Favorite Giants Game Of All Time

Old Dirty Beckham : 11/11/2016 9:51 am
Besides Superbowl 42 (obvious choice for anyone my age, 30)

The playoff game in Dallas was an absolute war. Made me believe the Giants had turned a corner and had the look of a team that could win it all.

Yours?

1981 2nd Dallas game. The 1980 big upset against Dallas.
Carpenter gaining 100 yards against the Falcons(I think).

2000 Championship game, 1986 Championship game(there was some hard assed hits in that one). 2005 Denver comeback...too many to mention.

I would have to say both NFC Title games in San Francisco.

Both of those games had it all. Dominant defense, special teams, big time plays under enormous pressure.

The 90 title game also happens to be my first memory of football, so as the years go by and the legend of that game continues to grow, it becomes even more special to me. To knock off their run at the 3peat, with all the HOFers on the field that day. One of the greatest football games ever.

The 2011 title game also had alot going for it. The revenge factor, my dislike of Harbaugh, the 49ers dominant defense. Eli Manning played the gutsiest game I've ever seen from a QB. Amazing.

1986/87 NFCCG I was there with my dad and we finally made it after so many years of garbage football and being the embarrassment of the league. I can still hear his scream of happiness and see his smile.

Super Bowl XXI because I blew off my friends to watch the game on tv with my dad to finally reach the promised land.

Broncos game where Eli the winning touchdown to Toomer. I took my dad to this game and it would be the last game we'd ever watch together. He couldn't stand much due to illness and age but I held him up so he could see the winning play.

Super Bowl 42/playoff game vs Dallas mainly because I watched them with one of my closest friends and they were great games and TO let us know who his quarterback was.

Lastly the 2011 NFCCG in San Fran. I went there with another one of my closest friends and we had a fantastic time. It was a non stop party topped by a trip to the SUPER BOWL. Also seeing Bob papa stand on the bar at Aces to rally the GIANTS fans was pretty cool too

Three Peat Game
PaulN : 11/11/2016 10:49 am : link
Or the 90 Championship game. By far the most violent game I can remember. The Leonard Marshall hit on Montana that sent him right out of San Fran is something that I will never forget. That game and the following game against the Bills legitimized that Giants team. Up until then it was still the 49rs, and the Redskins, we just had that hex on the Redskins, we really needed that win.

what some of the younger guys here do not understand is that most of the fans in 1986 lived through years that were similar to what the Browns are going through right now... but a lot longer.

The Giants were basically the shit stain of the league through the 60's and 70's. One disaster after another. The franchise was synonymous with "The Fumble" to the point where you STILL see that clip of it today.

So, you have a stadium full of fans and more than half older and have lived through all of that. They are finally tasting it. Finally, we MADE it. All of those years of pain. It was like an inmate being paroled after decades in prison.

Thousands of strangers were hugging each other. Not just the guy sitting next to you...but random guys you saw as you were walking up the aisle, on the concourse and even in the parking lot on the way to your car.

I know it sounds crazy but that game was almost bigger than the Superbowl that year.

Everyone was on the Dallas band wagon - Jerry giving out tickets for the following week, Romo, Whitten down to Mexico leading up to the game.

I had seen that movie, and the way I remembered it is the Giants lose on the last play, well, not this day!!

then the 2007 conference championship in GB.

Montana wobbles off the field. Years of frustration stomped out. LT pick six, Morris runs wild, Simms is in charge. The "genius" Bill Walsh is crushed.

All SB victories were awesome, but the game vs. Niners signaled the end of our shittiness and choking.

+1. Watching that game was a 3 hour party.

The 1990 Championship was clearly a better game, but was so stressful. Heck, most all of the other games cited here were insanely stressful/tense. The outcomes were great, of course.

But 41-0 was awesome...

We have been blessed.

The 86' NFCC was surreal because of the atmosphere. We knew it was our year and that we were going to eat the Broncos alive. The frustration that was alleviated and the demons that were exorcised that day in our house made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

The 90' NFCC and the 07' SB were so unexpected because nobody gave us a chance. I know in 90' that the SB was won against long odds because the Bills were just blowing teams away, but the 49ers had won the previous two Super Bowls and they had their sights set on a three-peat. Of course 18-1 will forever bring a smile to my face.

But my favorite really has to be the 07' playoff win in Dallas. Everyone picked Dallas. We ended their hopes in their house. Jerry Jones face... T.O. crying and sobbing about Romo "That's my quarterback." .... haha ... Then Wade Phillips tells us all that the better team lost that day. ....What?? .... "We love to see arrogance humbled."
'90 NFC Championship for me.
Giantgator : 11/11/2016 2:21 pm : link
They played their hearts out, and just when all looked lost, Erik Howard crushes Craig, LT scoops it, and Matt Bahr seals it. "There will be no three-peat."

This game certainly was one of the great all-time Giants games -- and I thought the 2011 Giants 49ers game was pretty awesome too

but it's hard to say that there was an all time favorite -- there have been many in my book

what about the Packers playoff in the icebowl in 2007 - that game was awesome - the superbowl in that year was pretty awesome too

rebeating the 49ers was awesome in 2012 too

there were plenty of magical games throughout 86

the vikings win in 2000 was pretty awesome - even though it ended in the Ravens debacle

beating Eagles on their home turf in 2007 was an awesome game -- the game Cruz lit up the Jets

turning it around against Buffalo with Bradshaw

I think I could go on and on
The 90 NFC championship game
Carthonfan : 11/11/2016 2:41 pm : link
Was the most tense and exciting from beginning to end and the highest caliber of football I can remember in the modern era. It was an upset but not a huge upset. There were multiple dramatic plays including the fumble and the fake punt. They won on a last second fg. They beat the two time champions with all of those Hall of Famers. The only one that I can think of that comes close is Super Bowl 42.
90 NFCCG was much
Les in TO : 11/11/2016 2:42 pm : link
much better than 2011 NFCCG - the 2011 was a classic, but 90 was two teams that truly hated each other beating the snot out of each other, and as others mentioned backup QB, going against 2 time super bowl champs, long field goal at the buzzer after all hope seemed lost.

Marshall on Montana is tied for me with Manning to Tyree and Mannning to Mannningham as the three greatest plays in Giants history.
Has to be '86 playoff blowout of 49ers😀

Also, or main reason i said 86 nfc champ. game because i was there too. But, after the game ended..everyone hung around in the stadium and celebrated. I was 19 at the time, i sat in "draculas den" for the game sect 237. Afterwards i walked from level to level..all little intra parties..people brought champagn into game and were pooping corks..it was like one big family..giants family..as i got invited to sit in a few celebrations..drink champgn and celebrate as a whole..

as i walked, around..going through concourse as well, i watched as old times and seemed to be friends, family, sons etc..hug and tears flowing..not just one section..many se tipns inside that stadium that late evening. Witnessing that made this my fav game..along with the whole game ..prior to kick off, outside, the game itself, and afterwards..and a fitting weather atmosphere. Exp..ill never exp again in my lifetime again and a memory

Couldn't have said it better. I was born in '56, the last Giants championship year before the '86 season. In '63 I began to understand what my father basically made me watch with him in black and white every Sunday afternoon.

"The Fumble' in '78 caused me to throw a beer mug at my TV screen. Everything got turned around the next year and it '86 we were finally relieved of our suffering.

I met my future ex-wife at the '49ers game and our first date was the championship game. Without that team, I'm pretty sure I'd still be single and be without the two fantastic sons I have today.

It's maudlin, I know, but thank God for that team.

1984 Giants Vs Cowboys we slapped them 28-7 at home .
When we went down to Texas Stadium they were celebrating
there Silver 25th year anniversary and Cowboys had a
big Hoopla going on big halftime event ect. and we beat
them again . At the end of the game they switched
to the Post Game show and Brent Mussberger was fumbling through
papers not even noticing the camera was on him .
Jimmy The Greek was holding his head up elbow on the table
picking up and dropping a pencil not prepared for the
consensus Cowboy win .
The camera pans over to Irv Cross who is grinning ear to ear
and does the analogy of the Giants win ....
I cracked up they were so sure we wouldn't beat them
on this holy day and the only one prepared was good
old Philly Eagle great Irv Cross ..
