i'm sure they wont just give him a ton of touches right off the bat but how do you guys see it going forward? I know the giants are committed to jennings and now give perkins more touches (i love his game and hes been holding his own), but I also think vereen needs to be in the game at some points. He knows where to be/what to do and i think doesn't get enough credit as to how vital he really is. I see him as a type of RB that is more valuable than his stats would suggest.
3 headed monster approach? Cause right now it seems perkins has basically taken Vereens passing down snaps.

3 headed I think is right. I bet they all get drives of their own. Vereen likely gets the vast majority of red zone snaps though.
I think Perkins fits quite nicely into that role and is a better runner and blocker, a better all around threat.
I agree. I'd like Vereen back just because he's clearly at worse the 3rd best RB on the roster but I continue to be encouraged by Perkins. I feel like with every passing week that Perkins gains some experience he's more likely to bust out one of these days. Vereen will have a place here but Perkins might have a lot more upside.

with fresh legs is a huge addition. Outside of his fumbling (probably attributed to a torn tri) this year, he is the best back on the roster but not a bell cow back.
Don't everybody cringe on the running back by committee deal. A primary reason why it didn't work last year was because Andre Williams isn't an NFL caliber running back and we were forcing touches to see if he was. Even if he was, he is the type who needs carries.
I think Vereen could even help Perkins as Perkins can watch how Vereen sets up his blockers.
Shoot for Vereen coming back in 2 weeks and get him limited but increasing reps for the next 4 games after that. If we make the playoffs (yeah, it is still if in my book - I'll feel a lot better if we beat Pittsburgh), then we may ride the hot (4) feet and there may be an odd man out.
By that time, the odd man may be Jennings as the best thing that he does is pass block and Vereen is very good at that. I would like to see some 2 back sets as I think Vereen and Perkins are much more explosive than Cruz at this point in their careers. It also throws a different look.
just to change up our look on offense a little and make defensive coordinators have to plan for something different. Enough of the 11 personnel 93% of the time!
He opens up the short passing game which can be used as a de facto run game. Getting Vereen and Pugh back is huge. I hope Jones can go this week as well, so we can see where he fits in long term.
If Jones develops, I have hope that one of him or Hart can turn into a starter, with the other becoming very solid depth. Long term, I'd still like them to sign/draft both an RG and a RT and make them both backups, which will give us enough talent to weather any injury storms. But for this season, getting these players healthy will have a huge impact.
you hear and read something to the effect of "everyone on the team practiced"
I remember before the 2011 Week 17 Dallas game and the Giants reported no injuries and everyone on the team as a full participant for practice, which was the first time all season that it happened.
Gotta believe this is to keep Vereen on track for a Dallas return

Ah no, they are going to use 3 WR's, why bother with pretense.
That is what they do, so 95% or not, that is what they do.
It's the actual play calling that needs improvement.

Agreed. In McAdoos system a patch catching back who can get 5 or more yards consistently on the little flat, screen or swing passes is huge. Those plays have been only getting 2-3 yards more often than not with Jennings.
Perkins can't block and at this point in his career is not better than Vareen at anything running, passing or signing autographs. He's got upside, but watch the games. Vareen has more rushing yards per carry and receiving yards per game; it's not close at this point.

perhaps you missed this. And from what I've seen I agree:

Vereen's role is almost as clear as Eli Manning's. On a team with a miserable run-blocking line, third and two or more is clearly Shane Vereen territory.
Divide the rest of the RB workload any way you like.
Weren't we leading the league in rushing before he went down? I know we were leading in points on the board and W-L.
I think you're being sarcastic and this might be a shot at my statement, but he did look better running the ball, and helped close out Dallas. But I think that at this point, it's clear there needs to be a running game (or a short passing game that acts as a running game). Getting Vereen back will at least give us the threat of a run(ish) game.
With how the defense has come together, the mere ability to somewhat control the clock will be huge down the stretch.
when back, will at least get attention from Ds. Maybe a pump fake on a swing pass to one side that would freeze a LB and/or secondary guy, then go to other side or deep with action initially all going the other way.
Vereens fumbles are why he was set free. To resolve issue while in NE, when he was close to getting hit or tackled, just fell down, took the touch or light hit, keeping ball and drive alive.
Do the same here.
and Vereen is the one big omission. We have upgraded our wide receivers. Our tight end is basically the same. There hasn't been significant changes in the offensive line and QB has been constant for years.
Our offensive was productive but mistake prone while Vereen was playing this year. I expect to see immediate improvement as soon as a healthy Vereen returns.
all I need to remember to know I want him back. For the offense as it stands, I'm focused on 2 things:
Keep Eli Manning upright
Involve Beckham as much as possible. Vereen is another receiving threat who can draw coverage.
This is a good thing.

This will be interesting to no one except Fresh Prince fans: I frequently call him Ben Vereen by mistake.
Why Fresh Prince? I guess I have to google and see who he played. I don't recall him. My first thought is Pippin but I would assume for most people it would be Chicken George.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he and Shane are related.

"all hands on deck" game. You know the chatter's been we need everyone back for the last 5 games. We need all 5 of these games and we will be the #1 team in the NFC. Homefield through Giants Stadium. Nobody wants to miss the Steelers game.

Don't sit there and tell me Jennings is a better player. I like Jennings, but he's just not.

If he can go full speed on Sunday, he may be activated.
Eli seems to be able to find him on 3rd down easily.

First cousin once removed per wikipedia. Weird.
