Dallas/Eagles.....

Doomster : 10/25/2016 2:41 pm
Ah the old double edged sword......a Dallas win, and it gives the Giants a blueprint for beating the Eagles(unless of course, that means running the ball and hitting TE's), and gives the Giants a shot at 2nd place in the division, the following week......but it also gives Dallas a 2 game cushion in the Division....

An Eagle win, brings Dallas back to the pack, but also gives them a boost of confidence coming to play the Giants, the following week......

I'm sure Mac, and probably the coaches and players will all be watching that game, to look for some edge the following week.....

One thing is for sure, the Giants can't play, the way they have in the last two wins, if they hope to beat the Eagles....

Philly. The more losses Dallas has the better.

but I always, ALWAYS, root for the Eagles to lose. We've beat the Cowboys already, so we have that in our back pocket. It would be such a psychological lift to this team to beat the fricking Eagles convincingly.
an Eagles win gives the Giants a shot at 2nd place too
giants#1 : 10/25/2016 2:44 pm : link
Technically, it would give the Giants a shot at 1st place if Dallas followed it up with a loss to CLE (and WAS loses to CIN). That and a Giants win over PHI would make it a 3-way tie for 1st with Giants/Cowboys/Eagles all 5-3, but importantly the Giants would have wins over both the Cowboys and Eagles.
you want the eagles to win
nygiants16 : 10/25/2016 2:45 pm : link
for a couple reasons...

1 it brings dallas back to the pack and you already have a win against them..

2 you have the eagles twice on your schedule still so you can control your own destiny with them

i think giants will give the eagles trouble, giants can spread them out and force jenkins to play over the time rather than his free roaming in the box normal position

but I doubt if any other division is as fluid as the NFL East.
I think it's unlikely that Dallas can finish last. That's the only given after seven games because anyone else could, and anyone of the four could also win the thing.

Tough to wheel them back in. If Eagles win, doesn't matter unless the giants can ever beat them again. Eagles have own the giants unfortunately

What if that really DID happen? And it was likke a Marshall situation. Where the teams just had no players anymore, suddenly.

I'll bet we could win the division then. That is, if they played the rest of the season out.

Of course you root for Philly. Puts the Giants way more in control of their destiny.

If we beat Philly at home after the bye, we'd be at worst a game out with a head-to-head victory against Dal, Phi and the Skins would be idle.

and my Eagles contempt burns as hot as anyone's (no joke, one of my earliest memories as a kid is hating the Eagles during a stretch where they beat the Giants 4 times in a row), but we've all "rooted" for divisional rivals in the past, usually in weeks 16 or 17.

It's less urgent midway through the season, obviously. But right now it's patently more beneficial to keep Dallas within reach so both the crown and WC remain paths to January football.

"Rooted" in quotes of course. I won't watch because can't muster feeling happy for any Eagles success, even if it does benefit NY. Fuck em.

I spite of "Dakmania", Dallas will likely get better once Romo returns (I think Jerruh will force this).

Making the playoffs by winning the division is goal #1. Dallas can't get to 6-1.
i'm not sure Romo

glowrider : 10/25/2016 5:09 pm : link
Our best route to the playoffs, and maybe the only route, is through winning the division.

We've already lost to Minny, Green Bay and Washington, so best hope is to split with the Skins and win out in the division. Detroit is in the mix. Pretty sure both Seattle and Arizona will get slots, leaving 1 WC (probably to the North).

We currently hold the head to head over Dallas and still have two to go with Philly. There are a bunch of teams that have the same record, or can come screaming back - even at 1-5 the Panthers are only 2 back in the loss column, New Orleans just 1, Tampa tied. I think the only teams that are down and out in the NFC are San Fran and Chicago.

Gotta pull for Philly to make the division a mess this week and hopefully we can squeak through.

Nothing is worse than Dallas Cowboys fans in NY with zero connection to the Dallas area. Pure bandwagon fans who jumped on in the mid 90's and all fucking suck. Cowboys' sched the rest of the way:
Sun, Oct 9
Eagles
@Browns
@Steelers
Ravens
Redskins
@Vikings
@Giants
Buccaneers
Lions
@Eagles

Eagles' schedule:
Cowboys
@Giants
Falcons
@Seahawks
Packers
@Bengals
Redskins
@Ravens
Giants
Cowboys

Cowboys clearly have the easier sched. We need to keep within shouting distance of them. Hope for a Cowboys loss.

Since Dallas has 1 loss and that is to the Giants, I want the Eagles to win. It gives Dallas 2 losses overall and 2 in the division. You want the division as bunched up as possible

Fact is, the Giants are going to have to beat Philly to do anything anyway. You need to be 4-2 in the division and split everything else and that gets you to 10 wins.

Like to see the Eagles win but get beat up. Like to see Dallas lose and get beat up

I hate them so much more than the cowboys. I also hate the cowboys more than the redskins. The eagles in my lifetime have ran through so many Giants teams like a buzz saw that I always wish them the worst. The cowboys haven't won jack in a while and the redskins even longer.

But I have a lot more respect for the Philly fan base than Dallas. I know they are sub human mutants but they are above the Dallas fan base in my view and it's not really close for me.

I've warned you all for some time now. God help us if Dallas sustains any kind of winning. Philly did in the mid 2000s and we lived to tell about it. Philly is Philly...they have won nothing.

Dallas can never win anything again. Never. I'd just as soon see Philly win two before Dallas got another one.

I've always hated Dallas more than any other team in the league
Matt M. : 10/26/2016 11:46 am : link
But, that isn't the reason I say we want Philly to win this week. It is because a Philly win knocks Dallas down to the pack. If we can then turn around and beat Philly, we have a legit shot at the division lead and a better shot at a WC.

I disagree strongly here.

The zero next to Philly is of enormous value and importance. Dallas fans can recall former glory. Philly fans can not, and must NEVER be able to. Ever.
