They always get a seem to get lot of pressure on Manning and we usually turn the ball over more than they do.
They often make a big special teams play against us in the particularly return game. Although a blocked kick or faked kick would not be a surprise.
We do not usually get a lot of pressure on the Eagle QB (although there are a couple notable exceptions).
We cannot cover there RBs and TEs on pass plays. We have allowed big plays.
They hold us to FGs when we are in the Red Zone. It has thus been named the Green Zone because they rule it.
Giants have tended to have conservative game plans vs Eagles to limit try to limit turnovers and big plays. They have not done that and they have eliminated our big plays.
IMO - We are better. The Giants should attack aggressively and let the chips fall where they may. Exploit their RT, challenge their receivers - who suck. Attack the corners on defense - they suck. Play fast and tire out their defense.
And the Giants have a weak o line. Bad combo?

they have a phenominal D-line.

Not a good combination for the Giants. A good combination for the Eagles.
The DL has enough talent to win their battle. I am not so sure the OL does, which has been the main reason we have lost every game since 2013 to them.
Certainly true of the recent Coughlin-Kelly games. Those Giant teams were pretty bad. But some of the Reid-era night game losses were just as jinxy as Matt Dodge/DJax. Remember Eli fumbling because after six years in the NFL he hadn't learned to slide... twice? Or the jump ball to Ramses Barden that led to an offensive interference penalty, when the Giants were already in position for a game-winning field goal? Fassel lost weird ones to Reid too, in 2001 and 2003.
Tough to overcome that...
The one area that they have consistently taken advantage of us is our O-line...even when we had a good O-line.
Now we have to deal with Josh Huff. Beware.
This.
now - win the battle of the LOS and they have done that
decisively for several seasons now. A horrid defense did not help either.
Special teams
Game planning
Googs said it well.
We should play to win. We sometimes play not to not to lose. Will the new coach make a difference?
We will see early on
Pressure on Eli?
Pressure on Wentz?
Can we run?
Special teams?
Thanks for the comments fellas
Its not like our D-Line has gotten home often or forced many turnovers, so maybe are better letting Wentz throw underneath, we make the tackle and force the punts.
What say you?
Anybody else chime in too of course...
The eagles dont always win but they are usually tough.

Randall Cunningham's 91 yard punt.

usually wins those games. the lone exception the Matt Dodge/collapse game, that was flukey/stupid plays/coaching

I still don't know how Barden was called for OPI on that play when Asomugha didn't even let him run his route, that was a bad call.
Allowing dinks is not the way to go IMO except on 3rd and long.
On offense I would mix in some max protects and double moves, Also some dumps to RBs but not when Eli looks at the RB the whole way. If we get ahead I would continue to attack. The Eagles have come back when our offense attacks or our defense sits back.
The Eagles long gains on offense have not come from long throws, they come from YAC.

Seems like the majority of their successful runs are still behind that left side w/ Peters & Barbre. That is where we need to be stacked and/or ready for the cutback with Collins probably. Also noted how they are not using their TEs as much which is good as that usually kills us (watch them go off now...). Dallas was focused on defending that screen game and Sean Lee did a nice job so our LBs can't just be dropping into zones.
I would go aggressive man-to-man on WRs to take away the short throws, and have bodies all over the LOS. Sproles or Ryan Mathews may pop a few long ones before we get them down but seems like the benefits of making Wentz uncomfortable outweigh the cons since they don't have a dynamic offense. Can sprinkle in a few zone coverages here and there just to
test him as well.
We have a good healthy secondary, so lets go take it for a ride on this one. Our Offense needs as much help as possible so maybe we give them a few TOs and short fields early on to grab a lead.
- try and establish a a running game early on, mixed in with short passes to Slot and TEs
- Let Eli and OBJ use the entire first half to figure out how they are defending him and exploit it in the second half
This is a winner too...
So true. I hope this team has better leadership and won't crumble at the first sign of adversity. So far this year they've done a great job hanging in there but the eagles are always a different beast
That might explain this year, but not the other 13 games with two of those being SB years.
Sometimes the Eagles won because they were simply the better team, but that's hardly the case over eight full seasons. Most of the times the matchup was fairly even, and in a couple of instances the Giants lost when they were the better team.
This post intrigued because I've been doing a lot of newspaper research the past few months. While going through the Washington Post I read a great preview for one of the Giants-Redskins games in 1986 (forget which one exactly) and Joe Gibbs was asked why his team had such trouble with the Giants while they pretty much handled the rest of the NFL with little trouble. Gibbs answer (I'm paraphrasing here) attributed their struggles being tied to the psychology of past results. he said that when a particular team (or even individual player) repeatedly gets the better of you, you expect it to happen, and it ends up being a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts.
It could be as simple as the Giants knowing they are facing the Eagles and their confidence wanes just enough that when they are in a close game late they expect something bad to happen. How often has that been the case?
I'd try to establish the run in this game with our fresh legs and take the occasional shot. On defense...I think you have to try and make Wentz uncomfortable in the pocket. Force him into making bad decisions.
I feel good about this game...
