College Football Prospects (Maybe Sy Can Chime In)

Old Dirty Beckham : 10/27/2016 10:58 am
With the weekend off and a slow week around here I was wondering if anybody has any particular college players they like?

For me there are a few.

Dalvin Cook. The Giants issues along the OL/TE/FB are well noted but I also think the Giants running backs contribute to the problem. Jennings sucks. Perkins has shown potential and has 9 games left to carve out a role for next year but a guy like Cook would really make the OL look better.

Cam Robinson. Alabama is one of the few teams I watch every weekend. Robinson is an absolute freak. He plays sloppy and most of what I read about him seems to indicate his run blocking may never be dominate but he has all the physical tools to be an elite pass protecting LT.

Jake Butt. Michigan TE. He's 6'6. Needs to improve as a blocker but he's a mismatch over the middle and one the Giants sorely lack.

Anybody else?

Derek Barnett. DE from Tennessee. Lightning fast off the edge. A bit undersized at around 265 but he's the type of pure pass rusher the Giants are lacking. With a lot of money tied up on the defense I'm not sure the Giants will be able to retain JPP. Even if they do another pass rusher is needed to get this defense to the next level.

Jarrad Davis. LB from Florida. A sideline to sideline linebacker. Would fit in nicely next to Kennard and cassillas in the middle.
He'd be better in a 4-3

but I really like Watt Jr at Wisconsin ...health will be critical for him though with his injury list.
Sorry

meant to say better in a 3-4.
Have you watched OJ Howard in those 'Bama games?

Might not be quite the pass catcher Butt is but seems like a better blocker. Might be a better fit for the Giants.
Yes

I forgot to add Howard. I like him and Butt. Think both will be good NFL players.
Jarrad Davis is choice 1, 2 and 3

But it'll never happen as long as Reese is drafting.
Cam Robinson

Has not looked good to me this year. Notre Dame has a tackle that looks really good whenever I see him but I forgot his name.

something about howards game appears soft to me. I could be way off but I like Butt a lot more(cue the jokes)
Give me a DE or OT

And I'm happy. Fix the f'ing OL once and for all, even if that means moving Flowers to where he belongs, RT.
Still have to fix

the O-line with a 1st or 2nd round pick TE is also a glaring
weakness as is the RB position hopefully Perkins pans
out . DE is another problem when we have to decide on JPP
I really like Dalvin Cook also Bucky Hodges TE ..
I doubt Howard or Robinson will be on the board when we pick.
Who ever we draft and I wouldn't mind taking two for the
O-line that they are not finesse type players I want big
and Nasty like Flowers . Hopefully the kid gets his head
into the game and improves .
Still would take a flier on a RB to add some youth there
as well .

Mike McGlinchey. He's a really good prospect. Should be top 10-15 if he comes out this year.

Thanks, that's the guy. Think he pulls a Ronnie Stanley stays an extra year and locks up his spot in the top 10 for 2018.
I was interestd to see Butt

when UW played UM, but I wasn't impressed. Only one game and he did play against a great defense ;)
I've been saying

Even after the defensive spending spree this offseason, we are still one Offseason or 3 draft picks and a good FA pick up away from being a championship caliber football team. We need a balanced TE, a speed RB, a 3 down LB and another tough SOB up front on the OL. Re-sign JPP and Hankins and we are in business.

You can also add an outside WR. I think Cruz is A. Toast and B. Not an outside guy.

I also think they let JPP walk, adding DE to the list of needs. Might have to wait until 2018.
My mock is:
Anakim : 10/27/2016 3:08 pm : link
1) WR Courtland Sutton or Mike Williams

2) LT Ryan Ramczyk, Julie'n Davenport or Jamarco Jones

3) LB Akeem Victor
Anyone watch the Pitt/V Tech game last night?

Pittsburgh runs somewhat of a pro offense, and their left side of the line was absolutely dominant. They were opening huge holes for James Connor, and their QB had tons of time to throw the ball.
Tim Williams

Hybrid OLB/DE. Best defensive player in country. I doubt he will be around when Gmen pick but Reese wouldn't pick a LB that high anyway
