I'm probably being naive but I think we still have an outside shot at catching the Cowboys. I think we'll beat them in the Meadowlands. I hope that first Redskins game doesn't come back to haunt us.
But if the Giants make it as a Wild Card, who do you prefer we play in the first round?
@Cleveland - W
@Pittsburgh - L
Dallas - L
Detroit - W
@Philly - L
@Washington - W
I think the way the division is shaping it is fair to expect splits with each team and a 3-3 division record.
I'll say 10-6 & the 5th seed. I'd prefer to play Detroit in the WC game, I think a road trip to Atlanta or Minnesota would be tough.
I can guarantee this though, Dallas wants no part of the Giants in the divisional round.
@Pittsburgh - L
Dallas - W
Detroit - W
@Philly - W
@Washington - L

Oh, and I think then we get Detroit again in the 1st Rd, as they will be the #4 seed.
@Pittsburgh: W
Dallas: W
Detroit: L
@Philly: W
@Washington: W
Plus, consider this: Outside of the Giants, the Cowboys play the Vikings, Bucs, Lions and Eagles. All teams within striking distance of a wild card.
In some ways we want the Cowboys to win all those non-Giants games because it strengthens out chances to maintain the WC.
(If the Vikings somehow beat them on Thursday, all bets are off and we are going for the division title!)
Either way I think we make the playoffs. Maybe we will get Atlanta in round 1 like 2011. Give Ryan another beat down then head to Seattle or Dallas. Then face one or the other on the championship. Then take Brady down for the third time cementing Eli in canton.
Beat the Browns and get past Steelers (win or lose) without getting beat up and the Giants will roll The rest of the way.
Getting Vereen back could mean 2 more wins just because they can control the game and 3rd down.
imo, thinking of Eli and what he did in 07 and 11, and now is not guaranteed of repeating. Different teams and a few years older. Can he repeat, it's hopeful, but not realistically expected to. He had better people up front (not the best, but better) protecting him. I'd feel more comfortable (now knowing) of what happened back then 5 years ago with him and etc, than now. JS jmo
I don't think our OL can hold up for the rest of the season.....I think it will be 9-7, 10-6......
Our defense will be gassed by the end of the season......our offense just can't put teams away and this will come back and bite us in the ass......
This is not being negative, it's just a fact.....
We have been fortunate that our defense has played as well as it has, with the guys we are trotting out there at LB and FS.....our DL just does not have the rotation depth to keep our starters fresh....
Our offense, is still basically, OBj and Eli....take either out of the game and the offense sputters.....SS has played as expected.....he's a rookie, that is a little inconsistent....but his playing time this year will pay dividends next year.....Cruz is Cruz.....he is one step away from losing playing time....he also is not the VC we remember.....after these guys you have hit and miss receivers, including the TE's.....a TE and 3rd WR are needed next year....
Our running game shows signs of life, sometimes....but there is basically no speed.....the loss of Wilson, is so apparent, when you see Jennings rip off a run for 20 yards that Wilson would have taken to the house.....but when you absolutely need, a first down on 3rd and short, it's a coin toss....Eli has played well, for the most part, but we have seen how he reacts in games where there is real pressure.....and the way this OL is being shuffled around, he will be seeing more.....the OL has to be fixed in the off season....it's almost a number one priority, like the defense was last year, next year....
I think injuries are starting to become a factor on this team.....
We have a good chance at making the playoffs.....but how far we go, depends on how healthy we remain.....

I think we lose to Pitt Philly and Wash . but Detroit also
scares me . I just have a feeling we sweep the mighty
Cowpukes and give Buck indigestion .

Dallas wins the division at 13-3
I think we get to Dallas in the Divisional round. Where it goes from there? It will be up to Eli.
I just think Seattle is going to win it all and we could falter
down the stretch if the injuries continue to mount .
I don't see us winning in Philly or Washington and Detroit
will also be a very tough match-up .
I feel that the O-line will be our undoing in the end .
Obviously Dallas isn't a given but I do think we match up
well with them ...
But after 10 games, I am disappointed in this offense.....it plays too conservative....it doesn't know how to go for the jugular, and puts too much pressure on the defense.....and the OL is just too suspect...
And one thing I forgot, and you know it's going to happen sometime, ST's will cost us a game.....
That being said I will hold out hope for division but not be surprised with 9 - 7 finish and missing play offs again. So probably 10 wins is my expectation.
I think we go 11-5 and get the #5 seed. Dallas would have to have a major down turn in their play to flub the division. I think we may beat them though. Our team is built in a way that can subvert them.
Do you remember our defense at the end of the 2008 season?
With the injuries, do you think our OL has improved?
Do you think we can run the ball when we have to?
Are you happy with the play of the TE's?
I am a Giant fan like you....I hope they make the playoffs, where anything can happen.....but that is tempered by the way this offense has played this year, and also by the injuries that are starting to rear it's ugly head....
This is a team that has not played well, since the second half of 2012.....it's not going to be fixed in one season.....if we can fix the offense next year, like we did the defense this year, then next year is most definitely, our better shot....

We are going to be 8-3. To say we haven't played well since 2012 is not true, unless your standard is winning every game by 25 points. Based on your comment, I bet you didn't think we played well in either Super Bowl year either.
With that said, our offense needs to start exerting itself and start to make bigger plays. It's time to start ramping up to the playoffs.
...at 9-7.

Who we meet in the playoffs doesn't matter one iota. The fact that the 2016 Giants team even got into the playoffs with an inferior offensive front is plenty good.
2017 will be our year with a serious push to the Super Bowl!
Disagree at every level...We haven't been fortunate, we have extreme talent on the Defensive side and Will get better.
And no depth? What are you looking for all pros on the bench.? Wynn, Bromely, Odi (who is coming on now) and the kid from Notre Dame. I don't think anyone in the game can come close to that front 8.
I count six all pro types on the defense . And at the positions of extreme importance in today's passing game we have four all pro types. Vernon (who is over the hand and getting better), JPP, Cromartie and Janoris.
Kennard and Robinson give us more athleticism at LB'er than we've had since LT and crew retired.
Collins is emerging as a candidate for defensive player of the year.
Guys look at this cornucopia of riches and cry "poverty". " We're lucky to get this far, now we're sure to wear out,"
Nuts!

I said they haven't played well, since the second half of the 2012 season, 3-5...2013, 7-9....2014, 6-10......2015, 6-10.....so since the midpoint of 2012, the Giants are, 22-34, with a majority of those wins against bottom feeders....so they have not played well, until this season.....
Based on your comment, I bet you didn't think we played well in either Super Bowl year either.
How in the world, do you come off on a tangent like that?
I see stuff, written, that we are going to run the table the rest of the season.....that we are going to catch the Cowboys.....is it possible? yes....realistic? no....
I tend to look at the Giants more realistically, than most do.....of course, Christmas is coming, and if you want to send me a pair of the Blue Tints you wear, I'll give it a shot....
I think the OL has been showing improvement but the injuries have killed them. But these guys will be coming back, so that should solidify things a bit. The Giants also have far and away the best defense in the division. Winning the division will be tough, considering the schedules for us and Dallas, but it's still what we should be striving for. That's why I was hoping for a Dallas loss on Thanksgiving. It's an uphill climb, but let's enjoy the ride
Think we have a great chance to beat Cowboys in NJ, but we will need them to slip elsewhere too as we aren't going to run the table.
In the playoffs, hopefully we have the O-line back healthy and Vereen and can make some noise against anyone other than traveling to Seattle...
No way anybody wants a piece of the Giants come playoff time. I just hope they can get to the Divisional Round.
Not enough for some though...
If they keep this up the Giants will make some noise and they certainly will be relevant through the rest of the season. If somehow the offense wakes up -- look out!!!
Relevant football - Yeah Baby - Go Giants!!!
"This is not being negative, it's just a fact....."
It's to hard to imagine a more negative view. Perhaps Manning being decapitated but that's about it.
Why will the Giants be anymore gassed than any other team?
The goal is to make the playoffs...as tempting as it might be to see the Vikings beat the Cowboys next week. I think we are better off with a Vikings loss to improve the chances of the wildcard berth.
Realistically, I see the Giants at 11-5 and a 5 seed. I'd prefer to play ATL or DET as I think we match up well with both. Road playoff games in a dome would help the offense.
The only team I don't want to see is Seattle. In Seattle would be tough and the defenses are similar. Their offense is playing better and they have a lot of playoff experience on their roster.
@ Minnesota - L?
@ New York Giants - L
Tampa Bay - W
Detroit - W
@ Philadelphia - L?
Likely need Dallas to lose at the Giants and 2 more losses to end up 12-4
@Pittsburgh - L?
Dallas - W
Detroit - W
@Philly - W?
@Washington - W?
Giants would need to beat Dallas and only lose 1 more to end up 12-4. Winning the division seems very unlikely.
11-5 and Wildcard seed 1 (5th overall), playing at Detroit is my guess / most reasonable hope.
9-7 will mean missing the playoffs. 10-6 is about a 50/50 shot; most likely the #6 seed and tougher division opponent.
Just going to enjoy the ride. Been a while since we've been able to even have a discussion like this after Thanksgiving.
