicks fan...and of course we have to give this group time. It's just such a tired routine to see them get run off the court like that
Let's give Melo credit, he did manage to get a steal in garbage time. DPOY?
People act like Phil inherited a franchise that was ready to start over and blow things up. The Knicks were hamstrung when Phil walked in. Only one high draft pick over a 3 year period...
Now is the time to expect significant progress but last night was one game.
If the Knicks finish behind the Nets Hornacek and Phil Jackson should both be fired on the spot...

They really shit on the Knicks. Shaq said he didn't know who any of the five Knicks on the court were at one point and they agreed after one game that they are the second best team in NYC and would miss the playoffs.

Dolan didnt fire Sather, and I think Sather and Phil are pretty similar -- old hand legends with fistfuls of rings and lots of confidence. The presence of Sather drew all the criticism to him rather than Dolan. Similarly, when people want to crap on the Knicks now they go after "the Zen Master" and not Dolan. I think that is pretty important to Dolan. If Phil can avoid criticizing Dolan in the media, he's probably safe. And while Phil has a history of airing his laundry, I think he has less assertive ownership here than he did in LA and CHI. I think Dolan is kind of checked out with the band and being the CEO of like 4-5 companies.

Agree. Still dont understand why he pushed his meager chips to the table this year. If this experiment fails though (and it is way too early to tell), I think they can largely sell off the pieces for a return. Rose will expire, Melo will bring back good assets, Lee will get you something, and you may or may no be stuck with Noah.

what did you expect when Phil got here? The Knicks were three years away from even attempting to field a legit NBA roster unless they got extremely lucky two summers ago with FA. That was always a pipe dream. They hit on KP. That's all one could have realistically hoped for when Phil got here.

Oh I'm with you on this, and have been defending Jax for the most part. Overall just cranky that the best we can accomplish so far is a team that has a realistic chance at the playoffs, best case top 4 team in the East, but is still nowhere near competing with the Cavs
But yes, no point in overreacting after 1 game in Cleveland, when our team hasn't all been playing together long.
The best thing Jax has accomplished so far is not only getting us out of cap hell, but setting us up with future roster flexibility by breaking the cycle of bad long term contracts to over the hill vets.

Yeah the only deal that carries weight is Noah but even he may be movable and you may not even want or need to move him. You still have KP and some younger chips and all the picks. Like Greg said if they shit the bed they can still add another lottery talent to the mix. It's not ideal but it's manageable.
You're fucking with us right? You're not rooting for the Knicks now, are you?
You're fucking with us.

He reminds me of a smaller JR Smith, TBH

They literally had not played together AT ALL (regular season or preseason) prior to last night. I just wish the media idiots, who should know better, would recognize that. Instead, it was 99% Phil sucks, they suck, and that's the end of that.

You are confusing an objective assessment of Phil's time (a disaster if NYK<BK) with my prediction of what Dolan would do. The two have nothing to do with eachother. Dolan does not run this team like a normal human being.
