One positive for our O is that Eli has a career-high completion percentage and that you can see our playmakers are accounting for the vast amount of our yardage; Eli is second in YAC after Matt Ryan.
All we need to do is somehow get a little bit going on the ground and our playmakers will get even more YAC in our pass game and maybe our O could actually be up to snuff. We know Eli can do it and he has solid targets so it can happen. I think we will see some changes after this two-week stretch with the self-scout to get it going and hopefully play cleaner football.

I haven't seen that many to rank second in yards after catch.
If you mean YAC for the player catching Eli's passes that's pretty meaningless as someone like Ryan would be racking up yardage from Freeman and Coleman as RBs usually dominate YAC stats.
Eli throws to OBJ, OBJ runs wild, there's your YAC.
If we were running the ball better, Shep and Cruz would have better numbers too. How many slants have you seen Shep absolutely get crushed on by the backside safety?
Bobby Rainey also has really good YAC numbers for the number of targets he's got.
Just cut the turnovers down from 3 to 1 per game and good things should happen. Please no more 3 turnover games can't take it anymore.
Only 9 teams have scored fewer points than the Giants... and 4 of them have played 1 fewer game than the Giants. With 9 teams having had their bye already, that means 5 of them have outscored the Giants despite playing 1 fewer game.
That doesn't even factor in that 14 points were scored by our defense. Half the league doesn't have a defensive TD.
There is no silver lining. The Giants' offense is a complete mess right now... they are pathetic. And you can try to put lipstick on a pig by cherry picking stats, but the fact remains that without OBJ, this team would struggle to score ANY points on offense. They stink out loud.
If you take away all those one yard runs, we'd be in the top 10 in yards per rush! Just sayin'!
If you take away all those one yard runs, we'd be in the top 10 in yards per rush! Just sayin'!
I was thinking the same thing. Too funny. Hand-wringing whiners.
Then again, maybe I'm just watching mediocre offense.
OBJ is a great playmaker
Eli remains less accurate than the best QBs, and that translates into less YAC, all else being the same.
That passes the eyeball test
Giants don't have great td pct or ypa or yac per pass attempt. That tells the real story
I'm guessing it shows pedestrian yac. The point is we have a league leader in yac on the team. He is lifting Eli in this example.
Sure everyone can pick examples of qb helped by a player. I'd suggest the post is misleading for reasons already pointed out.
"meaningless stat" guys.
Uh, meaningless, as in they probably solely account for 2 of our wins?
Right.
Consider when he checks out of the play that was called from behind the Big Sideline Menu.
If we can agree that he's among the league's best in recognizing things at the LOS and changing out of what was initially called, then we also would probably agree that the point if those changes would be to put his WRs and others who'd catch the football in a better position to have favorable matchups that might lead to ... bigger YAC.
I'm not saying it's the way each and every time. But it's probably not a coincidence.
Simple math.
as it is a measure that you are beating other defenses. Another good one is PPC, points per completion or something like that. After all the final score is the ultimate measure of success?
Summary...throw the ball downfield consistently and accurately.
Eli has 2nd place in yac list with 10th most attempts per game. That suggests this offense is still better than average at this. With Odell and Victor on the team it should be the case.
Eli has done great things for this organization, and hopefully there's more in store, but stop pretending he's something he's not. He's a great read and react QB who can use the whole field. He is not a mobile guy who runs an accurate short game ala the original WC offenses. If you ask him do stuff that is outside his comfort zone bad things will happen.
exception of Rodgers Breese and Brady . That he needs
a semblance of a Run Game he is very good with affective
play action pass . He is Very Good with Mid-Deep throws .
He is not mobile but he knows how to work the pocket
and protect himself when there is a said pocket to work
from .. He is not the best short to mid-range passer he
struggles with short passes and screen passes . He is not
the best ball handler he is almost robotic on hand off's
he rarely fools anyone with ball handling skills .
So he must have a run game that at the very least garners
some respect . He needs a safety blanket from a TE or a
bigger bodied WR . He needs to be confident under center
that he can take the snap and make the proper drop
so his mechanics are not rushed and he has the confidence
that his blind side is protected and he trusts that its
protected .
No tight end.
OL is fair at pass protection, but can't trust them to provide the kind of time needed to run an offense based on a vertical passing game.
Am I missing something? What more should we expect Eli to get out the tools provided?
