Here We Go Giants Here We Go Chant

GiantsGorilla1980s : 12/2/2016 6:24 pm
this use to be the chant most of us Giant fans would do back in the 80s however i do not think i have heard it chanted in over 25 years. i remember being at game and trying to start this chant a few years ago and the people in my section looked at me like i had three heads. reason i am bringing this blast from the past up is we are playing the Steelers this week and here we go Steelers here we go, is a popular chant among steeler fans
Those guys all got too old - now they just quietly chant
jcn56 : 12/2/2016 6:26 pm : link
'down in front'.
That's the chant we used when WE were leaving the stadium
Marty in Albany : 12/2/2016 6:43 pm : link
in the 4th Q. when the Giants were losing big.
Maybe you should become a steeler fan
Larry in Pencilvania : 12/2/2016 6:50 pm : link
Just sayin

Oh and DOWN IN FRONT
My dad is a rabid Giants fan in his 60s
DC Gmen Fan : 12/2/2016 6:53 pm : link
he's at most every training camp, and most games. He is on his feet most of the game yelling D-Fense and Here We Go GIants chants.

He yells "Down in front" but it is when people decide to stand up to go to the aisle in the middle of a play.

They guy is die-hard Gmen and bleeds blue.
That chant is sadly long gone
Matt in SGS : 12/2/2016 6:54 pm : link
and I remember it well going to the games. No more cowbell or air horns in the stands. I"m 42, so I don't think I'm a "down in front-er" yet, but we've talked on BBI how the in game experience is no longer the same. Even the simple gesture as a fan to not get up in the middle of a play to walk down the aisle, or to kneel in the stairwell during a play to wait for it to end before coming to your seat. People just get up and wander around as the play is happening and it drives me crazy. Attention spans can't say into the game long enough, and PSLs have driven away many die hards.

The NFL has tried to make the in game experience the same everywhere. The same music. The same commercials. Even the same stupid "Iiiiiiiiitttsssss Thirrrrddddd Down!" thing I've heard on TV at other games. It is what it is.
If the TV broadcast duplicated what the stadium fans are subjected to
Marty in Albany : 12/2/2016 7:21 pm : link
everyone would mute their sets. Holding a conversation during a game is worse than trying to talk in the subway. Perhaps they are trying to entertain those people in the stadium who DON'T like football but were dragged along to the game.
Chant was loudly heard in Cleveland last weekend

WTF you guys talking about?
Can't remember the last time I heard a "Defense"
Dave in Hoboken : 12/2/2016 7:25 pm : link
chant, either. Not just at Giants Stadium, but around the league.
I remember in the 70's
Cruzin : 12/2/2016 7:58 pm : link

We'd hit the bathrooms looking for the good doobage or qualudes just to get through the second half of another blowout.

Now we head to the restroom looking for the Flomax.

I didn't pay all this money to see your fat ass in my face instead of the play and I'm trying to listen to the radio broadcast so sit the phuck down and shut up!
OH, and

The good doobage, and entertainment was on the turnstiles!
Remember that chant well

Loved that stadium. That chant, the National Anthem was sung by most in the stands, The section near 334 (my section) which spelled out G I A N T S after a TD. As the team got better the next section would do it then the next......
This....

Love games from the 80s and the air horns blaring from the crowd
One of the things I miss the most from the old days
NikkiMac : 12/3/2016 7:42 am : link
Is in the playoffs every game I can remember When they used to do the calling out the names of either the defense or offense one by one as they come out of the tunnel

I can remember Pat Summerall saying from N.Carolina number 56 playing left outside linebacker Lawrence Taylor ! and so on ..... I miss that now they don't do it like that let alone show it until the super bowl where now they just welcome the whole team and coaching staff comes running out of the tunnel ..... boring ....... and this is not done anymore to make room for other stupid shit and commercials !!!!
Always loved that chant...
KingBlue : 12/3/2016 7:58 am : link
Always fun to participate in the chant during the games... but some of my fondest memories of the chant were in December... heading into a big game on a cold, dreary, gray, misty afternoon...riding the escalator to the upper deck...the chant would break out with great enthusiasm and excitement ... Here we Go Giants, Here we go... Let's go Giants!

Man, those were great times.
Dee-Fense!

Dee-Fense! Dee-Fense!

That's the chant I want back. I understand why we haven't heard it in years but it's time.
Umm...How many of you actually go to games?
Scyber : 12/3/2016 9:38 am : link
Cause I hear these chants at almost every game I go to.

You beat me to it. I sit in the mezz. End zone and every single one of these chants I hear almost every game.AND LOUDLY. Do you people actually go to the games or are you judging by what you hear on TV which is filtered. If you go, where the heck do you sit? Very glad I don't sit near your sections. Sounds like a total bore and yes, I am in that "down in front" age group and come home with no voice each game.
Everybody just looks at their I-phones between plays

Not just playoffs, that was every game. I definitely miss that
I heard it going into the stadium at the Ravens
bradshaw44 : 12/3/2016 10:25 am : link
Game but never in the stadium. I go to one game per year and it's more of a chant you here in the concourse or bathroom.
Not introducing players
redwhiteandbigblue : 12/3/2016 11:18 am : link
Individually during regular season games had nothing to do with time for commercials as the Intro's were rarely televised (playoff game intro's were televised). The trend to introduce the entire team rather than individual players was started by the Patriots during the 2007 playoff run. It was supposed to represent "TEAM" unity as opposed to individuals. During the next season, more and more teams adopted the practice to the point where a year later it was standard in the NFL. I believe it started as a choice made by the teams not the NFL. I agree, I miss it too. It used to get the crowd juiced much more than the current practice. Still remember Jesse Armstead coming out of the tunnel running and jumping like a wild man.
Earlier this year
ThatLimerickGuy : 12/3/2016 11:25 am : link
I remember hearing loudly the "Let's go Giants. Clap Clap ClapClapClap chant." a few times like it was a Yankee game. Felt a little weird

And the ramps leading up to the seats. Our voices reverberated off the structure. Enjoy Pitt and represent our G-Men in victory.
I only remember the "Beer here" chant.
ed90631 : 12/3/2016 4:28 pm : link
it was never very organized, every once in a while a solitary fan would stand up, wave his finger in the air and yell "Beer Here!"

I dont think it was really inspiring since they used to lose alot in those days.

Never heard the "down in front" chant. Nobody got that exited.
Quit your bitching old people

Agree. You still hear it all the time at the games, especially on the elevators going in.

I hope to DD! Not too many Giants fans in town though. There are a few, but hopefully we can cheer at the end of the game. It's cold up here, hope our defense rules the day.
