Defensive strategies of opponents 2015 vs. 2016

Lots of people are saying that because we run the ball poorly and have no NFL tight ends teams are playing cover 2 against us and thus preventing us from getting big plays. But this wasn't the problem last year with similar limitations. Why weren't teams playing the cover 2 last year and if they were why don't we do what we did last year to combat it?

Said the league has had two years to figure out MacAdoo s offense. That he has to start moving people around, use different formations.

But I will make a few points. Last year the Giants were 18th in rushing yards per game and averaged 4 yards a carry. This season they're 32nd and averaging 3.3 yards a carry. But in truth, they did have some of the same struggles last year. The numbers from last year look better than they really were as the rushing production came largely from the last four games and NO game helped boost passing stats, and there were low points outside of that.

Last year the only WRs who had any notable production was Odell and Randle and the rest came from RBs and TEs. This year it is all the three top wide receivers. Tye was a surprise last year but has taken a step back and no Vereen.
Amazingly

You know who the teams top rusher is currently, in terms of yards? It's Vereen despite 20 fewer carries than Jennings. Vereen is averaging 2 yards a carry more than Jennings (4.7 to 2.7)!

Well at least last year we saw OBJ make big plays. This season outside of the Ravens game we haven't seen it. He made some nice plays against Norman, caught one deep ball against the Cowboys, and he dropped one bomb against the Saints. I don't remember any other big plays in 7 games.
We have been using the 3WR set...

almost exclusively this year. Last year we had a lot more 2 TE sets. I'm going off of memory here, but I believe it is the offense that has changed as opposed to new/different defensive looks.

I posed the question several weeks ago if the 3 WR look isn't killing the Giants offense, and I'm still wondering about it.
