Yet the amount of negativity on here is astounding. We're playing down to our opponents. Haven't beaten real teams, etc. Blah blah.
Reality check. We haven't been a real team in a long time. 2 straight 6-10 seasons and a 7-9 season the past 3 years.
We haven't been good enough as a franchise to be thumbing our collective noses at any wins.
Just enjoy this you lunatics.
We will learn a ton this last third of the year.
Every week was the same.
It feels like smoke and mirrors at this point. That's why all the negativity reigns. We all have eyes. We know what we've been seeing. Hopefully the offense wakes the fuck up.
2007 NYG 2nd half:
@ DET: W 16-10
v. MIN: L 41-17 (the multi pick 6 game...)
@ CHI: W 21-16
@ PHI: W 16-13
v. WAS: L 22-10
@ BUF: W 38-21
v. NE: L 38-35
so until the buffalo clincher, that would be a 3-2 2nd half record, squeaking by 3 pretty shitty teams, getting annihilated at home, and laying an egg at home.
people need to realize we're 8-3 and the goal is get into the tournament. we wanna be playing our best football in a month.
The Skins are good but not great, and the we've already beaten the Cowboys away and Dak gets to play in the cold for the first time in a hostile environment.....
Giants will win three at least....

I see 2-3 wins. Why should the Eagles, who we already beat handily, the Lions, or the Redskins be losses? We beat the Cowboys and the Steelers arent exactly a juggernaut either. I dont get it. We could win out looking at it realistically but split the difference I still see 2-3 wins and a 10/11 win finish.

I feel the same way. What is so scary about the schedule?? The Cowboys are the only team with a better record than us and we already beat them. What am I missing?
Really? Wow. I saw a completely dominant performance by our D today. The 6 points were handed to the Browns off turnovers or stupid penalties in the first half. The big TD drive by the Browns in the second half was fueled by a miracle throw to Prior from their own endzone for almost 50 yards and then another long throw in the endzone after Jenkins slipped and he had an hour to throw(on of the only times all day). That was pretty much it for the Browns O. Yeah the Giants played a little bend but dont break in the 4th when they were up by two TDs but who cares?

Even our defense today got some nice flashy stats allowed over 300 yards to fucking Josh McCown. I'm not sure we'd beat any other team in the league with this effort.

100% agree ^^^^
D has gelled and has played great during this winning streak. I think this whole potential playoff run depends on the offense making things happen. I'm not concerned about the defense at all.
He has to clean up his play. Of course, we know he can get hot, and he's going to have to be more efficient over the remainder of the schedule with the running game still stalled.
Just make the playoffs, and let the chips fall where they may. Winning breeds winning. Do it any way you can, and "find a path to victory," as McAdoo says. The Steelers scored 17 points on offense against the Browns last week and they're 6-5, yet it's a foregone conclusion we're going to lose next week? Screw that, let's bring it on.
Hoping Pugh can come back and that will give the OL a huge jolt. And when will we be able to get anything out of Beatty? Ever?
The OL is the key. It's been so terrible the team not only can't run the ball at all, period, but can't reliably go deep.
I also want to see a third DE step up to give JPP and Vernon a break. I thought Owa looked okay against Chicago.
I'm enjoying the wins, but like it has been said, this team doesn't pass the eye test. The good news is that there's still 5 games to go.
Next week in Pittsburgh is the big test. No hiding, no cheesing, no excuses.
I'm not complaining, mind you: I've been shaving since 1976, so I've seen a lot of shitty football in my day - being 8-3 going into December is a great feeling and never gets old, no matter who we've played.
But this isn't a great team, by any measure. We'll know a lot more after we play Dallas.
But, but, but....
They don't pass the eye test!
BBI mouth breathers.
But this isn't a good time to beat our chests, either. We've got five tough games to go before we know what we've really got.
It's not mouth breathing. It's hedging your bets.
I don't know why BBI'ers expect perfection from the Giants but not from the other teams in the league. Every team, including the Pats and Cowboys, have issues. You can pick any of them apart if you look at it from the Madden 2017 perspective.
Exactly.
And even then, we had a punt return TD called back on a BS call, a long PI on Beckham uncalled, and we won a road game going away.
People underestimate how hard it is to win, let alone on the road. and we did it without really being threatened.
I see a flawed offense that is a few pieces away from being a consistently goos unit, but which has one explosive skills player and a QB who are both capable of making opposing teams pay for mistakes.
Are we going to win the Superbowl? I don't know, probably not, but it is not impossible to imagine.
I am just happy to be heading into December at 8 - 3 in the first season under our new head coach. The team has exceeded expectations and the arrow is pointing up.
To read some of the threads here you would think that we were the team that is winless this season, not the Browns. Enjoy the ride, flaws and all.
Sure, it's fine to speculate.
But the one and only thing that matters right now is going into Pittsburgh and stealing that win.
How good are we feeling going into the Dallas game with the Steelers notched into our belt?
One at a time.

35-10....all offensive points.
We're entering week 13 with MEANINGFUL football.
My wife asked me if the Giants had a chance to go to the superbowl. I said it's to early to say.
She hasn't asked me this in a long time.
Fixed O-line allows Eli more time to make accurate throws so he isn't constantly rushed and off tempo.
Fixed O-line improves our running game.
Fixed O-line allows McAdoo to open up the playbook more.
Fixed O-line allows Eli to use his TEs more as he won't be constantly looking for the quick 3-second slant.
Sure, it's fine to speculate.

That would be ideal.
But with me, I've actually been more confident in previous years when sitting at 6-5. As infuriating as Gilbride was (and I was one of the people who wanted him gone) his offenses always had this element where, if Eli and his receivers found that very elusive chemistry, they were absolutely unstoppable. So there was always this hope that the offense could put it together and become a unit unlike anything we had seen throughout the first 3/4s of the regular season.
Now this year, even though we are 8-3, there haven't been flashes of development or big play ability... or unstoppability. It seems the offense is what it is, and it's certainly good enough to get you to the dance, but it doesn't look like something that can form into a championship caliber offense like we have in the past.
So it'd be idiotic for me to hate on the team right now, but it's all about winning championships. This isn't to say I'm unhappy at all, but it does subdue the enthusiasm I'd typically have after an 8-3 start in the Coughlin era. I don't feel confident in this team's ability to win the Super Bowl, and that tempers my enthusiasm despite the absolutely satisfying start.
That hopefully explains where I'm coming from. Can't speak for anyone else.
Yet they are 8-3 with that very offense.
Every week is different. Say it in your head over and over again until it sinks in. Then say it again. Every week is different!
Are you telling me that because the Giants only scored 17 offensive
Pts today that they won't score 28 next week at Pitt?? You wanna bet a lot of money on that? An Eli Manning Beckham offense can't explode at any given time?
Just get to ten wins. Above all else just build something and you never know we just might do something this season. Enjoy this. Giants can hang with teams I think it's obvious by now.
Completely agree, but it still has us where we are as an offense.
