What a roller coaster of emotions, from "Congratulations Boston Red Sox, 1986 World Champions" on the scoreboard at Shea to this. Not going to lie, this game was the last time I cried (when I thought the Mets lost, what a loser).

What a great sports year for me Canadiens, then Celtics, then Mets then Giants - a rare grand slam (weird combination but that's how I grew up).

It's been too long, 2017 seems like a good time to end the drought, after this year with one of the Indians or Cubs winning Mets have to have one of the longer championship droughts.

Wow, 30 years

and being a Mets fan growing up it was fun moving to Boston in the summer of 86. Won a bet with a girl I was dating, she had to wear a Mets t-shirt for a week after they won. I didnt make her go thru with it. Giants winning the SB was the topper in 86.

Love that look of elation on Gary Carter's face. Gone too soon. I actually got emotional when Carter died. Strange, but as a kid I just loved those Mets. Remember hitting balls in the backyard just imagining I was Gary Carter or Keith Hernandez. What an amazing team. I hope next year there will be a return to health and they can re-capture some magic.
What a special season that was

A crying, blubbering 16 year old mess with 2 outs, wondering how the best team in baseball blew the WC they should have waltzed to. With 2 outs, I stood in the darkened downstairs of my father's house with my finger on the TV on/off button, not wanting to see the Sox celebration after the 3rd out.

And I stood in that same position, not moving as the rally unfolded. I yelled loud enough that I woke everyone when the ball eluded Buckner and went from tears of sadness to tears of joy. Truly an amazing spectacle at Shea that evening.
I miss those Mets
