Yay. "Rivalry Night" on NBCSN. This should be a lopsided affair. Probably a good game to watch on mute with the omnipresent Yinzs knob-slobbering and the Isles suckitude rendering listening impossible.
Greiss gets the call in net again. Stop the presses: Ryan Strome has been pulled from the pressbox. He rejoins the lineup while Quine sits. As well, Scott Mayfield brings his size and grit tonight while Pelech gets the night off after the hard hit into the boards last game.
It could get late early out there, so my advice: drink heavily.
Some farm notes: Mathew Barzal is back to his point scoring ways, and has 11 points in the 8 games since rejoining Seattle in the WHL. He has also been named to Canada's WJC selection camp, so expect him to lead the way when the WJC starts after Christmas.
David Quenneville of Medicine Hat leads all WHL defenseman in goals and points, going 13-18-31 so far and leads d-men in PPG with 9. He has a 9-game point scoring streak. Tri-Cities Parker Wotherspoon also has impressed going 5-19-24 in 24 games.
In the KHL, Ilya Sorokin continues his excellent goaltending and is 16-5-4 with a 1.49GAA and .931 sv pctg.
Finally, in Bridgeport, the emerging Devon Toews tallied 4 assists last night, a club record for defensemen and continues to earn the praise of the coaching staff. As noted, he may well be the next d-man called up (after Pulock returns from conditioning) when needed. He is second on Bridgeport in scoring with 2-12-14 in 19gp.
Let's Go Islanders!
Devon Toews is the truth. I was so sick of dealing with that QU team.
While certainly far from spectacular (or acceptable, for that matter), the Islanders have played better hockey from the start of the west coast trip. No one wants to hear this because we're angry about how the team has played and been managed, but they could've easily gone 4-0 since then. Now they certainly could have just as easily gone 0-4 (or at least 0-2-2) and I'm not delusional about that, but they've been competitive.
I don't think a win tonight is too far fetched. Their last period against San Jose may have been their best all year, and their first against Calgary was right up there, too.
Let's bring it. 5 points out with a win (lol)

The underlying advanced stats continue to be abominable. Hockey advanced stats definitely have their flaws but its concerning when the team continually show up at the bottom of the league and those numbers line up with the eye test and results.

I think they were pretty good in the Sharks and Flames game, no? I know we outshot Calgary by 1, and I concede our 3rd period was abysmal in that one.

Yeah.. amazing how Prince can't buy a goal. He creates such huge opportunities and has the worst luck.
still don't understand why they don't launch from the point and get bodies in front of the net to tip/rebound.
what do I know, I'm just some schlub fan
well, shit...they have a couple of d-men who have absolute cannons. I think they are gun-shy because he broke Lee!!
Love Zeeker. Certainly always brings his game, but he seems to step up another notch against PIT.
Not a great start to 3rd.

that's a problem..when the fan base thinks they don't give a shit. THAT is when it goes from low attendance to a ghost town.

Why shake anything up? We can just sit strome again if we need to. What a fucking lost cause these guys are. GM and ownership are nowhere to be fucking found

I THINK they probably told Snow "here's your rope". They'd have to step in eventually. Had to give him a chance.
