NCAAF Conference Championship Weekend

odunde : 12/2/2016 6:26 pm
I figured I'd get things started, since my Huskies are just a few hours from kickoff.... Seems likely that we win and we're in the playoff, but I'm worried about Colorado's dual threat qb and secondary managing an upset...

Then again, if UW doesn't beat them, they don't deserve to make it....

Nice job Wisconsin

Lose to Pedo State.
Chryst

called a timeout so he could run the ball.

Effectiveluy ending the game if he didn't get it.

Makes no sense, everyone knew what the play call would be, get up to the line and run it
the third place big 10 game

Turned out to be exciting at least.

Wisconsin outscored 31-3 to end game. Choke job.

You think jump michigan? Word was the distance between 5 and 6/7 was quite large. 40 point loss hangs large now.

They are not putting a 2 loss Michigan in over a 2 loss Penn State when one didn't even make the conference title game never mind win it, they might as well get rid of the championship gmaes if they do that.

Ohio State they can do it with, only lost 1 game and it was on the road.

Then the committee should not have put michigan 5 then. Big 10 setup is a joke anyways. If it led to changes then that's a good thing. Wisconsin makes the title gsme despite not beating penn state, michigan, or Ohio st? When you have a conference title game, where teams don't play 4 conference opponent, how legitimate is the conference?
How about PITT
B in ALB : 12/3/2016 11:50 pm : link
Beating both Clemson and Pedo State?
Penn State
BigBlueDownTheShore : 12/3/2016 11:54 pm : link
Will jump Michigan. I hope they put Penn state in (I hate Penn state), but teams change over the season. Ohio State has been playing shitty the past few weeks, lost to Penn State. Penn State lost to Pitt the first week of the season and then to a good Michigan team. Pitt is a descent team too.

Ohio State is the best win by any team this year? Huh? At home? And they won on a fluke blocked kick scoop and score.

Ohio State destroying Oklahoma in Norman was a more impressive win, on the road.

Plus Washington beating a top 10 decisively is going to boost them.

Penn state is going to the rose bowl against USC. Michigan is going to the orange bowl against FSU. Wisconsin is going to whogivesaratass bowl.

Destroyed a good Colorado team, won their conference. Penn State did not do anything this week more impressive than what Washington did this week, and Washington has 1 less loss and was 3 spots ahead of them going into this week

Then does penn state have one of the worst losses too? Losing by 40 and they were fortunate enough it was only that?
I think Ohio State needs to be out
BigBlueDownTheShore : 12/4/2016 12:12 am : link
How can you be a national champion without winning your conference. Yes I know Bama has done it, but it's one of the major reasons they moved to a Playoff. Penn State beat them and they a way hitter team right now. Ohio State is on the downside.
You
jamesmichaelworm : 12/4/2016 12:12 am : link
Do realize penn state was missing a ton of players on defense and offense for that game. And yes committee looks at that too via Colorado losing their qb
so a win against the #2 team
MookGiants : 12/4/2016 12:12 am : link
at home is a better win than an absolute beatdown of the #5 (assuming that's where PSU winds up) team?

If all you're saying is they beat the highest ranked team of all of them, fine, but i wouldn't call it the best or most impressive win. What Michigan did to PSU was more impressive no matter what way you look at it

Washingtons has 2 signature wins 1 against Colorado and 1 against a multiple loss USC team. That's why.

Out of conference scheduling The SEC out of conference scheduling is a complete joke year after year and yet they usually have multiple top 10 teams.

simply has a better resume than Penn State. I'd rather PSU in it than OSU, but OSU has a better resume. They lost 1 game, on the road, on a fluke play. They still finished 11-1, won in Madison.

I don't agree with PSU being the "way hotter" team right now. Indiana pissed that game in Bloomington away, the scoreboard shows a 15+ point or whatever it was win, but it was a 4 point game with 3 minutes to go and Indiana had the ball, and that was despite Indiana turning it over 4 times, and I believe 2 of them inside their own 20 yard line.

I hate both teams with a passion, so I don't have a bias towards one or the other, but OSU's resume is just better imo. 1 less loss is a much bigger deal than you're making it out to be.
if michigan hadn't loss to iowa
dep026 : 12/4/2016 12:17 am : link
Washington would be out. But you can't keep a 1 loss team conference winner out over a 2 loss conference champ who more than likely is still the 3rd best team in their conference.

Washington lost to USC.

USC is very, very good right now. Darnold changed that team. I'd favor USC to beat any of the playoff teams on a neutral field right now besides Bama. But they aren't getting there because they were awful to start when Max Browne started

They should have shut the program down. Not the kids fault, but should have let them transfer. Many people there still don't get it and some of them even frequent BBi.

I never liked them before the abuse came out, but they still love and are a better team then OSU.
Well, ok.

That's an awful position to take. You need to rethink that.

This. Also an alum here, and it's something that will always rightfully cast a dark shadow. I think non PSU grads here overestimate the number of fans who absolve Paterno (as a lacrosse player who roomed with football players in the late 80s/early 90s, I can even tell you stories of how players disliked him and in the 89-90 season almost staged a player mutiny demanding playcalling changes, a story for another time). Yes, there is a small, vocal group of cultists who are the ones you should fire into the sun, but I personally know no one in my alumni network that doesn't think Paterno was asleep at the wheel and deserved culpability. That said, I also do not believe PSU has any place in the playoff. Outside the OSU win, their resume does not deserve it.
