December 1st and we're still in the division hunt? It's been too long.
How about 3/4 of our division is still in it. We knew we would get back to the playoffs eventually, but Dallas, Wash are both really good teams as well.
Minnesota has the horses to stop Elliott. Should be an interesting game.
Teams have been running for like 130 yards on nearly 5 yards a carry since their undefeated streak end. That includes the likes of Theo Riddick and Rob Kelley.
the W/L record is a bit of a mirage though, imo. It's time they lost a close one. I'm calling it here - lose this week and then again next week on the road. Get fired up, shake it off as a bad road trip (the Giants had one early in the year) and claims that it actually will help them in the playoffs, only to lose to TB the week after that.
good feeling that minny brings cowboys down a notch tonight
Scenario 1: (We win 4 or 5 of our remaining games 1 being the cowboys) Even if the cowboys win tonight we can still catch them! They just have to lose 1 of their other games.
Scenario 2: (We win 2 or 3 of our remaining game) Chances are we don't win the division, and at 10-6 or 11-5 we are competing with the skins, lions/vikings, packers, and the bucs. (I am not considering the eagles because even if they win out and beat us to get to 10-6 they will prob have a worse division record. Not counting the saints because even if they win out and get to 10-6 we beat them head to head)
If the cowboys win tonight scenario 1 is slightly effected, but scenario 2 is very effected because Vikings beat us head to head and we take a big hit in our wildcard chances. Let the cowboys lose to someones else to keep our division hopes alive...
I don't understand why the NFL even has games on Thursday night. I'm losing my interest in the NFL because there's too many games on TV and the games all suck and why is there football on Thursday night instead of Sunday when all the games are always good and interesting and competitive because it's Sunday?

They got lit up by Jordan Howard and garbage time stats from David Johnson. Kelley had 97 yards on 22 carries. Riddick didn't do shit.
Sharif Floyd being hurts doesn't help but I still think they have the front 7 and scheme to minimize the Cowboys damage on the ground.
Granted they most likely dominate TOP and keep the defense fresh but I feel one of the biggest reasons is Sean Lee being healthy and having a great season .

Sorry, man. i've been listening to Sirius NFL radio all day and hearing people complain about it.
Is that possession on the ground is reviewable? It's a first. I guess it is. Did he gain the ball back, yes, but traditionally possession is awarded to who comes up with the ball out of a pile

No. The turnover is reviewable by rule. It's automatic.
This is not a new rule.
Most scrums you can't see a player with clear possession and down by contact. This one you could.
that Dallas is about to hit a rough spot these next 2 weeks and we will see how much they believe in Dak before they panic and go to Romo.
They've yet to face adversity since Romo going down...a veeery long time. Will they or not anymore is the question
Honestly, since the Washington game last week, what I think will happen is they will lose an ugly game here in Minnesota and they will walk into a buzzsaw vs the Giants and lose convincingly. Once that happens, you will see them at 10-3 and panic will start.
Say what you will about the O line, but he's independently terrific. Good thing that run got called back. Also good thing that this kid plays RB and unless he's a total freak we will only have to worry about him for so long.
By the end of this year he's already going to have 1,000 carries between Ohio state and the cowboys. He already entered with a lot of mileage and at this rate is going to fly past 350 carries in his rookie year. That's a threshold that more often than not spells decline in the following season. We think of Marshawn Lynch as having been a work horse as much as anyone in the current era, his career high was 315. Adrian peterson crossed that 350 mark once, and the next season had his worst YPC of any of his non injury shortened seasons in his career. Elliot is a rookie though so I doubt he's suddenly going to fall off a cliff, but he's unlikely to be a major difference maker for all that long unless he is just a rare breed

Not to mention Roid rage beating up his girlfriend?
It sure how that's relevant to anything I posted? I never made the case he was a model citizen. The only time I've ever gotten combative with another poster on this site was over the Josh Brown issue toward an individual who I felt took the situation lightly. Domestic abusers are assholes, and Elliot is one too if guilty. Doesn't have anything to do with his performance though, plenty of assholes are major difference makers
Bradford stinks. I can't believe they gave the eagles a 1st round pick for this shlub. I just wanna watch dallas lose and the giants play them with 1st place on the line
even the fucking ball bounces perfect for dallas. the stars are aligning lol. I HATE THE COWBOYS, but right now they are looking solid. How did our guys give up points to the vikings they are awful offensively
are the most complete team I have seen in several years. They simply don't have any weaknesses.
I think they do. I would still worry about a rookie qb on the biggest of stages for one. Also, you can throw on them, they have no pass rush and their dbs aren't really playmakers. According to pro football reference, opposing QBs have 19 TD and only 4 INT this season against them, and their sack leader has 3.5.
They're good, but I don't think they're overly imposing as far as typical SB favorites to. Let's also see how this team deals with an L to stop this feel-good train rolling down hill they have going. They don't have a culture of excellence to fall back on with this current group, and adversity can play with a team.
Didn't they go 15-1 when Ben was a rookie, or am I off by a game? Both strong running games, Pitt had a better D. Somebody is going to go in their house and beat them in the playoffs. And it's probably going to be an undressing of Prescott in the process by a team who isn't going to be net over blindly by their running game and force it into his hands. He has been very good, but he's human and he's a rookie and winning a SB is not how this works unless he's setting a new precedent
Fall in love with Dallas... Other than a few runs early on I haven't seen anything to make me think we won't crush them next week, I'm more worried about playing Steelers and the Cowboys.
Same here. I'm more worried about this week because it's a road game against a team we rarely play. Dallas is good, but they're not as imposing as 07 to me
when they can't run at will. They don't look so frightening, and the Defense is not very good. They have the plan to win. Make Dallas 1 dimensional. They just can't muster any offense. If Minny was up by 10 - 14 points, i'd be curious to see dallas play from behind.
How we lost to this team. Our D line has made some tremendous strides throughout the season. If we played MIN now I don't see how they crack 10 points.
This team is so fucking bad. They've bottled up zeke, had a couple of forced fumbles, had an int on Bradford called back, had a bunch of dallas penalties on defense and they've still mustered 3 points at home against a mediocre at best defense.
Fall in love with Dallas... Other than a few runs early on I haven't seen anything to make me think we won't crush them next week, I'm more worried about playing Steelers and the Cowboys.

I'm 100% with you. I LOVE how we matchup with them. I just don't like how MIN, Philly and Detroit matchup with them. TB has a good chance of slowing the run game but in a shootout in dallas I think it's 50/50 at absolute best.
A free agent next season? Or did Minny re-up with him long term? Would love to have him instead of Dwayne Harris.. Loved him coming out of Tennessee but he hasn't bee the 'receiver' I thought he can be but he still is a incredible play maker, ridiculous with the ball in his hands.

I don't know what's going on with Harris this year. Last year he showed some promise as a WR. Now he's completely phased out. I guess if you can get Patterson for cheap it's worth a shot although he's an absolutely horrible WR. I feel like he's going to get what we gave Harris at the minimum.
I am not watching the game but its like 7-3 My guess is there
is no possibility of the Vikings scoring another point ?
Maybe they hold them here and get a nice punt return ...
Hoping anything to make them play 60 minutes Starters that is .
offense - particularly the passing game- was humming, i wouldn't lose a min. sleep over dallas. G-men can stop the run and play defense well enough, and i have yet to see dallas play from behind or not on their terms
the tendency of Giants "fans" to consistently overinflate the Cowboys.
The difference in this game has been one blown play.
The Cowboys have no weaknesses? Are you fucking kidding me? The defense this season has been pedestrian on it's best day.
I don't know anyone saying this dallas team is flawless. It's just that there aren't many good defenses in the NFC so who is got a chance of stopping them? Minnesota is stuffing them but can't put offense together to do so. The Ravens have the best run D in the league but couldn't stop zeke. I like the Giants though. At least Eli can pick apart this defense unlike flacco or Bradford.
I think Dak is going to have a great career but a rookie Dak in the playoffs? Yeah I'll take our chances against that, even in dallas.

Giant fans overrate Dallas? The whole hemisphere hangs on the Cowboys, who haven't made it to even the NFC title game in 20 years. Tonight it's more a question of how helpless Minny looks against a Dallas D stilled looked at as mediocre.

The Vikings can run the ball. Bradford is 19/26. The run and play action is there.
and we lost to them. If you remember, when we played them they were in on Eli so fast he was throwing the ball into the turf intentionally after a two step drop.
We watched the Packers look like shit too and they man handled us.
So, the bottom line is you cannot watch two other teams play one another and then draw conclusions as to whether the Giants should beat them based upon that.
IMO. He often escapes pressure but when he decides to sit in the pocket I feel like he doesn't sense pressure all that well. Maybe he's just accustomed to having plenty of time. Noticed it a lot in the eagles game. Philly didn't really get to him but it seemed like he got the ball out just at the right time. Couldn't tell if he had amazing awareness or absolutely no clue.

they've shown the Giants a template for beating the Cowboys. And they're not doing anything on defense the Giants can't do.
Giants have been the only team to contain Elliot this season. I guess it been so long ago that people have forgotten. Nat Berhe had Zeke peeking around his blocks because he was getting lit up so hard. Then the NFL went to test Berhe immediately after the game.
they've shown the Giants a template for beating the Cowboys. And they're not doing anything on defense the Giants can't do.
Big difference between Harrison Smith and Andrew Adams.
Speaking of weak links named Adam... Jeez, Thielen. And now another special teams screw-up on the kick return puts Bradford in a deep hole.
The Giants already have a template -- physical
front 4 on defense that can stop the run and rush the passer. And our front 4 is playing better now than they did in week 1 when the Giants win.
Over the next 5. The rest will take care of itself. Division looks to be Dallas's now. They would have to have a massive collapse over the last 4 for them; which doesn't look possible.
Going into this I thought the Vikings had an easy remaining schedule.
Apparently there was a philosophical difference about how to fix the faltering offense.Turner was not willing to comply and recognized Zimmer's authority, and quit. Maybe Norv was right...
No..fuck the Giants for losing to this Vikings team.
That was a totally different Vikings team then. They were 5 and 0 and looked to be favorites in the NFC; that's how good they looked. We also had them on the first nationally televised game in their new stadium and they were pumped. It was a lot to overcome then. It's not who you play, but when you play them.
With that said, I hate this Dallass team! They look good.

Whatever man.. we controlled our own destiny. WE blew it so we can't sit here and be pissed off at other teams because they will not take care of their own business either.
Bottom line, we had at least 2 games we could have won and we didn't. We could be one game apart from Dallas going into our game with them next week.
But got blown out of the building. They suck so bad!!! Offensively at least
Not sure if everyone remembers what our offense looked like that day. We had to lineup two guys in the backfield flanking Eli for additional protection to make sure he did not get killed.
RE: Unbelievable that the Giants not only lost to this team
Not if the Giants keep playing special teams they way they have the last 4 games.
Dallas basically won the game on that side of the ball tonight with the fumble on the punt and the poor punt that gave them the field position to kick the FG go up 8. Plus, they have a FG kicker who almost never misses.
1st and 10 is better than 2nd and 1 or 2 in that situation
That's why it's not a stupid challenge. And it was 3rd down, not 2nd.
I said I got the down wrong so my bad. But if it is second down, it is a terrible challenge in that situation . So i was wrong about he down, but still completely standby if it is second down it is a terrible challenge in that situation. If it's 3rd down which it was, it was right call

I think you may be wrong. You cannot let Dallas have more downs to run the clock out. I get that it makes it 3rd and 1 but that is better than first down.

I guess if the Green Bay game they hosted two weeks prior on SNF doesn't count this post about national Tv would help.
I think Bradford is awful. It's fitting they featured the Herschel trade tonight because that Bradford gift they gave the Eagles was a close second and hopefully it doesn't win Philly their coveted title. When he overthrew Johnson last drive was one of the more unprofessional series from a veteran I've ever seen. Can he score 8 points here? Hopefully but really doubt it
how frustrating. What is unfortunate is that I think the Giants are going to bury these guys next week, but it won't matter, the division is out of reach.
...but for one long pass to Bryant, I think he outperformed Prescott.
Me too. His receivers and TE are garbage. Dropping passes and running shitty routes. He's got three guys (McKinnon, Thielen, and Diggs) he can rely on, none of whom are enough.
should be fired. How do you miss a hit to the head and a face mask penalty?
NFL sucks - they keep these shitstain officials around year after year, making mistake after mistake. Same asswipe officials, guaranteed to make blatant bad calls every game.

Excuse me I should have said Monday Night Football.....the point was more about not who you play but when you play them. Vikings are clearly not the same team they were when we played them.

Come on. I know there are a lot of good posters that say this, but as a fan, how tf do you give up on the division like that? My schedule shows Dallas has 4 games to play, one against us, and we are 2 games back and will own the toebreaker with a win against them in 10 days. As long as the Giants keep winnimg and we are not mathematically eliminated, I will have some faith they can still get this division.

Yes and I think Dallas looked vulnerable tonight...
Michael Irvin makes me physically ill with his Cowboys cheerleading
Thought tonight was greatest chance for loss..but guess I was wrong. They just find all different ways to win..incredible
Not sure this makes sense. They have the Giants Bucs Lions and Eagles...All but the Eagles had the same record as the Vikings or better coming into this game.

Did you see his dropping a TD? They would have won if he makes that catch in the endzone. Not saying he's worse than ours, but he's not a game changer.
Statistically, Dallas had fewer yards on offense and possessed the ball for only 26-27 minutes, but came up 2 points on the right side of the scoreboard.
If the Giants won the game last night, you can bet instead of gloating about getting a road win in Minny, we'd be told that the offense is broken and that outside of a blown coverage, we'd have lost. And instead of dismissing the blow to the head, we'd be told how the refs gifted us the win.
They really need to get rid of these Thursday games
Teams just dont have enough time to recover from the games on Sunday and it shows by the play on the field. Of course Dallas would get extra rest for their Thursday night game, but both teams looked like shit last night.

My bad forgot the Vikes played on Thanksgiving too.
Dallas doesn't matchup well with defensive fronts that can stop the run. Week 1 and last night proved that. They also struggled with Philly who has a pretty good front.
The Giants matchup very well with Dallas. Play a clean game and the Giants win. Again.

I hope that's the case, the concerning thing is dallas seems to do whatever they need to win at this point.
And with a rookie head coach, no less. They're doing much better than I had expected.
Please limit Elliott as best you can!
How about 3/4 of our division is still in it. We knew we would get back to the playoffs eventually, but Dallas, Wash are both really good teams as well.

True, but it is having a negative impact on me professionally. Hard to focus!!
Good thing is either way it helps the Giants.

In this matchup? Oh yeah. Minnesota I'd argue is one of the worst 10 football teams in the NFL right now and they don't even matchup well to dallas.

Uh oh, call coming in from Blandino. Get ready for some ass fuckin'.
Is Bill Leavy the replay official?
This is the Vikings game though, field position and swarming D
All turnovers are reviewed automatically
Cant remember seeing something like this before... Whoever comes up with the ball gets it!!!
By rule, all turnovers are reviewed.
They reviewed it and the review clearly shows EE recovered.
Hate Dallas as much as anyone, but that was the right call.
what you are looking at.
Makes me wonder how you justify criticizing the officials if you can't process an obvious call.

What constitutes "recovery" of the ball? In fumbles its usually who comes out with it

EE made clear recovery and was being touched. That is the definition of being down by contact.
Normally you don't get a clear view of such a thing so the call on the field stands.
This was clear as day.
They made the right call
They've yet to face adversity since Romo going down...a veeery long time. Will they or not anymore is the question

In this matchup? Oh yeah. Minnesota I'd argue is one of the worst 10 football teams in the NFL right now and they don't even matchup well to dallas.
Spread's like 3. So much talk making this game seem like an obvious blowout, I'm guessing you bet everything you had.
Yup and Romo will come in and torch us.
No. The turnover is reviewable by rule. It's automatic.
This is not a new rule.
Most scrums you can't see a player with clear possession and down by contact. This one you could.
This is not that difficult.

that Dallas is about to hit a rough spot these next 2 weeks and we will see how much they believe in Dak before they panic and go to Romo.

Honestly, since the Washington game last week, what I think will happen is they will lose an ugly game here in Minnesota and they will walk into a buzzsaw vs the Giants and lose convincingly. Once that happens, you will see them at 10-3 and panic will start.
No kidding. Also it was right at the point of attack, so everyone could see it spring the entire play ...
1990s Cowboys. That OL > 2016 OL.
_Dean Blandino

Not to mention Roid rage beating up his girlfriend?
and then run about 6 minutes off on their next possession.

Except for the Giants!
You forgot Dean Blandino
I am not seeing it that way. The vikings are doing fine, one bad play ...
I am not seeing that. The defense is not strong at all.
And a fourth.
Cowboys have been getting lucky all year as far as injuries are concerned.

Yeah...and look how that lucked out for them.
Don't they have any plays that can gain more than eight yards?
And these Vikes hung the most embarrassing, dominating defeat on the Giants that the Giants had suffered in a long time.
Better.
This team is so fucking bad. They've bottled up zeke, had a couple of forced fumbles, had an int on Bradford called back, had a bunch of dallas penalties on defense and they've still mustered 3 points at home against a mediocre at best defense.
+1
I'm 100% with you. I LOVE how we matchup with them. I just don't like how MIN, Philly and Detroit matchup with them. TB has a good chance of slowing the run game but in a shootout in dallas I think it's 50/50 at absolute best.
yes...he looks terrific
I don't know what's going on with Harris this year. Last year he showed some promise as a WR. Now he's completely phased out. I guess if you can get Patterson for cheap it's worth a shot although he's an absolutely horrible WR. I feel like he's going to get what we gave Harris at the minimum.
The difference in this game has been one blown play.
The Cowboys have no weaknesses? Are you fucking kidding me? The defense this season has been pedestrian on it's best day.
is no possibility of the Vikings scoring another point ?
Maybe they hold them here and get a nice punt return ...
Hoping anything to make them play 60 minutes Starters that is .
defense in every way ...

We watched the Packers look like shit too and they man handled us.
So, the bottom line is you cannot watch two other teams play one another and then draw conclusions as to whether the Giants should beat them based upon that.

2nd Best was Summertime Dream Tour at SPAC it was maybe the
best show I saw with GL .
No chsnce minny keeps this.
Giants have been the only team to contain Elliot this season. I guess it been so long ago that people have forgotten. Nat Berhe had Zeke peeking around his blocks because he was getting lit up so hard. Then the NFL went to test Berhe immediately after the game.

not at all..but this isnt a giants thread, we need the vikes to win and they are blowing it in tremendous fashion, so people are mad...
Big difference between Harrison Smith and Andrew Adams.
Speaking of weak links named Adam... Jeez, Thielen. And now another special teams screw-up on the kick return puts Bradford in a deep hole.
Giants have been muffing a number of punts this year. I'm fearing next week this situation happens to cost us big time if we are outplaying them.
Just WTF does that mean? A useless comment.
Might not have mattered but just sayin...
Very similar to Pats 2 pt conversion against the Jets this past week which was overturned after review.
Except cover Jason Witten, of course.

they've shown the Giants a template for beating the Cowboys. And they're not doing anything on defense the Giants can't do.

The Giants already have a template -- physical
front 4 on defense that can stop the run and rush the passer. And our front 4 is playing better now than they did in week 1 when the Giants win.
Jesus christ
No..fuck the Giants for losing to this Vikings team.
how was that not OPI? How was it not illegal touching? he stepped out of bounds then touched the ball...

Holy fuckballs. One of the worst trades I ever saw.
Forget what I just said

Whatever man.. we controlled our own destiny. WE blew it so we can't sit here and be pissed off at other teams because they will not take care of their own business either.
Bottom line, we had at least 2 games we could have won and we didn't. We could be one game apart from Dallas going into our game with them next week.
And he was basically 5 yards down the field before he was out of the pocket
Not sure if everyone remembers what our offense looked like that day. We had to lineup two guys in the backfield flanking Eli for additional protection to make sure he did not get killed.
14 points is a blow out?
also it was 7 pt game going into the 4th
No one has Blown Us Out this year. but don't let facts get in your way?
I thought it was first down, I was wrong
Not if the Giants keep playing special teams they way they have the last 4 games.
Dallas basically won the game on that side of the ball tonight with the fumble on the punt and the poor punt that gave them the field position to kick the FG go up 8. Plus, they have a FG kicker who almost never misses.
We need to clean that up big time.
Only team that didn't was NYG. Vikings were dreadful tonight.
That's why it's not a stupid challenge. And it was 3rd down, not 2nd.
traded another timeout for 20 sec

I said I got the down wrong so my bad. But if it is second down, it is a terrible challenge in that situation . So i was wrong about he down, but still completely standby if it is second down it is a terrible challenge in that situation. If it's 3rd down which it was, it was right call
Nice Post Dude
Oh should have taken that Bet.

I think you may be wrong. You cannot let Dallas have more downs to run the clock out. I get that it makes it 3rd and 1 but that is better than first down.
Seriously. I love how CC blames the center and then doesn't correct himself when the next replay clearly shows the ball get to his hands.

Hopefully but really doubt it
If the next down is 3rd and 1 , you should challenge it.
If the next down would be 2nd and 1, you should NOT challenge it
It would have been 3rd and 1, so challenge was right call

2. uncatchable throw
3. another no-call on dallas for blow to the head
awesome.

NBC is officially disappointed that the Cowboys-Giants Sunday Night game will not be for the division.
They get the Michael Jordan benefit call
His hand may have ended up contacting the helmet but it was not a blow.
Me too. His receivers and TE are garbage. Dropping passes and running shitty routes. He's got three guys (McKinnon, Thielen, and Diggs) he can rely on, none of whom are enough.
NFL sucks - they keep these shitstain officials around year after year, making mistake after mistake. Same asswipe officials, guaranteed to make blatant bad calls every game.

Still a penalty.
They have to hurry up and shower though, the Cowboys party bus leaves 30 minutes after the game is over.

agree, TB is no walkover

TE, garbage? You wouldn't like Rudolph at this stage for any ours?
Did you see his dropping a TD? They would have won if he makes that catch in the endzone. Not saying he's worse than ours, but he's not a game changer.
You beat Dallas by getting up early and forcing them out of their shell offensively.
Normally I would agree, but the refs actually made at least 4 holding calls on Dallas in this game, surprising!
you expect a crackhead to act professionally?
...the way we've won so many games this year?
Statistically, Dallas had fewer yards on offense and possessed the ball for only 26-27 minutes, but came up 2 points on the right side of the scoreboard.
Nobody in the NFC worries me except Seattle at home. I want the division and home field advantage but we're running out of time.

My bad forgot the Vikes played on Thanksgiving too.
...are the best team in the NFL.
They have the best record and they have the best +/- point differential.
Until someone has a better record than Dallas, or until someone bumps them off in the playoffs, they are the NFL's best.
