A confidant of Darrelle Revis told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News that Revis "doesn't want to play anymore."
"He's done," the confidant told Mehta. "If he had his way, he'd be done right now. He doesn't want to play anymore. He's made a lot of money." If true, it would be quite a reversal from this summer when Revis said he would play "until the wheels fall off." Well the wheels have fallen off already as the once-dominant corner has been a huge liability in the Jets' secondary this year. Revis recently admitted that he feels "old" while ESPN's Rich Cimini believes the Jets will move on from him this offseason. Revis Island is nearing its end in East Rutherford.
I guess he will have to deal with this in the media tomorrow. Let's see what his response is.
rising water levels
It's understandable

The election LOL
Career volume statistics in the NFL might start looking like Cy Youngs innings pitched totals. These guys might be willing to work their ass off and risk their health in their 20s, but less and less will be willing to risk it in their 30s if they've already made money to set them up for life and their families up for generations if they invested wisely.
But didn't want to get into trouble
How is that quite the reversal? Actually, it isn't a reversal at all.
I wasn't just listing random topics
Global warming causes rising water levels... Revis Island disappearing
I would think anyone with money to protect wouldn't be distraught by the election.
Definitely not the case here.
theres a blue pill for that

In his prime, he was one of, if not, the most complete cornerback of all time. It's sad to see his deteriorating skills this year, but it doesn't take away from his greatness. Definite HOF in my book.
Yeah, you're definitely in the minority on that take. You know being about the money doesn't make him any different from the entire NFL.
This is an insane stance. He was the best CB in football for a long time and one of the best the game has seen at his peak. He's a lock for Canton.
Reminding you - "party's over", other times he pounds on the door.

Is Eric Dickerson in the Hall? Yeah, thought so.
*mic drop*
He's made a great deal of money, he's won a championship, he's been the best at his craft.
The Giants had a fine draft that year, and Aaron Ross contributed to 2 championships, but the Jets pulled off of a hell of a trade to trade up to 14 to get Revis.
In the passing era, cornerback is almost an impossible job and Revis was incredible at it.
His 2009 in retrospect is probably the best season a CB has ever had, rules taken into consideration.
If he's not a Hall of Famer I don't know what is.

Yea, that was a power move to get up there. Just looking into it now, both teams did really well from that trade.
The Jets traded Carolina, 25th, 59th and 164th overall, and 25/59 got them Beason and Ryan Kalil.
Carolina traded the Jets 14 (Revis), and 191.
The 191 pick they packaged along with their other 2nd round pick (63) and their 3rd rounder (89) to Green Bay for David Harris (47th overall).
Interesting.
He's not that good anymore.
I think Leon Hall went before Ross too.
Extremely hard worker dedicated to his craft every week. Definitely a candidate for total burn out, so I give credence to this story.
I was thinking that too a few weeks ago but man, Revis really looks cooked out there. FS and CB are two different animals so maybe Revis could extend his career and even flourish in the new role but I don't know. I am sure he has the instincts needed but the guy can't move or hit or do much of anything anymore. Talk about falling off a cliff he went from great to very good with the Pats, to good last year with the Jets to garbage.
