So, who are the emerging leaders on this team?

Beezer : 11/29/2016 11:38 am
For what seems like years, BBI threads were full of commentary about how this team - and most often it was in reference to the defense - had little to no real leadership.

As this feel-good stretch of games and a so-far solid season unfolds, who are the emerging leaders?

Eli's always been one, but he's a quiet leader.

How much emphasis can we place on which guys are leading breakdowns, etc? Pre-game, Jennings seemed to have it for the O ... Herzlich for the specials ... then in the locker room, Mac calls for Kelvin Sheppard, a guy playing his first season in blue. JPP has re-emerged, and Vernon certainly is a presence.

What do you folks see, as far as the leaders?

This
Collins is becoming the leader on Defense.
Casillas is an obvious one, named captain in his second season with

the team.

OBJ and Collins appear to exhibit leadership qualities too.

Sheppard breaks the team in the locker room at games end does not mean he is a leader. IMO:

Eli, JPP, Vernon, Collins, Richburg, Cruz
Regarding Collins ...
Beezer : 11/29/2016 11:43 am : link
Clearly his play is standing out.

Are you guys noticing anything else? Is he making calls on the field? Being a more vocal leader?
dj ...
Beezer : 11/29/2016 11:44 am : link
Yeah. Didn't mean to intimate that he is ... just was an interesting call by the coach, and made me wonder.
Don't look now...
arcarsenal : 11/29/2016 11:45 am : link
But Odell is quickly becoming one.

Casillas is probably another one.
Odell isn't that bad as a
adamg : 11/29/2016 11:45 am : link
leader among the WR corps. He seems to be a catalyst for those guys.

Casillas seems like a good leader on the defense as a whole.

Collins also seems to have emerged as a good leader in the secondary. He and DRC have a pregame routine where they pump each other up.

And Snacks is the best. He seems to be a good facilitator. JPP seems like a good motivator. His speeches pregame get me hyped.

On the line, Richburg seems like a hardass who is central to that group. Hart is good on the field with regulating the defense and protecting our guys. He was the one who went at the defender and got smacked by the Eagles(?) LB after they gave a cheap shot to Odell. Drew a penalty on that actually.
Is Pugh considered a leader on the O-line at all?
Beezer : 11/29/2016 11:45 am : link
What about Richburg? He'd seem a natural.
At least until he was injured

Pugh

B-Mac is approaching this
bignygfan : 11/29/2016 11:48 am : link
Like it's all new.

It's a smart approach since he has yet to establish himself as HC and it makes everything fresh. There are no 'sacred cows' on this Giants team and everybody is buying in. Helps to have Rabbit and OV to be new guys who are among the best players. The Giants are new to them also.
There is
oldog : 11/29/2016 11:48 am : link
real leadership, at last. Eli, JPP, Collins, Rogers-Cromartie, Jenkins, ODB, and McAdoo. A team that intends to win.
appears that odell is the guy on offense along with cruz
Tuckrule : 11/29/2016 11:49 am : link
and defense is JPP no doubt about it
I think Snacks has become a leader too
gidiefor : Mod : 11/29/2016 11:50 am : link
he is well liked by the rest of the Dline --- they all invited themselves over to his place for Thanksgiving --- maybe that should be Snacksgiving
Snacks seems
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 11/29/2016 11:51 am : link
like a guy who people respect a ton.

JPP has always led by example on the field with his hustle. But it seems like he's taking a more vocal role. He seems to be one of the ringleaders in the pre-game defensive huddle.

talk the talk.....Casillas? Are you kidding me?

Only leader on this club is Eli.....maybe that is part of the problem....

Collins has potential.....
Casillas is absolutely a leader

I think Cruz is the leader of the WR corps, with OBJ obviously being the superstar.

Agree with most of the rest, but I think JPP is probably more of a leader than Casillas. The accident changed him to the better I think. He sounds much more mature, and well grounded in his interviews now. Before the accident, for me at least, he came across as arrogant with high sense of entitlement. I didnt think he had the right attitude.

You dont have to be the best to be the leader. You need to bring out the best in other. Pierce was the leader of the defense, when he wasnt the best player on the unit... played with Stray, Osi, & Tuck who were all better players than him.
Bobby Hart and I'm not joking
Mason : 11/29/2016 4:16 pm : link
Seems to be very vocal with his teammates. Remember he is the one that calms down OBJ and I seen him congratulate defensive players when they come off the field. He also went to speak to Lewis when he screwed up a few weeks ago. You can tell he was a team captain. That whole drafting team captains thing is very interesting.

I thought it would be Richburg but... he seems to be sullen this season.

Collins is already the leader on D. He is the guy who the reporters come to speak to after the game. Another team captain in college.
Forgot about Snacks Harris too
Mason : 11/29/2016 4:17 pm : link
yep he is one too.
