Later pick forfeiture but apparently only for teams over the threshold. Hard cap for IFA, likely similar to the draft pools. Luxury tax has a second tier for teams that go way over, and it'll be 90%. Link - ( New Window )
The comp pick issue might actually mean that the losing team gets the forfeited picks, or picks in that round range, rather than picks at the end of Round 1.
but i would have liked to have seen both sides agree to more (weeknights) days off and fewer overall games (to 144). Do we really need our teams playing every monday and tuesday nights? Sans PEDs, players have shown they can't handle this workload.
Also would have liked to have seen shorter gameday rosters but with an inactives like the NFL and NHL have it - say 20 man teams on gameday with 5-6 inactives (usually the 4 other starting pitchers + another player or two)
{quote]Teams that lose a free agent who rejects a qualifying offer will still get a draft pick. The details: For most teams, that pick would be a sandwich pick immediately following the competitive-balance picks that are awarded after the second round. However, if that team comes from the 15 smallest markets and is receiving revenue-sharing money, and it loses a free agent who signs a contract worth at least $50 million, that pick would follow the first round. And if the team losing that player is over the luxury-tax threshold, the pick would follow the fourth round.[/quote] Link - ( New Window )
Free Agents signing left and right!
Rather, no first round forfeiture. Likely a lesser pick.

And will go into effect NEXT year.
And will go into effect NEXT year.
VERY bad for Mets.

Why's that? The Mets aren't likely to be over the lux tax threshold so they'd only give up a 3rd for anyone FA that they sign.
Are we sure about that? Only thing confirmed is what teams will give up to sign a QO guy.

But as always money talks i guess.
The ASG change is a long needed one.
