For what seems like years, BBI threads were full of commentary about how this team - and most often it was in reference to the defense - had little to no real leadership.
As this feel-good stretch of games and a so-far solid season unfolds, who are the emerging leaders?
Eli's always been one, but he's a quiet leader.
How much emphasis can we place on which guys are leading breakdowns, etc? Pre-game, Jennings seemed to have it for the O ... Herzlich for the specials ... then in the locker room, Mac calls for Kelvin Sheppard, a guy playing his first season in blue. JPP has re-emerged, and Vernon certainly is a presence.
What do you folks see, as far as the leaders?

This
Collins is becoming the leader on Defense.
OBJ and Collins appear to exhibit leadership qualities too.
Eli, JPP, Vernon, Collins, Richburg, Cruz
Are you guys noticing anything else? Is he making calls on the field? Being a more vocal leader?
Casillas is probably another one.
Casillas seems like a good leader on the defense as a whole.
Collins also seems to have emerged as a good leader in the secondary. He and DRC have a pregame routine where they pump each other up.
And Snacks is the best. He seems to be a good facilitator. JPP seems like a good motivator. His speeches pregame get me hyped.
On the line, Richburg seems like a hardass who is central to that group. Hart is good on the field with regulating the defense and protecting our guys. He was the one who went at the defender and got smacked by the Eagles(?) LB after they gave a cheap shot to Odell. Drew a penalty on that actually.
Pugh
.
It's a smart approach since he has yet to establish himself as HC and it makes everything fresh. There are no 'sacred cows' on this Giants team and everybody is buying in. Helps to have Rabbit and OV to be new guys who are among the best players. The Giants are new to them also.
JPP has always led by example on the field with his hustle. But it seems like he's taking a more vocal role. He seems to be one of the ringleaders in the pre-game defensive huddle.
And they can do Hanksgiving next year at John's house...
Only leader on this club is Eli.....maybe that is part of the problem....
Collins has potential.....
Stats dont always translate to leader.
An something tells me he heats up soon.

I think Cruz is the leader of the WR corps, with OBJ obviously being the superstar.
Agree with most of the rest, but I think JPP is probably more of a leader than Casillas. The accident changed him to the better I think. He sounds much more mature, and well grounded in his interviews now. Before the accident, for me at least, he came across as arrogant with high sense of entitlement. I didnt think he had the right attitude.

You dont have to be the best to be the leader. You need to bring out the best in other. Pierce was the leader of the defense, when he wasnt the best player on the unit... played with Stray, Osi, & Tuck who were all better players than him.
I thought it would be Richburg but... he seems to be sullen this season.
Collins is already the leader on D. He is the guy who the reporters come to speak to after the game. Another team captain in college.
