are terrible. Marchand, Bergeron, Krejci, and Pastrnak and a bunch of jags, including Backes who was a terrible signing. Ryan Spooner has some skill, but he's on their 3rd line.
Chara looks like he's 100 years old and Krug is as finnesse a player as you can be and play top 4 D. He should be on power play like an extra forward.
Speed gives them major problems.
I think both Rask and Khudobin are injured. Malcolm Subban? LOL what a disaster.
I realize you hate the home town teams, but c'mon, Bergeron and Marchand are more than jag's......
I like the Celtics.
I said Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci and Pastrnak are good the rest of the forwards are jags. other than Spooner, but on the 3rd line, that 3rd line, his talent is wasted.
When you look at all the talent that has left Boston the past 4 years or so it's comical.
about looking for a top-four D-man ... realistically, what's the cost in trade? I wonder if they'd deal a Hayes.
Ideally, I think they would want to deal Nash. Realistically, I think Miller is the one being dangled. Maybe Zuccarello, but in my eyes: Zuccarello > Miller > Hayes. I don't think they'd trade Hayes considering he was a huge part in recruiting Vesey.

Oppps, sorry!!!! I should learn to read lol
Zero goal tending right now isn't helping.......
Shit, I think I'd rather face Rask considering how poorly we've done
I think the thinking behind some fans is that he's almost 30 and he's supposedly unhappy given the fact that we've traded his BFFs. I think it's silly. He's still one of our best players and, IMO, the heart and soul of the team.
or a very cost effective #4 type. What we give up depends on the return. Is the player a #2 or a 2nd pair guy, and what is his contract?
Another option is to recognize that McDonagh and Staal are here to stay, and swap Skjei (who IMO is a #4 already) for a similar RHD. Basically find a team that is overloaded to the right side.
The problem with any of these approaches is that AV sees Girardi as a #2 dman. So if you get a #4, you knock KK to the 3rd line. If you get a #2, you knock KK to the 3rd line. You need to displace 2 RHDs to get DG to the bottom pair.

Basically, Girardi is not only an albatross salary cap wise, but also play-wise and the fact that AV, for God knows what reason, loves the pairing of him and McDonagh.

In my opinion the biggest problem with Girardi is role, not salary. He might be fine as a 3rd pair guy, even a heavy use 3rd paid given that Skjei is good. Although Girardi's possession stats were bad on the 3rd pair last game (the whole team's possession stats were rotten tho).
is 32 years old. Signing a 32 year old to a 5 year 30M deal to me is never good unless your team is a player or two away and you are adding a solid veteran presence to a "championship" core.
The Bruins are not that.
They should have just paid Louie Eriksson the same money and kept him. Eriksson is a LW, Backes as C which makes him a 3rd line center. which IMO is less value that a top 4 winger - and Eriksson is a better offensive player.
Just seemed like signing a player to fill a hole but the player didn't really fill the hole they had.
I keep an eye on the Trouba situation. I'd trade Hayes + for Trouba.
I would too, but I doubt Winnipeg would. They want a LHD of Trouba's caliber.
Still debating in my head whether to do Miller + Skjei for Trouba. IDK
I wouldnt do that. Skjei on cheap contracts for the next 5 years could be nearly as valuable as Trouba if you immediately have to pay him 6.5+ per. It's still not at all clear if Trouba will develop a full two way game or if he's just another Marc Staal (good version). Whereas Skjei will be (IMO) at a minimum a good defensive #3, and Miller is tracking to be a better version of Callahan.
Im not opposed to moving Miller or Hayes, but Im not excited about it. And if I move them, I'd like to get back a proven offensive talent on the blue line.
Hags is having a terrible start. 1-0-1 in 7 games with CF% and FF% below 40. Though brutal 62.7% dzone starts.
Talbot may be 5-1-0, but it's with a 2.75 GAA and okay 91.9% SV. Not sure you can credit him for a bunch of Oilers players improving, McDavid being McJesus, and good offseason upgrades like turning Hall into Larsson + Lucic.

I was referring more to last year regarding Hagelin. This year to Talbot.
Talbot was named first star of the week, I believe

Good because I'll be at the game against the Canes and I want to see the kid play.
RE: Talbot was named first star of the week, I believe
It's worth looking at what we got back. It's hard to follow, but I know we wouldnt have gotten Gropp, who the team loves, thought was a top 10 talent, and who has physical attributes that sound like Kreider. Not clear if we'd have Kovacs, who is a nice wing prospect. And Im pretty sure we wouldnt have Zborovskiy, who is a 6'4 Russian dman who is just killing it in the WHL right now. 1-7-8 +17 in 9 games.

It's still too early to judge, but I think it's right to question whether we got too little for both Talbot and Hagelin.
They DID love him, but now they've sent him back to the WHL as a 20 year old.
Fair. My feeling is that it is difficult for power forwards to develop when they cant physically dominate. So you want the PF to spend an extra year in junior, and extra year in the AHL. This time lets them work on aspects of the game (like being an immovable horse) that you cant develop when you're playing against guys you dont have a physical advantage over.
from around the league that the Rangers sold too low on Hags. I think he was underestimated around the league. How much do you give for a mid-30s point player who you have to pay $4 million/per for? Even if he plays good defense and drives possession numbers?
Also, if we have Hags now, who is the 4th liner? Vesey, Buch, or Hags? Does Vesey sign here if it looks like we have Kreider, Zucc, Nash, Miller, Buch, and Hagelin as wings already?

Alain Vigneault says Pavel Buchnevich is close and could play Friday. Chris Kreider is day to day but unlikely for Friday.

Entirely possible that Buch is good to play but they dont want to make a roster move right now. Maybe there is a big debate about McIlrath going on.

Yes, he's moved on from Hudson and now he's Rover.
Suban last night was horrible. Not sure who will end up being in net for the B's tonight. Serious issues for the B's this season.
The season series between the Bs and NYR has been great over the past few years, not going to be the case this year. The Bruins just aren't very good.
Good luck to the Rangers this year. NHL is off to a fantastic start this year.

I have no problem with what the Rangers got for Talbot on an absolute basis. The goalie market got hot and they seemed to overplay their hand, though.
I don't get how the Rangers couldn't get more for Hagelin given Shaw fetched two seconds this past off-season.
Also, lol at this:

At the time he was traded, Staal and Girardi had more value than they do now. Either could have fetched a mid round pick.
Hagelin didnt have to be a cap casualty - the team simply decided he would never be a big goal scorer and undervalued other aspects to his game.
It wouldnt suck so much if the Ducks hadnt panicked and traded him 3 months later... fuckin' hate the Ducks.
