The lead up to Sunday at Pittsburgh has me thinking of that

Victor in CT : 11/29/2016 12:08 pm
great 2008 game at Heinz Field. Two heavyweights slugging it out on a cold, damp evening with the Giants prevailing. I really thought that was a preview of Super Bowl 43, but fate (Burress) and injuries on defense intervened. It's still one of my favorite reg season games.

Eric, is it possible to pull the review from that game?

Matt in SGS, have you thought about doing one of your throwback game stories on this one?
I Love that Game also. I Picked the Right Score 21-14 GIANTS.

I have the game and it's on my list, I'll have it for this off-season.
I could see the final score being

the same this go-around.

Let's hope.

I remember watching that game

At the round table in Waikiki. I got to the bar at 6am. Was hammered by the time kick off came around. I was with some redskin fan friends. They lost to the Dan Orlofsky led Lions that day. Man when Harrison flubbed the snap for the safety I was freaking out. What a great game that was for us.
That game was so epic

got so tired of hearing the Steelers would have won if their long snapper didnt get hurt, BS, they took all momentum in that game. Legit win, should have been a highlight to a repeat SB win. Didnt want to believe Plax dictating coverage meant that much, but it did. Fark!!!

before Plax shot himself, we had beaten all 4 teams that played in the conference championships. Ravens, Steelers, Cardinals and Eagles the first time we played them.

We beat the Eagles the second time also if Hixon had caught a perfectly thrown bomb. It was all downhill after that drop with the exception of a great OT game against the Panthers. That was the best team (pre shooting) of Coughlin's era. That was a lost Super Bowl. You could make the argument that we stole 2 so you can't regret that much.
Didn't Plaxico also have to sit the first quarter or half of that game

due to disciplinary issues?

stole 2, gave one away.
That game and running for 200+ yards against the Ray Lewis

Ravens defense were 2 of the best regular season wins in recent memory.

It's a shame that team peaked early and Plax shot himself
Great game

But I also think that Burress's shooting was the second best thing that could have happened to the fans. The first obviously would have been a SB win. Now Burress getting injured means that everyone is positive that had we not had that happen we'd have won the Super Bowl. Not to be a contrarian but there's no guarantee of that. Kind of annoys me how it's always some objective truth that we would have repeated.

The Burress thing did not help...but I think that team peaked early as well. They rolled thru the early part of the schedule.

Earth, Wind, and Fire was in full effect.
This is one of my favorite regular season games ever.

And don't forget the epic interception of Big Ben by BBIer Bryan Kehl - probably the lone highlight of his career.
