What has happened to Klaatu?

Doomster : 11/24/2016 11:40 pm
I was flicking through the channels today, saw Day the Earth Stood Still, and it made me think of him.....I don't recall any posts by him in awhile......I know I haven't been slammed by him in awhile, though others have picked up the torch.....just wondering....

Take care of yourself - you can bounce back, make the changes and stick with them...Happy Holidays and God bless..
Got the shock treatment when I got the hospital, too.

(Shout out to the good folks at St. Claire's in Denville, NJ).

Apparently, as they were transferring me from the ambulance gurney to the emergency room bed, my heart started to go haywire. I heard someone say, "Clear!" In my head, I was thinking Hey, that's what they used to say on Emergency, and then WHAM! I think I bounced three feet off the bed. What a rush.

FYI, after I got up off the kitchen floor and called 911, I still had the presence of mind (and the strength) to put on clean underwear before the ambulance arrived. Mom would have approved.
LOL and ew.

Hey, Rob. Most of the changes have to do with my diet...more related to the diabetes than the heart attack. I was actually released from the hospital a couple of days earlier than they initially figured. So now I'm almost 30 pounds lighter than I was a month ago, and this morning my sugar was 130 (and that was after a little cheating - just a little - on Thanksgiving).
Sorry to hear.
BigBlue in Keys : 11/25/2016 11:20 am : link
I'm mainly a lurker but always enjoyed your posts. Your humor is missed, you are a funny guy!

After my dad's heart attack(15+ years ago) he went into a depression for a little while and was afraid to do things. His Dr put him in a support group with other heart attack patients and hearing their stories helped him mentally. He only went to a few meetings but it helped. Hoping the best for you.

Hadn't been feeling well for several weeks before it happened. Also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (the first time they took my blood sugar at the hospital I scored a 422. Willy Wonka's blood sugar was never that high).

So, as you can imagine, I've been going through quite a few lifestyle changes since then. Haven't really felt much like talking, let alone arguing with the usual suspects. I still lurk, though.

You and I have butted heads on here before. That said I hope you are ok and are recovering nicely. Happy holidays

Really bummed to hear about that, but glad to hear you're OK and on your way to better condition. My guess is that along with diet and exercise, they put you on metformin, but there's lots of stuff out there nowadays. The diet and exercise is most important and has nice side benefits. Glad you're hanging in there and doing ok. And thanks for the DS9 recommendation. ... made it all the way thru :)

But glad you survived the double whammy. That tag team often means it's over.
And seriously...do not watch the Giants games for a while; at most check in periodically, but even better catch scores about 3&1/2 hours after KO. I was 8 when I first became a fan in 1956, and now per my Doc I have the body of a 104 year old; at least 50% of the wear and tear was due to the Giants.
Glad you're feeling better

I definitely feel the love. Best medicine I've had in weeks. Well...second best, actually, but I don't want to get political.

River Mike, now I have to get you hooked on UFO.

ROK, you crazy bastard. This is no time for hot Asian chicks. Wait until I'm through with Cardiac Rehab.

B in ALB. For 39 years I was indestructible. Then I hit 40 and it was like I was off warranty. Such is life.

Anyone I haven't mentioned, well, there just aren't enough words, but all of your good wishes are greatly appreciated.

Big Uglies, baby, early and often. Big WR, and a big RB, too, and an OLB with speed.

Holy crap. I signed off the thread when someone above said you pull a disappearing act from time to time. Just got back to the site, this thread, its explosive post numbers, and your pretty lousy news.

Just here to echo the good advice, take your new lifestyle to heart and make it a crusade to be the best at it you can be, and creative to boot. It's clear that many, many here are rooting for you big time and will welcome you back on your own terms and time. And God bless your coming through this.
Had no idea this happened.

Hey, Klaatu,
Doomster : 11/27/2016 12:11 pm : link
just remember, who missed you first! :)

As others have mentioned, maybe you should tape the Giant game instead of watching the game live? My freakin' blood pressure goes off the charts sometimes......

As for your sugar condition, that is something you want to control with diet and not medication.....hope you recover quickly....

PS.....I just went and changed my underwear....you never know....
Good luck on your recovery, Klaatu.

I'm sorry you had to go through this, though this is probably some much needed perspective (at least for me) on gameday. Thanks for the update and I hope you keep feeling better each day.
