Roger Lewis Jr...what are we thinking?

redbeard : 11/7/2016 10:07 am
Whats BBI's thoughts on this kid? Ran a nice route on his TD and then turned around later in the game and dropped a big third down catch that could have been a back breaker.

Are we thinking this kid becomes another undrafted gem at wide receiver? or is he a JAG?

Big catches this year.
Lewis does get open

He's beating his man just has to catch the ones when he knows he's gonna take a shot.
Even with the drops it's better to

Have him out there because the defense has to play him tight due to his ability to get open. More time with the jugs machine hopefully helps with the drops. But overall it's a plus having him on the field. Maybe even more than Cruz at this point.
Look at his Bowling Green

tape. 60+ td's.Most were 50-60 yard catches.
He made tough catches. That drop was unbelievable.
Eli said he should have jumped. He dropped another
few plays later. He is going to be a deep threat and that will
free up everyone else. If Cruz misses time he will be in
mix Monday. Those 2 drops hurt.Like to see Adams TE also
get more passes.
He deserves playing time.

But did I miss something? Didn't Cruz catch a 46 yarder before spraining the ankle? Let's not kick dirt into the grave quite yet.
I actually read yesterday on the game thread someone

say that Eli's pass where he laid it perfectly in between the CB and Safety on the sideline right in Lewis' hands was a bad throw causing him to drop it. This place man.

They will make mistakes but are gaining valuable experience.
Lewis is fine.

You don't make it to the NFL as a wide receiver without already proving that you can catch the ball consistently.

He had a rough game yesterday, but overall looks like a promising player with a lot of athleticism. Let's calm down - drops happen.
Way too early to say

Cruz had plenty of drops when he first started too. However, Lewis doesn't scare a defense so he doesn't get the attention Cruz does. Then there is the fact that Cruz was never a great outside receiver. He's a good #2 but his best position has always been inside.

He's still got a lot to prove.

Less time with the damn choreographed TD celebrations.

Yeah I know get off my lawn.

No, you have a point. His TD dances come off as a piss poor Beckham imitation, and I strongly dislike the original source material from Beckham to begin with.

I noticed Harris on the field towards the end which was a surprise...did Lewis get "benched" b/c these drops?

Anybody?

Harris is an excellent blocking WR. They brought him in as a blocking WR in three WR sets for Perkins to run the ball in the 4 minute offense.

This. They did this last game too.

Thanks guys. Good call
FYI - Combine numbers suggest a back of roster WR who can survive

only on intangibles.

Pro Day numbers, while not phenomenal, put him in the pre-injury Cruz class of athleticism.

Which better represents Lewis?
