This week, the world's oldest person will celebrate her 117th birthday.

Emma Morano was born on either Nov. 27 or Nov. 29, 1899, in Civiasco, Italy. (The date depends on who you ask.)

Morano is the last person alive who was born in the 1800s. Up until last year, she lived by herself in an apartment in Italy. Now, she has a full-time caregiver, said the Daily Mail.

Morano says she's lived a long times because he she eats so many eggs. She started eating eggs every day when she was 20 and diagnosed with anemia. She's also told reporters that she drinks a glass of homemade brandy every day.

seems like a good longevity recipe to me.

Could add bacon, though ...
I have a hard time thinking

Think of everything she's seen. The birth of cars and flight. Two world wars, space travel (which would have been an insane thought when she was a kid), the rise of the US and more.

Truly incredible.
And here I didn't think

There was anyone living since the last time the Cubs won the World Series.
Just saying...

Morano also has told reporters that she partially credits her long life to the fact that she has lived alone since she got rid of her husband in 1938.
Some cool facts in the NY Times article

Or a match to light. I can't imagine eggs and brandy will lead to some pleasant smells. Haha.

That the oldest living person is 145 and lives in the Philippines. And he had paperwork to back it up. He said for his 146th birthday he just wanted to die because everyone he knew was long gone.

lol - can't wrap my head around it. Age 117, looking back 47 years since your 70th birthday.

As a guy, it would be really great sitting on a beach surrounded by silicone which hasn't been interested in you for well over a half century.
