The Giants will promote practice squad safety Eric Pinkins to the active roster, per source. No word on corresponding move.

Orleans Darkwa likely headed to IR, per source. Been dealing w/leg injury. Helps Vereen's return is on horizon, though not likely this week.
I'm waiting for the Giants

Since Darkwa has never been given a fair shake,
hope for his sake, he can find another team to hook up
with next year. If I was in his shoes, that's exactly
what I would do. When he did have a chance to run with the
ball, he produced, good luck to him.
I am not saying I am his biggest fan, just he seemed to
produce, with limited opportunities.

Yep.
Or if/when Jones, Pugh,

and/or Newhouse are healthy, McDermott or Gettis could go back to the PS when Vereen is ready. It depends on who is healthy at the right time.
I know that coaches know better
kash94 : 11/29/2016 5:28 pm : link
but prior to this injury what was the reason why he wasn't playing? He always looked very solid
Well, he has been "disrupting the offense" in practice
j_rud : 11/29/2016 5:29 pm : link
Because that's common knowledge to the average fan...
What about Newhouse ?
Bluesbreaker : 11/29/2016 5:30 pm : link
Never thought I would say that but the way the run game is
going healthy body is needed .

Seems like they are committed to Perkins now

Darkwa was going to cut more into his time than Jennings I'd imagine. Getting Vereen back could be huge down the stretch. If the perfect storm hits, maybe something will click for the line with Jennings/Vereen/Perkins peaking at the same time as well.

I believe Andre Williams was cut. That was his "fair shake."

Darkwa was obviously either being outplayed by Perkins, OR was hurt. They haven't cut him. They put him on IR. He may be back next season.
I also heard that he has been very disruptive....
GiantsUA : 11/29/2016 6:04 pm : link
I read it somewhere, can't remember the source.

hmmm
If we could get Vereen back for Dallas
Simms11 : 11/29/2016 6:32 pm : link
It would be huge and also for the stretch run, as well. He's a very nice target on 3rd downs and a nice safety valve for Eli.

.

Why would Darkwa want to come back here, no reason for him.
Shockingly, they cut Williams and kept him.
Personally I was glad they did cut Williams
As soon as Jennings was healthy, Darkwa was BACK TO THE BENCH! Even though the argument can be made he is a better
inside runner, Jennings is playing because they are paying!
It's really no more than that, Perkins may be the future,
hasn't been a better runner so far.

They should just finish with him.

guess is a rb would be signed to the pratice squad soon.
The starting RB job was there for the taking...

Darkwa didn't get it because he didn't earn it. He played well in small bites, but was often hurt and unavailable. You can't depend on a guy who can't stay on the field...
Darkwa is so overrated its not even funny
blueblood : 11/29/2016 9:45 pm : link
seriously.. guy is mediocre at best
Weird obsession with Darkwa around these parts.
arcarsenal : 11/29/2016 9:52 pm : link
The guy really isn't that good.

Exactly. They won't carry ten offensive linemen indefinitely.

McDermott is only on the roster because a backup center is an absolute requirement. When Jones comes back, McDermott is done - and he might not even stick around on the practice squad if the other interior OL are on the mend. His roster spot is probably earmarked for Vereen, subject to SV's rehab and injury developments elsewhere.

Gettis is a tougher call, especially if he continues not to be a liability filling in for Pugh in Pittsburgh (assuming JP isn't fully back yet). Gettis's problem is the same as it's always been: lack of positional versatility. Hard to tie up a roster spot on a mediocre backup LG. He's safe until all three injured OL are cleared. Then he'll be back on the bubble, because Newhouse seems to be a viable option at Gettis's one position.

As for Pinkins, there might be room for him after Herzlich clears the protocol. I don't see a spot for a seventh LB, but a hybrid S/LB might be a different matter.
So if Pinkins plays well ...

Does that send Berhe to the IR when Vereen returs?
Orleans Darkwa was impressive against the Cowboys.

Darkwa is one of those guys.

Cooper Taylor was one of those guys.

Stevie Brown was one too.

The Levens reference makes me laugh every time. One of the funniest stories in BBI lore.
