NFT: Leslie Mann vs Kirstie Alley--comedy chops?

Milton : 12/1/2016 3:17 pm
Leslie Mann in The Other Woman

Kirstie Alley in Deconstructing Harry

p.s.-- The Other Woman is a really, really bad movie that I got stuck watching, this is not a recommendation. On the other hand, if you haven't seen Deconstructing Harry, it's hilarious. It's probably my favorite of all his post-1990 movies. And now that I think of it, the Woodman turned 81 today.
At least Kate Upton is in the Other Woman

I've never found Kirstie Alley funny in any way

not even on Cheers, where an inanimate carbon rod could probably pull some laughs.

I kind of agree. She has been in some very funny things but she isn't really very funny herself.

Maybe she had a great agent.
Scientology worked for her, that's for damn sure.

I might be in the minority here but that show took a serious nose dive when Shelley Long left. It helped that she and Ted Danson hated each other.

Also, I always thought Leslie Mann's best comedy was:

Cheers also quite a record of careers post show ending (poor Shelley Long). Danson went on to multiple successful shows, Woody Harrelson, Frasier is one of the biggest sitcoms ever, Ratzenberg is a major player in voice over work (he's worth a reported 80 million...). Considering the post sitcom fates of other successful shows, very impressive
Wow Diaz sure looks different

I thought it declined somewhat (losing Long and Colasanto so quickly would be rough for any show), but I thought they had a few good seasons. The Rebecca character was like nails on chalkboard, though. She apparently didn't get along with any of the cast members, in particular Kelsey Grammer who made it a point that she was the only ex-Cheers regular to not appear on his show.
Kirstie Alley was funny enough

but Leslie Mann, oh my God, she kills me.
Funny ears. Pass.

Wait! Her ears are FUNNY. She wins.
Leslie Mann's voice

Is one of a kind annoyingly annoying. Did I mention her voice is annoying? Instant migraine!
Even in bad movies..

Leslie Mann is funnier than Kirstie Alley ever was. Have to say, I've never found her funny at all

There was a comment about Leslie Mann on Facebook (because of the movie "The Comedian" which just came out) and it reminded me of her performance in "The Other Woman" which got me thinking about scenes from other movies in which a woman shined in a dramatic/comedic role. And then I figured why not share these two examples with my friend on BBI. Everyone can use a good laugh.
